EV charging tariffs - Nov 23 update - OVO price cut but is it the cheapest?

Update to my October video • EV electricity tariffs...
OVO Charge Anytime have cut their prices from 27.5p kWh house and 10p kWh car to 27.5p kWh house and 7p kWh car. This applies at all times. The lower price is calculated using data from your car or charger. There is no fixed cheap period. All house use is priced at the standard rate.
Octopus Intelligent Go remains at 30.6p kWh peak times and 7.5p kWh 23:30 to 05:30 plus additional hours as notified. I can get up to 11 hours off peak in a night when I need a full charge from empty. All use, both house and car charging in the off peak hours is at the lower rate.
OVO is great saves you money compared to standard tariffs.
But Octopus can be cheaper if you shift enough house use into the off peak period. At least 15%.

Eon Next better! 9.5p 12-7am & 33p at all other times. We have 10kw battery and charge o/night (and fridge/freezer 7hrs at cheap rate = another 2kw) and put the dishwasher on every night to get another 2kw overall at cheap but as we get up at 6am we also put washing machine (2-3kw) and kettle and toasters etc on between 6-7 am. See how that compares?? Eon next can be cancelled at anytime like Octopus. Also Eon next SEG output is 16.5p/kwhr assuming you have solar installed as pre-requisite.

EON has the longest off peak period at 7 hours, but sometimes Octopus Intelligent will give more. Last night I got cheap rate from 23:30 to 08:30, so 2 hours more than EON, other nights I’ll get an hour less. In my Oct video description there are some calculations, and EON was good but not the cheapest. By having a home battery you are effectively shifting more household use into the off peak rate so saving more money. Glad it’s working for you.
