  • Campaign game playthrough of Stellar Horizons with three factions: North America (blue), Japan (white), and South America / Africa (green).
Sorry for the buzzing audio midway through the video. I catch this later on and I think I have eliminated it from about 0:45:58 onward.
    Errors:
0:04:25 - There is no Building Phase during the first year of the campaign - the game starts with the Movement Phase.
0:11:47 - North America starts off with Improved Space Suits so they should have been rolling for 12 here instead of 11 (I make this mistake again later as well).

A few notes for this and future videos:
    - Don't worry! I've actually filmed the entire game all the way to the end, so I should be able to upload a complete campaign game with this series!
    - The audio quality is okay for the first few episodes but I get a new microphone somewhere around Episode 4 that improves the audio.
    - Please let me know if you see any mistakes and I'll add them to the list in the video summary!

Dude, thanks a lot for this recording. This must be a huge effort for a seemingly niche game. Your audio and tone is great and much better than some of the gameplay content for this title on TH-cam. Something I didn’t realize until I checked on TTS is that not only do the countries have different stats but different amount of vehicles. E g some countries may only have one telescope or rover while others have more. This must greatly affect strategy. Looking forward to play this for real one day

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Yep, the asymmetry between factions is really interesting. They all play very differently.

This series of Stellar Horizons campaign playthrough really flows like the game rules do not at all! These are exceedingly helpful in getting a feel for the sequence of play and for the nuances of the game, as well as in making me aware of the many, many additions and deductions to engine failures, malfunctions, exploration values and the like (haven't gotten to any combat yet - thankfully! - as I approach the 2060s), . It will take a lot of practice and referencing the rules to remember that there is both Movement (Flybys from Flyby boxes) and Resource Production (CV) in the Exploration Phase and not in the respective Movement and Production Phases (are you kidding me?!!)
Thanks so much for this series: It is not only instructional for learning how to play and teach the game and navigate the rule book, but also for helping me fall asleep (seriously!).

Thanks for these! One thing it took me a bit to notice in my own playing around is that the campaign starts with the movement phase. So not only do you skip the Economic phase for the decade, you also skip the build on the first turn. Not sure it makes much difference, since everyone will probably run out of money by the middle of the decade. :-) And of course I missed this in your notes. Good catch!

Thanks! Yep, that was something I must have just read right over when starting this game.

I guess I need to know how to play the game to understand what you are doing. Shame.
