      Not out here yet, so my options were to order now or extend the etron by 12 months. Like buying a laptop a couple of decades ago, the only good days to buy were yesterday, so you have something and tomorrow so you get the new thing. I did a 3 year lease expecting my options would be far greater on renewal.

    I just bought my 55 for 26600 euros at 28000 km. It comes with a standard 6 years warranty. It’s from 21 so I still have left 3 years of full warranty. The car drives amazing. Coming from a golf 7 this is really next level. The first week of ownership we drove it to Spain for the holidays. A bit anxious about the charging possibilities along the way but it all went fine. I used Tesla superchargers, IONITY and shell recharge. All worked fine. At the hotel I could charge for max 4 hours at 11 kWh for €8. So a full charge cost me €16 :). Really happy with the car so far.

    I'm on the EDF EV energy plan. Works out at 9p per unit from 00:00 to 05:00. I'll take a look at Octopus when my tariff ends. However, I've got a PHEV so only charge every now and then (probably every couple of nights). What does my head in are service station costs. 80p per kw! What's that all about? It's twice the price of petrol, hence my preference for a PHEV. Short journeys on electric, longer journeys on hybrid.

    • @ski_tron2446
      @ski_tron2446 หลายเดือนก่อน

      OVO charge anytime could be good for you, I think it will work well with PHEV. if you can shift some house use into the cheap period the Octopus Go or Intelligent Octopus Go. I rarely use public rapid chargers. With 205 miles range I can do most of my journeys and back on a charge from home. If I have a long trip (like when I go to the alps) I use either Audi charging or Ionity passport subscription for cheaper public charging. That fact you mentioned about getting 7p/kWh with Octopus for many hours during the day makes all the difference, that and the fact that any other electricity you use for your appliances, water heating etc during those hours is also charged at the same 7p/kWh. Taking this in account, no other energy provider comes even close. Basically driving my Tesla Model 3 has a negative cost. Often the car is fully charged when I could do with cheaper electricity during the day, if only I had driven some more I'd have saved more. Crazy world, the most crazy is how the public is not being educated about this, they keep talking about the high cost of living partly due to the high cost of energy. What high cost of energy? 7p/kWh? I think I must live in a different world. Anyone has access to it, no one talks about it, except this video that is.

    • @ski_tron2446
      @ski_tron2446 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My last bill shows 480 kWh at the low rate and only 160 kWh at the high rate. I’m not using the car much as I’m not commuting right now (still off work since I got sick in Feb) and that’s keeping the overnight charging lower than normal. Equally I have a 1.7kw solar array that’s reducing the day use. I find it quite easy to hit the delay start on the laundry and dishwasher and bump that use into the overnight. Also I can charge less frequently and do larger charges, that triggers extra low rate hours.

    My local Audi dealer has an E-tron 55 advanced from 2019 with 93.000 km (57800 miles) here for sale. 6 months now, that is for sale. They lowered the price from 37.000€ to now 31.000€ and I think they have to lower it even more. I was interested, but then I read all the issues this big beast can have... It comes with a one year dealer warranty... But I think that is too risky. I fear that the car will cost me a lot of money in the future. That is why I'm now pending between the used e-tron and a used Tesla Model 3. Yes the Tesla has also some issues, but way less and when they have to be repaired, prices are way lower than an Audi. Because, it still is a 100.000€ car. I can't decide at the moment. 😅

    • @ski_tron2446

      A used Audi eTron 55 can be a good option but I would want a warranty. My leasing company has offered me the chance to buy mine for. £27000. It’s a 2021 Technik comfort and sound. But for the same money I can buy one from Audi approved used and get a 2 year warranty and 2 years servicing included. Used Tesla is a good option. It’s a smaller less refined car but they are good for reliability and cheap to own.

    Old fashion key it's only available in the UK, in the other parts of the Europe we have keyless start keyless entry :) I purchased this instead of the Ford Kuga(Kuga was 39k euro, Q3 was 41.5k) because it's premium, it's looking better, and it's way better insulated than the Kuga. Also, this car it's made to be used in hybrid mode, in the city you can use EV mode only, but this car it's not intended to be used in full EV on a highway, that's not the purpose of a PHEV, the purpose of it it's to use it in the town on electric mode, and then to choose the mode that keeps the range for town driving. I honestly don't think you can purchase a better SUV at this price range, so Q3 it's a good choice. My car it's not noisy, it's quite at 100km/h, and the ride quality it's really good, you just need to drive it on comfort mode :) I have an advanced model not an SLine.

    Agree on your videos - great, real-world content. Also helped me pick up a 2021 55 Prestige on the second-hand market. Bought in Feb 2024 and have driven about 3,000 miles. Average consumption 2.6 mi/kWh. Past 2 weeks with pleasant weather has given me 225-230 miles range. No bother, as I charge every or every other day at home, or opportunistically at local AC chargers. I don’t mind paying to use them if it encourages the city to keep them or possibly install more.

      2.6 is my long term average over the last couple of years. It’s far worse on short winter trips, often better in summer. 2.6 miles for 86kWh is 223 miles range, about what the EPA quote for range in the USA - their figures are usually more accurate than WLTP figures.

