8 years on my MS171. It has never let me down unless I leave untreated gas. I used stihl moto or VP fuels and every 12-18months I put the service pack ( new gas and air filter and maybe spark plug ). I also spray it down with engine cleaner if it has heavy dirty
The carburetor system is very sensitive, and the felt bowls on both sides of the crankshaft have problems after 2 years, and because of the plastic part of the lower part of the cylinder, it breaks down again a few months after repair.
The thing is with the Stihl you can still buy all the parts. I just bought a new top end and piston , 70 bucks. The high end Husky stuff is good the low end stuff not so much.

Had my 120 10 years, and ive never had a single issue with it. No parts ever changed besides the chain.

I have a husqvarna another model and no problem and year of make is 1977
120 have many problems,, Stihl is better engine!!
