Loved your acting skills when you were talking about getting distracted in Civolution by shiny things (51:50) and you got sidetracked by something off camera. It goes to how your content usually come through. Very professional but you still keep things light with a little joking on yourself. Love you content.
Thanks Paul, great video as always, I always look forward to the Games of the Month videos. It's amazing how many games you manage to fit into a month! Have fun at Essen!
Paul, your playthroughs and tutorials are consistently my favorites. Even though I'm strictly a solo board gamer I always enjoy all of your playthroughs whether they're solo or group games. And your monthly vlogs are both fun and informative. Yours is the only channel where I'll always watch your latest video, even if it's about a game I didn't think I was interested in. It's all such excellent work.
On that specific ISS Vanguard scenario - we played it the same way you did, and had great fun. Ended up winning by the skin of our teeth (playing as designed), but we were set up very well as this came late in the campaign and had the gear and characters to handle it. Would love to have more like this!
Paul, thanks for this VLOG. It makes my day and gives me an excellent start to the new week. I totally agree with the Gaia Project. It is an excellent game, and I can't wait to see the latest expansion. I wish you a stress-free journey to Essen and less friction with Deutsche Bahn 🙂 All the best Frank
Great video Paul. It's always my favourite board game video of the month Just wanted to say I've been really enjoying your channel this month. I've been on a bit of a low with board game recently. Collection has gotten a lot smaller as I tend to replay games I love and have lost interest in new games that seem a slight tweak on existing games. But I've seen a lot of games on your channel this last month and you have made them seem fun and the tone of your videos have made them a real joy to watch. I've started to add games to a wishlist for the first time in months and it's almost solely down to your videos.
Another great VLOG, thanks 👍 At 1:18:05 "Where I should be counting my socks" 😂😂 Thanks for the big laugh Paul. I wonder how many socks you will be bringing 😃
Thanks for a great vlog. I really enjoy hear you talk about games ☺️ Its very admirable that you donate to charity each month. Its fun to follow along what you donate to! And great choice of charity 😊 would be fun to hear how much you donate, but I guess thats a bit too private info perhaps? 😊
Already got the Lost Fleet, bought it in Austria on holiday a couple of weeks ago. It's an auto include as far as I'm concerned. Great expansion. Shackleton Base has just jumped to the top of my list. Looks awesome.
Hi Paul I remember you said you struggle with anxiety and insomnia (like me) when travelling for cons. Just wanted to say I hope you had a great time at Spiel and are feeling good.
Really enjoyed this Vlog, Paul! Wish you a great and sucessful time in Essen and hope it is not too crowded. The 3rd of October is a holiday in Germany and many people take the Friday off as bridge day ^^ Looking forward to your account when you are back. SETI and Saltfjord look most interesting to me. There are also a few games that are already out in English but are finally released in German for Essen. One is Life of the Amazonia which I had the pleasure to play last weekend and greately enjoyed. I am also very much anticipating the expansions of White Castle and Forest Shuffle which is currently our comfort game ^^
I saw your playthroughs of Civolution and SETI. I decided to pre-order them immediately. Those games seem so much fun to play. I am also thinking about Shackleton Base and Saltfjord. Saltfjord is the number one game of this year according to Rahdo.
For all interested in seeing Paul demoing Galactic Cruise: Dranda Games, Hall 3, 3H511 (in the video you mentioned the hall). Paul, I am really interested to see the game 🙂 Frank
Re: the Gaia Project Expansion. I've played 58 games, so you could say I quite enjoy the game! :) However, I'm not planning on buying the expansion (at least for the foreseeable future), despite usually being really eager to jump on expansions for games I enjoy. The reason is as follows. All of my games have been solo. I really enjoy the Automa solo mode for the base game, the fact that it behaves differently every time is great- I really enjoy bots with multiple different 'personalities' (rather than just different difficulty levels). But unfortunately, Automa Factory weren't involved in developing the solo mode for the expansion components, and I'm worried it'll be lacking. Even if it's not, I'm very disappointed that they didn't try to include Automa cards for the other 8 factions (at the moment you can only play against one faction of each colour, so I hoped they'd complete the set, and I know I wasn't alone in hoping for that). Additionally, the expansion does seem to up the complexity and table space required a touch- although obviously the base game was already a complex and large game, so I'm not *too* worried about that, but it is a slight consideration. And regardless of everything else, it still requires at least 84 (14*6 I think) games to play every possible combo against the bot, so I've still got a way to go before I need an expansion!
I am a big fan of Gaia Project and I don't plan on getting the expansion, for two reasons. First, as you mentioned, I think it is a terrific game as it is. I don't feel it is lacking anything that I would want an expansion to address. Second, I already have so many games that I have trouble finding time to get to the table. I am trying to cut back on new acquisitions so I can just enjoy what I have, and so since I don't really need this, and don't have the time to explore it anyway, I'll pass on the expansion, though it may be a perfectly fine expansion.
Drat, I've been really parsimonious this year so far, but now you've put SETI project on my essen release buy list as well. Civolution was always going to be on it. But I have a feeling there are going to be more. . .
Thanks to your SETI playthrough I’m super excited about the game. What’s the link to the Civolution contest? Can’t find it here or at the Civolution playthrough.
Great video Paul 😭👍 Basically you’re saying that Primal is Monster Hunter The Board Game with no IP licensing and gameplay mechanisms that actually work? 😂
I love gaia project but I haven't explored enough of the base game to feel like I need the expansion yet. If I stack another 10 games under my belt, then maybe.
I am an avid listener in spotify but while I have been influenced by a lot of your games just by listening, it would help me very much if what player counts are you recommending the game as I play mostly at 2 sometimes 3. Tough ask considering you often times play with 2.
I have Gaia Project. I absolutely love the game. Lots of games played, solo and multiplayer. I`d really like to try the new expansion. But, I think I won`t buy it because the components won`t fit in the box, which is hardly to keep closed now. No, a great explanation, but, that`s it
I absolutely don't recommend going by train. Our German train company is notoriously known to not be reliable. I hope you don't encounter any major delays or canceled train rides.
Thank you Paul for the sharing. Have a great time at Essen!

