@Rusty Kinks I think you need to relax and appreciate a friendly joke. Obviously Victoria was trying to create a friendly rapport with the owners, by joking that Peanut looks more like a toy than a dog (which he does). I have to say, these are very loved, very well cared for dogs, even if Peanut learnt to manipulate his doting mummy. Really lovely couple. Good to see.
Poms are very smart, perceptive doggos. Once they understand they can take advantage of a situation, they surely won't easily stop doing it. It's the owner's job to keep them in their place and give them clear rules, otherwise is a mess. Besides, they're lovely and amazing dogs, that love their family so much.
I spoiled my dog and didn't care how he behaved but then he had separation anxiety and died at 10 :(

I had a wonderful Pomeranian who was a lot like Peanut. He was totally attached to me, and he suffered mightily when I went out without him. He was a terrific and very intelligent watchdog, but he barked at everything - even at a fly. Fortunately his barking was not as high pitched as Peanut's barking. He was 16 years old when he died two years ago.
I did not want to have another dog anytime soon - but then I found a 12 weeks old puppy which I called Peanut because she was so tiny 😀 Peanut is a very beautiful Pomchi - a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix. I could not resist because she looked so much like my late Pomeranian, although she turned out to be a bit smaller and more delicate. I took her home one week before Chrismas and I had to go out frequently without Peanut. Therefore I started to train her to be left alone as soon as I had taken her into our appartment. It was a bit of a crash course, but since she was still so young, she learned very quickly, and today there is no problem whatsoever to leave her alone as long as she is in a safe room or her crate. My training was very simple. I started to leave her alone for at firt just a few minutes in a puppy safe space which I had established in the kitchen. I always said "Peanut, stay!" and then I went out of the kitchen. I came back after a couple of minutes, and then I gradually increased the time of my absence. Peanut learned very quickly that I would always come back, and therefore she never developed separation anxiety. I was able to leave her alone after just two days of intense training! This made my life as a dog owner so much easier!

_And that's a fact_

No people just think it doesn’t need training because its small
Nope, that is not necessarily true. But they need to get educated just like bigger dogs and a lot of small dog owners don't do this. What's probably true, though: small dog breeds may over time have developed a more assertive behavior because the little dogs needed to compensate for their small size. If this goes unchecked, they may develop the so-called "small-dog syndrome". Also, for ages they have been kept mainly as companion dogs and not for work. Therefore they might be more prone to develop separation anxiety. But all this can be controlled with the correct training.
When I got my "Pomchi" (Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix), when she was 12 weeks old, the very first thing I did, was to train her to be alone for a while. Since I started immediately, it wasn't even very difficult. I just left her alone in a puppy-proof space with her open crate and some water for just a few minutes at first, and then I came back in order to show her that it's alright and that I would always come back to her. I also gave her a verbal command every time I left. She understood very quickly that I would always come back sooner or later. She only cried for one or two minutes and then settled down in her open crate. At the end of the first day at home she had understood that nothing terrible would happen to her if she had to be alone for a while.
This was really a crash course. But it was necessary since I got her one week before Christmas, and I had many errants to run. The original plan had been to take her home after Christmas and New Year. This didn't work out for several reasons - and in hindsight everything was for the best because she learned to cope with so many different situations and different people. I have to admit, though, that I am lucky and she has a very laid back personality.
No, it’s people like you.

How about now????
+Rae Lei-I do love how Peanut, once he realized his "mom" was ignoring him, went to the next person in the room and demanded he get attention in some way. And he got super confused when both of them were ignoring them. Like dang it, I'm cute and I know, why you not giving me love? I don't think Peanut was a bad dog at all. Just a spoiled one. He knew how to turn the charm on and he knew what he had to do to get what he wanted. So when they shut down and showed that his behavior wasn't going to be tolerated anymore, he was quick to figure it out, okay, so this is not okay for me to do. I get much more praise and love if I listen to them. Because he did really love his owners very much and was a very friendly dog. Once he figured out that when he was quiet, Victoria was willing to play with him, he was very happy that she was playing with him. It really was just a simple correction on his behavior and letting him know gently that what he was doing wasn't acceptable and he was willing and happy to make it better.

Peanut is so f'ing cute. No dog should be allowed to be that adorable.
He broke my heart
You're right. We have to put him down.
Not until he barks like a broken music recorder
No dog should be allowed to be that spoiled
lol
This is just like a toddler in the grocery store, screaming, demanding, tantrums. The parent gives in. Guess what happens the next time? Longer & louder screams!
And it's so easy to give in because you just want it to stop. Because at the store, you are embarrassed and ashamed and just want the attention off you. But the kid realizes pretty quick that as long as they don't let up, someone will eventually give in and give them what they want. Much like here where Peanut realized at some point rather quick, if I bark at everything, I get everything I want.
And much like here, I don't believe if your child is throwing a tantrum that you should start screaming at them either. Ask them to stop. Because they're not going to listen and it's only going to escalate the situation. Try to ignore them as much as you can. Don't acknowledge the behavior. Don't acknowledge when they keep asking, begging, crying, screaming, no matter how painful or difficult it is. Especially in public.
With kids, screaming and crying and constantly begging usually gives them what they want so it's a difficult cycle to break. I know, because even when I tell my niece no, she will not let up until she hears a yes. Because she knows that if she doesn't let up, someone will often give in to her. Try not to let it get to that point with kids or dogs. But once it's there, just don't acknowledge. Wait for a period of quiet and proceed like nothing happened. If a child is throwing a tantrum, find somewhere to sit down to watch them, but don't acknowledge them, and try to wait it out and they'll figure it out that their behavior is not getting them anywhere.
It's a lot harder with kids than dogs because dogs naturally want to please you, but it is similar in their own ways. Bratty behavior can't be tolerated, whether it's kids or dogs. Bratty kids/dogs are not a joy to be around. And most of them are very sweet and smart to where they will understand and pick up that this is not going to be tolerated.
I have had Pomeranians for 25 years now, they are adorable little stinkers😁♥️🥰
We just got our first one! We love him!
