PULITZER NEEDS TO CONSIDER THIS SERIES. The fact there isn't a digital or documentary journalism category is sad Beautiful journalism beautiful stories, thank you Erik and Skratch team for putting together such a beautiful masterpiece of documentary journalism. The presentation and cinematography is beautiful. The content is dynamite. Thank you.
@@VolleyballHighlights2024 it's even more strange that YOU are concerned with him getting a piece of paper and a pat on the back. Not every good thing needs to be in the sunlight.
Erik this is by far the best Adventures in Golf episode to date. It really embodies not just what golf is all about, but what being human is about. Thank you.
I’ve always loved Eric but this gave me a new found respect and admiration for you man. Fucking thank you for being such an incredible person truly. You make the world of golf a better place as well.
As someone who is blind in one eye. This was fascinating. I am grateful for this game and seeing others who have the same type of story as me is amazing. Thanks Adventures in Golf!
I picked up golf about 7 years ago, got diagnosed with RP (Doc's condition) a little more than a year ago. I have never needed to see a video more than this one right here. So unfathomably inspiring. Today, my vision, while not good, is still full, I can live a "normal" life. One day that will go away, and I've struggled dealing with that reality ever since my diagnosis, but seeing this and hearing Doc's story has put such warmth in my heart. I won't ever have to give up this game I love, I will adapt and it will be different but I will still be on the course hitting balls with people I care about.I just really can't describe how awesome this video was. Made me tear up hearing EAL try to describe what he was feeling with the mask on, such a powerful experience. Thank you Erik, truly.
this episode was awesome. You could really see the emotion EAL was having in his mind. He really put it all out there, put himself in someone else shoes, someone who loves the same game. Right in the feels
This piece gave me goosebumps. I have an Aunt that is partially blind. I am going to share this with her and see if she will play golf with me. Great piece Erik and crew.
No wayyyyy, I’ve met “blind doc” when I was a cart guy at Brentwood Country Club and actually walked him down to the pro shop so he could get to his lesson. Crazy to see him and BCC on this series
Inspiring and thank you for honoring all of us blind golfers. It's very difficult to play this game being legally blind like I am. I can't even imagine people who are totally blind that can do it. Im grateful for what sight I have, it's truly a gift and that's how I (and others) need to see it. It's so easy to be negative in life and focus on the darkness because it really is everywhere and always lurking readily to creep into your mind. You really do have to fight it and one thing I've learned is that it's an active fight. It never really goes away and happiness is truly a choice. It doesn't just fall into your lap. You gotta really want it!! So despite all the ups and downs I have faced in life, and in Golf, I play on. I do it for myself and more importantly I do it for those less fortunate than me. I do it because it makes me happy amd isn't that what life is all about? Oh and I almost forgot to mention here I have recently started a TH-cam channel and it's about well many different things but one of those thing is my journey to be the best Golfer I can possibly be while being blind. My goal is a scratch level someday or possibly better. A tall order I know being blind but hey we gotta try in life right? Anyways its called "Through Blind Eyes" so if you wanna check it out amd give me a follow or whatever strikes your fancy I would absolutely appreciate it. It's brand new so I only have 1 video up and I'm in the very tedious process of editing my second and I have about 5 or 6 others behind that. The next video scheduled to be uploaded is my adventures at TPC Sawgrass. I got my butt kicked but it was fun! 🤣 Aright guys take care and stay believing in yourselves and each other Play on guys, play on... ⛳ 😊👍
Very appreciative of this episodes voice and it really hit it home for me. It reminded me of golfing with my Grandfather as he went through severe macular degeneration from ages 63 to 91. We still golfed almost every weekend as his condition got noticeably worse year after year, but never stopped him. He made it work as he did with everything. Man never used a cart, absolutely loved golf, walking the course and always carried his own clubs. He'd always say "appreciate your shot and make them count". I carry those very words outside the game as it stuck. We kept golfing until his passing and I will miss that man, his character, his words, far beyond forever.
It's truly unbelievable the people that you meet. Without you, we would never know these people exist. People, despite, their abilities, love and want to play the game. These stories TRULY are the best things I've ever seen for the sport. just unreal. period.
My favorite episode by far. EAL took an incredible story and immersed himself in it with the utmost respect and openness. What a trio of men featured in this episode.
This is quite possibly the best journalism I have ever experienced. Extremely inspiring to hear these gentleman’s stories, as well as Erik’s experience playing without sight. Greatest game on Earth. Well done and thank you, Erik!
Every Septermber I hope the Adventure continues. Excited to see it back for a 6th season, and hope many more down the road. Great story right from the start!
This not a story about a blind man but the bond of a father and a son through the beautiful game of golf. This is what life is all about. As are the other stories in this. People help each other. We are all in this together.
What a reminder of the basics gifts in life that we all at times take for granted. Appreciate how you highlighted the amazing people who often accomplish so much under the most difficult circumstances. Thanks
Wow, what a film. "Adventures in Golf" is one of the most impactful pieces of golf journalism out there. Cannnot be touched by professional coverage or generic youtube content. Imitated but never replicated, this series is the one of the very few things that approaches a true insight toward what golf means to those who pursue it.
That took courage, man. A large part of my family (cousins, mom, wife, aunt) are visually impaired or legally blind. As a sighted person, I unintentionally take for granted things that my family members have never had. I’ve never once considered the game of golf to be one of those things. And I’ll forever look at golf differently. Figuratively, and literally. I’m touched, man. Seriously. I mean that. Thank you.
My Admiration go to the 2 coaches, the lady and gentleman who were so kindly and even compassionately assisting the 2 blinded golfers finding their path and their foothold in this world. Thank YOU very much for your dedication.
