Hey there. Great video. I've won an competition to play tekken 7 online against 200 others where the winners get to go to london and play live on twitch with other twitch streamers. I've not played tekken since tekken 2 so this videos gonna help. Think I'm gonna need it
I just tried to do this and when I press down all the fighter does is crouch 90% of the time. When I press up it jumps 70% of the time. That’s just in practice mode.
For anyone curious about movement in the pocket (close enough to hit eachother): you can backdash a jab at -2~3 * or better, sidestep a jab at -4~5 * or better, and duck one at -9 or better. These are just rules of thumb, and things change depending on the opponent's poke choices and timing changes.
@@Life1233_ np just keep in mind those are rules of thumb. Sometimes you can ss jabs even at -6 or so and sometimes you can't backdash at -3. It depends on character choice (how good character ss/backdash is), and also the spacing whatever move that was last used left you and your opponent at.
It takes 6 frames to ss in this game you can ss a jab up to -3 if the opponent does it immediately after if you are -5 and the opponent checks you with a jab right after your move gets blocked you are gonna get tagged.
Can't wait for a more advanced guide. I fought a long set against a guy who was psychic against my lows. I figured out that he was buffering it into his movement. I'd like some pointers on that.
During korean back dash, ure low blocking for the duration u hold db. Happens quite a few times, that ure blocking low pokes by accident during korean back dash. But during that db window ur vulnerable for mid attacks, which might clip u. So better to keep the db as short as possible for faster and safer kbd
this is an awesome guide, I want to learn how to play some characters from this game but what's so common in every video that no one seems to talk about in their guides is the movement from this game, I didn't even know how to side step, and what makes this guide so special is that you didn't just explain on the training mode but actually used on the online, and while that Masterraven was aggressive, he was also using the movement you talked about
Hey anakin, thanks for this. I haven't watched the video yet but I'm still grateful that a knowledgeable player like you took the time to make a guide for us in the lower end of the skill pool. So really, thanks. I'm sure this will help someone struggling in their tekken journey. Best of luck to you.
The three gameplans I have are rushdown, keep out and bait n’ punish. Rushdown:Keeping in my opponents face with unreactable lockdown moves to prevent them from using movement to bait. Keep out:Basically use of One Jab and safe ranged attacks to keep the opposition from rushing my down. Bait n’ punish:Using movement to bait out my opponents keep out habits.
Rushdown beats bait and punish, bait and punish beets keep out and keep out beats rushdown. Actively switching between these states and responding to what your opponent is doing is key
@@iCaShZz sorry friend I can not. Just view the 3 states as a triangle kinda like types in pokemon where you have to switch to the counter playstyle of your opponent. If your opponent is capable they will being doing the same thing which will result in a constant shifting of playstyles throughout your match. That was the jist of the video. Basically don't ever commit to one of the playstyles as you will always be countered
@@iCaShZz that blasted salamis most recent devil jin breakdown gives alot of important concepts fir tekken in general including this one - definitely worth a watch
IDK if anyone will see this, but you can't duck Raven's 3, 3 (m, h) because it jails. It's one of Raven's best pokes. You can duck the last hit of 3, 3, 4 (m, h, h) though. Anakin is talking/teaching, so he got caught with that 100+ damage Raven combo while being inattentive. I'm certain he would have ducked if he were concentrating in a real match :) As a Raven player, you will be watching to see if they duck after a 3, 3 and check them with d/f+4 (launches crouchers) or d/f+1 for ppl who can "fuzzy guard." If they press buttons after 3, 3, then that's when we'll let 3, 3, 4 rip, esp in a RAGE situation to DELETE HEALTHBAR. Otherwise, we keep them honest with a plain 3, 3. Good stuff!
I think it's possible to crouch and avoid the 334 and also stand up and guard any mid. It's actually not that hard because of the time you spend recovering from 33. That's why I laughed and got frustrated or whatever because I always get around 334 but just happened to get caught. Try not to fall in love with 334 but then again I might be wrong and something has changed
This video literally just made everything click. I thought everyone was wavedashing or "korean back dashing" the entire game long and its not even like that hahaha
Thank you for the beginning im playing with one hand and when you said if they get close block and im doin it onehanded i loved this as a person with a disability
Thanks for the video. I'm not afraid to say it. Old school gamer. Was very very good at the arcades. Played tekken 1, 2, tag, and 3. Played every character. I was kid, had nothing but time and lots of quarters. Wished I knew about tournaments back then. internet/social media wasn't available. Lol It's been over 20 years and just now getting into tekken 7. A.. lot has changed (rage) a lot of the combos are the same. Surprised how fast everything came back to me. I was blocking those 10 hit strings when I should have forgotten. Tekken is by far the best fighting game in history. I'm a huge street fighter fan but I can't say sf is relevant like it was back then like tekken still is. Both still have a huge.... fan base tho. Keep up the great videos bro
Sounds very similar to me. I played 1, 2, 3 and Tag and then I stopped until recently. Except I mostly played on console. Didn't even know a competitive scene existed.
Very informative video. Nice presentation while fighting. Seem like that would be somewhat difficult. The Bryan matches seems as if your skills were on display more so than the previous matches. Especially once you figured him out. Watching you and this video made me go back to labbing movement. Thank you and looking forward for the next video.
Thank you for this tutorial and this was the best one I have seen so now I can play a lot better. I'm not gonna buy Tekken 8 for 70 bucks though so I'll be waiting till it goes on sale since I only play it for online. 👍
More videos like this . I'm a King player and have more than 300 wins and still haven't been to green ranks yet . I really wanna know more amd more about the game
After you get to green ranks I'd try to play as fundamental as possible from there on, but 1st Dan to light blue ranks are actually mindless spam 95% of the time
Ive been accustomed to hold back when guarding, but I see the point that resting the dpad or stick is good so you can react more to lows, tekken is generous to implement this auto block to avoid unnecessary backdashes because sometimes esp online my character backdashes because of lag, so I get caught by attacks
Im tekken king Raven player and everytime I feel like trying a New character I always think of Leo. I have tried picking Leo up many times and sure, shes good and share similarities with Raven. But she doesnt 'feel' good.. I dont know why this is but I come to the same conclusion everytime!
Quick question: I played an online tournament a few minutes ago and I was in the grand final. I won the grand final but I was advanced to another round. Is that a glitch or no?
Sounds like the tournament was "double elimination" and you made it to the grand final after having lost 1 match at some point. If that's the case, it would mean your opponent was unbeaten up until that point. If he had won that match, it would've been your 2nd loss and so you would've been eliminated. But when you won that match, it was only his 1st loss, which means he isn't eliminated yet, so another match is played to see who will be first to lose their 2nd match and be eliminated. When this happens, it's called a "bracket reset" and it's the advantage the other player earned by getting through all their previous matches unbeaten.
“Kbd isn’t even that good” *proceeds to use kbd all the time* The way u move backwards is way too risky, homing or tracking moves can touch you, or if they sidestep along with you.
Very good tips for anyone who wants to improve their Tekken game.
I appreciate the help for the little dogs like myself.