Completely unscripted :)
Glad it was funny.
Thank You Paul for supporting victims of that horrible flood in Poland. I have family who has been affected by it so all help is much appreciated!
Congratulations Paul! The content you bring to us is simply fantastic, excelent. It's always a big pleasure to watch your videos. Thanks
Thanks Paul, great video as always, I always look forward to the Games of the Month videos. It's amazing how many games you manage to fit into a month! Have fun at Essen!
Thanks for these further comments on A Wayfarer's Tale: The Journey Begins. Both playthroughs were really clear and insightful.
Glad you like them!

This was a fun watch/listen. Looking forward for everything you will cover. I'm glad I'll meet you at Gridcon and hopefully next year in Essen.
Hi Paul. Great month of playthroughs. Loved the Civolution content in particular
Thanks!
Hello Paul, Keith here. Great vid with so much thoughtfulness. Thank you.
You are very welcome
The best day of the month, is when you upload the monthly vlog !!! Thank you for the time and effort
51:48 Actually laughed out loud. Perfect.
I did too!
Paul is so funny,; it's a joy to watch his videos.
@@johnunderwood4953 Thanks both. I hadn't planned this at all.

Happy to help. But there is nothing wrong with not buying anything new and playing older games :)
Being from the region that has been hit by the flooding - appreciate that you also have you eye on here. :)
Another great VLOG, thanks 👍

It’s around £400 a month. The people who say there is no money in YT advertising is wrong :)

Troyes dice is one I like on BGA. I’m not good at it, but enjoy it. I like the bright colors and dice choices.
I'd forgotten it was on BGA
Wot! 4 trains, 1 automobile but no plane? Safe journey. I assume Luke is still being the game mule so good wishes to him too.
Luke (and others) will be helping bring games back for the charity raffle.

I agree with your sentiment regarding ISS Vanguard. It might not be for everyone, I for one think it’s incredible.

Hey Paul, SETI or Unconscious Mind? Where are you at right now If you had to pick one?
I've only played SETI once, but that would get my vote currently.

Thanks for listening. I will try to mention what player counts I’ve played the games at. I know I sometimes do but maybe not always
Calling Card is probably Key Enigmas best game but as you will soon see, The Detective Society is leaps and bounds better.
There is no comparison!!!!