Erik's contents on here or on RGC are heads and shoulders above anyone else. Thank you so much for bringing us all these amazing videos and introducing us to all these amazing people Erik!
Oh I love that subtle touch when you put on the mask the screen goes black and all the sounds of course come through really loud and clear. What an awesome way for us to feel the sensation of the other senses compensating for the lack of another.
Yo.... I just gained respect for you in a fresh way. You are the best golf journalist in the world bro. You truly immersed yourself in all versions of the game and embrace the game we all enjoy. Thank you, sir. I almost cried watching this episode.
This is such an inclusive podcast…. I absolutely love it. I’ve never deeply thought about blindness in this way before. Enlightening!!!!! So refreshing to hear Doc speak, he is so comfortable in his own skin…. No fear or feeling of self pity! 👏🏽🙌🏾🙌🏾
I have been watching this show for all 6 seasons, Erik, you and the crew have really made something special for the rest of us to enjoy. I hope this show goes on for as many seasons as you all can film for. I forget about this show for a few months at a time, and then become captivated by an episode in my recommended and watch all the ones I have missed. Thank you for this real content in a world full of fake and misguided creators.
This is one of the best content i have seen on youtube. It uplifts the human spirit. No matter what your handicap maybe in life there is hope. And it is even better that the greatest game men has ever invented was used as a medium. Thank you.
Bro Erik.......I love golf so much, and I train Jiu Jitsu. I don't usually tear up watching things like this and you touched my heart and made me cry hard with this video. You did blind golf and everyone in the world that is blind a wonderful service. You are such a wonderful guy man. Thank you for all that you do. I hope one day we meet. Much love.
I think we sighted people have a lot to be grateful for and we don't appreciate the world enough. There are some amazing people on this planet that get on with life no matter what it deals them. A story told brilliantly.
Very touching and refreshing episode. Thank you for reminding folks like me just how truly blessed we are to have something as simple as our vision, etc. I hope I “see” things a little better tomorrow morning. You’re a good dude, EAL.
never seen a video like that, from a golfer one of the best video ever seen, sometimes u feel unlucky for stupid things and forgetting just see something is a lucky that a lot people don't have.
Fantastic Eric… You helped me gain perspective on all the things we take for granted and that was captured in this video. Your empathy and passion shine through in all that you do but this was top-notch. Mindfulness, being thankful and enjoying the process no matter which process that is is was demonstrated here. Thank you.
What an inspiration! My grandfather passed away a few year ago now, my best memories were playing golf with him…. Also he was blind as well and I watched him make a 2 on a par 5! Nothing is impossible! Keep up the amazing and inspirational content!
Some people want to change the world, this man is BEING the change in the world. Thank you for opening my eyes to the power of golf and how it can bring so many characters from different avenues in life together❤❤.
We did this a few times when we were younger, also we used to play the last 3 holes in the dark. Strange sensation and it really does slow your swing down and make it a lot smoother over time. Hats off to these Blind Golf members.
Erik, just when I think you, and your crew, can't top the last episode, you then blow my mind with the next one. Thank you for making golf more and more a metaphor about life. Congrats on season six! I can't wait for the adventure to continue.
This episode brought tears to my eye. It taught me not to take the abilities that I have for granted. Thanks for this Skratch, Adventures in Golf and the hole team for this one!
I have no words. Literally. (after a 10 min reflection) The compassion in this episode is just so inspiring. The fact that Doc says, at 23:14 "He is understanding, he is honoring" is just wonderful. If all of us could just set aside our own lives and walk around and get as deeply in someone else's skin as you did, what a better world this would be. Thank you, Erik, thank you.

Wow. This was an insanely emotional episode. I have my sight but when Erik talked about the first ten seconds in a blindfold it was heavy. Good work guys.
Incredible video, Erik. I've hit a few solid shots with my eyes closed, but you showed us what it's like just to be in the world, our world, with no vision. This was both inspirational and cathartic. I believe Chad when he says that "you honored blind golfers today".
Wow, what an emotional opening episode. Heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. I’m glad these two men and the many other blind golfers have found the will to play.
What a great episode, thank you very much. I am a Golfer with disabilty myself and have met blind golfers in the past. This episode was very life-enhancing and gave me goosebumps!

This is absolutely amazing!! Being a new golfer myself that can see, going through the struggles of learning all those bad shots don’t seem so bad anymore. I’m blown away by this and have even more respect for the blind. Thank you for this.
You're definitely one of the most understanding and passionate people in the world of golf. It's about time we got a long episode of AIG. Best one yet man, I cant wait for the next one
Potentially the best adventures in golf episode. More than a few “my allergies are crying” moments
Same man same
I'm in my sealed, air conditioned apartment experiencing those same allergies. So incredible.
The feeling is mutual! We have a lot of mean trees here in Texas!
Yeah those damn allergies will get you. Weird how they come along when watching something like this right?
Portland one was the best, tennis ball golf, random people bound by sports, it’s almost free to play, most relatable, it’s like tapeball cricket
Erik is the Anthony Bourdain of golf, experiencing the sport and it’s characters on behalf of all of us. This episode was so incredibly touching.
Here here!!
eh, its too bad he has been called out for being an asshole in real life, but this video makes me think otherwise. internet trolls or something
This is extremely accurate
Phenomenal analogy👍⛳️
Between Bourdain and "you should do Netflix documentaries," every single episode I've seen so far says these two comments
This is one of the greatest films I've ever seen. Inspiring is an understatement.
that "thank you" at 16:15 hit me hard, it's so significant and you can feel how much it's taken from him to get to this point
Same here. Really touching!!
