    This is excellent, thanks for sharing. Can't beat this method for the cost of $10 in straps and securing hooks!

    I have seen so many ways to store your Kayaks & Canoes ... your's is by far the BEST using minimal space ... I live in the UK and have only a tiny area to store and your method is absolutely ideal ... THANKS 😎😎😎

    This worked great storing our two kayaks on our fence, if TH-cam would let me post a picture here I would. We tarped them first.

    With them hanging there by the straps is there a chance the straps warp the hull where they're holding it up?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I’ve been hanging the kayaks there for 2 years now and no issues with warping the hull. There is no tension on the hull, as the straps are more like slings holding the boats in place. I have seen hulls warped when tightening straps too tightly while transporting a kayak on rooftop carriers.

      Yeah, unless someone gets carried away tightening it it looks good.
      Ratchet straps should be avoided to mitigate this, use buckle, cam style tie down straps as shown.
      You tighten down more on a car rack than this and you need to but be careful.
      It looks viable to me and you could use the same straps to car top it too!
      (Some call them lashing straps?)

    I'm going to do the same but directly to the concrete. My kayak is 100lb, do you think that's going to supported? Thanks for the video, great job!👍

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not really sure I know what you mean when you say 'directly to the concrete' Do you have concrete posts?

    • @Uvsnine
      @Uvsnine ปีที่แล้ว

      Done! Awesome, I did it with the same D rings and I already had the straps. Thanks for the video!

      I said directly to the concrete because my house is full concrete. I have mine in the garage.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it’s pretty easy… I mount the lower kayak first then I rest the upper kayak on the lower one and loop the straps over each end.

    Will this not cause the fence to move?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, not if you have a good strong fence. Mine has the bigger 6x6 posts that are set in concrete, so very secure indeed.

  • @thornythicket1097

    Nice! How do you hang the higher one?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The higher one is easiest if you have two people lifting, one can hold the kayak while the other secures the straps, however I have done it myself. I mount the lower boat first, then lift the second boat and balance it atop the first ( lower) kayak and secure the straps, but definitely easier with two people.

    How do they go being stored in the direct sun?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can always cover them with a tarp if strong sun/winter weather is a concern. Easy enough to drape the tarp over as they are not too high off the ground.

      @@TheOneCanoe Apparently, hanging a kayak on a wall with straps is not a "simple" action. Understood. Best wishes. BTW I just ordered a Sea Eagle.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brucehaulley8117 Ah yes, a Sea Eagle. My dad and I had one of those many years ago, a great little portable kayak. The nice thing about that is you don’t need to worry about hanging it up, just deflate it and store it.
