- You know Hawaii Island is a volcanic island, right? Getting into the ocean can be a challenge from shore. There are miles of coast line in West Hawaii that have white sand beaches mixed with a larger amount of black lava and sometimes a mix of both. We created this video to help you find safe, easy access to the main beaches near Kailua Kona, along with which ones have lifeguards, showers and bathrooms. We also mention ocean safety tips, as well as how to care for our bays by wearing rash guards and mineral sunscreen.
Here is the link to the video showing Kua Bay when it had NO sand in February so you can be slightly shocked at the before and after:

Thank you Julie and Eric! Absolutely stoked about our arrival.

Thank you so much! Really appreciate that feedback Jill!
May 3rd at 6:30 pm my wife and I hit the Big Island for our trip of a lifetime! We rented a Jeep because we plan on exploring and winging it for the entire 10 days we're there! So, the last beach....no one there!? Well bomb diggity! That will be us all day long! Mahalo to you both for the best down to earth videos the Big Island has too offer a couple of main landers! ( also...I myself would love to give the vehicle you used a ride!)
Well Bomb Diggity is right!! lol Go and enjoy!
@365Hawaii Well, we just got home yesterday. We made it to that beach and bomb diggity it was the most amazing place we visited during our whole trip! We went early and there was no one there! Simply beautiful! I'd like to add one thing though. We went to Shaka Tacoz at the market where they have their little stand and I swear you guys were right in front of us ordering. I forget what day it was ( that's a good thing in my mind)
I whispered to my wife that's the folks from 365. She said she thought so too. But alas I wasn't sure. Tried to catch you when you were leaving. Grey Honda? Trying not to sound creepy here.
@@user-hu2jn7yt6g I have not been to Shaka Tacoz yesterday..wonder if we were near there, because we have a grey CRV. Hmmm..
There are three beaches I am really happy you skipped over north of town. Thank you!
We hit only the ones accessible easily..no off roading and all below Kua Bay, not north.
Very helpful. Thank you. We will be back in September. Haven't been to Kua Bay. Will definitely be spending time on that beach.
Have fun!
Always good to see your videos thank you 😊😊
My pleasure 😊
Thanks Julie and Eric!!! much needed views of the best beaches and why😊 You guys always have the great perspective of those who are living on the island!! Cheryl Parker from SanDiego! always love your live sunset videos too!!
Glad you enjoyed it, Cheryl!! You are such a long time fan..Mahalo!
Good night from PAPUA NEW GUINEA.
When my Wife and I were in Kona a couple of years ago, we went to Mahai'ula Beach it was quite the experience on the road but our little compact rental car made it did scrape a few times dropping off the pavement sections. The beach was beautiful and there was a Monk seal on the beach there was a person there to keep people away from the seal we really enjoyed the beach well worth the effort to get there just wish we had a jeep at the time🙂
Thanks for sharing!
Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video, friends! Mahalo for featuring the beautiful beaches, but tsk-tsk, Eric… you’ve lived on Big Island for over a decade and you should be able to pronounce humuhumunukunukuapua’a by now!
You'd think!~lol
Agree - you should be able to pronounce the state fish.
I’m glad you didn’t mention makalwena, the nicest beach on the island.
It’s a secret.
You should amend your comment to "The beach that shall remain unnamed!" We will NEVER do a video there!
Was a secret.
Your ohana family subscription is not working
Glad we got that figured out! Look forward to meeting you!
I know one you guys didnt mention. But i feel you didnt mention it on purpose lol 😘
That is the "beach that must not be named"!