    Seeing the same from my e-tron 55, 220 or there about under 70mph or 70 on the dot, 2.8-9 m/kwh. I bet in town under 50mph, so the 20/30/40 mph zones the e-tron would do 300 miles easy. I have been seeing up to 4m/kwh while doing 30 mph... I think its the heat and the glide trick e-tron has.

    • @ski_tron2446
      @ski_tron2446 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always find it better on a long trip when everything gets to its optimum temperature and the thermal system scavenges waste heat and reuses it elsewhere. I have got a video showing you can match the WLTP 252 miles. Never seen 4.0 except downhill. Porsche and Audi think coasting is better than always on regen. I love the adaptive regen and using the paddles.

    • @logicpro8382

      @@ski_tron2446 100% the 4m/kwh was rolling down a long stretch of road in 21C heat, soon dropped to 3..then back to 2.8ish when I picked up speed, if you over take fast its 2.5. Coasting gets you to the high m/kwh, even on motorway, get up to 70, turn regen off with paddles, ease off or let off fully the accelerator, car seems to hardly lose pace, m/kwh goes up. I tested it this morning again, 17 miles trip down with 12 miles range from car. Hotter weather and coasting/glide work very well.

    Got a Tesla M3 needed to replace the A7 with EV for Business Use but didn't want another Tesla since Musk got rid of parking sensors a, indicator and drive selector stalks, so got a BYD Seal. BYD is a really lovely car to drive and has a HUD, which I value and something else Musk doesn't do, albeit the BYD HUD does not display SatNav info. Unsurprisingly for a Chinese made car, the BYD charge flap and washer filler bottle cap are cheap and nasty, and more surprisingly the car is let down by poor MMI. Having the driver seat position selection buried in the MMI settings menu is just too damn silly. If the last driver was a dwarf you get into the car, which has positioned the seat nicely for ingress and shut the door whereupon you get crushed up against the steering column whilst you start the MMI, for which weirdly you have to depress the brake pedal. You then wait for The MMI to launch, before you can go down 2 menu options to seat settings to select your memorised position (The trick is not to close the door until you have selected the seat position, so it stays in the ingress position). Notwithstanding these issues it is a very comfortable car to drive and very sporty. It also looks great. PS It was also at least £30,000 cheaper than the Audi ETron GT, which I could not get in time for the financial year!

      Difficult to criticise the seal for being a little cheap around the edges, it's a £20,000 car in China so although it's priced quite premium over here it really shouldn't be judged as such.

      @@burnerone8345 Weirdly though the finish is very good with doors closing beautifully, compared to the doors on the Tesla that are misaligned. Another odd thing is they don't fit the dashcam for the European market. The cabling and mount for it are all there in the overhead binnacle. The pity is unlike the Tesla you cannot use the vehicle cameras to record. Unlike the Tesla this car has been designed to behave like an ICE car.

    I'm strongly considering getting a 2022 plate E-Tron 55 SUV soon. The main reason being the current pricing, at the moment I'm driving a highly over-valued Petrol Mercedes that has kept 95% of its value from new in 2019 (thanks Covid and Brexit) that I want to sell whilst its got a high price, and want to buy a slightly used EV because they've already depreciated. I can see I can pick up a 22 plate E-Tron 55 that was around £80k when new, for as little as £35k here in the UK with less than 10k miles on it, which is mad. I'm expecting them to hold their value for several years at least. I drive very little (only about 400 miles a month), and can count on 1 hand how many times I've done more than 200 miles in a day in the last 5 years, so range isn't an issue for me at all. I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be concerned about? Home charging isn't an issue, and the 55 performance looks like it's genuinely very quick, a lot quicker than 99% of cars on the road. It's the comfort factor that's pulling me in too, the ride and noise level's just look amazing.

      It is an incredibly refined car, superb comfort. Range is ample for most and charging still amongst the best for longer trips. They are a bit light on equipment, not much is added to standard cars but there are lots of ex lease cars out there so you’ll find one that’s right for you. I’d buy Audi approved used with a warranty, recently had a subscriber pick one up for about £27k. Got a great package including a charger with fitting (worth about £900), warranty MOTs and services.

    My 2021 Audi e-tron with 56,000 miles lost a lot of range suddenly November 2023. A 100% charge range of only 171 miles. An 80% charge range of 156 miles. This never went back up either. The temperature never went below 50° outside. I always charge at 80% unless I'm taking a trip And I do this every night at home. I rarely use a fast charger unless I'm taking a trip and need to get home. I spoke to Audi about this and they said the battery health was fine, battery degradation was normal and that there were no error codes so the battery was in good health. This is ridiculous to me. Not to mention that a $75,000 vehicle is now only worth $32,000 for trade in value. And now the e-tron has a battery recall due to a fire risk. Before the battery issues, the car was one of my favorites. And I was all on board the electric vehicle evolution. Not so much now.

      Batteries haven’t been recalled in Europe (It’s the same battery). Sounds to me like a faulty cell in one or two of the battery packs. That knocks the voltage down for those packs and has an overall impact. Push for a more thorough investigation, or just wait if you will get a new battery.

With my old charger I simply plug in and leave the timers in the car to manage the charge. no Apps needed. Simplicity itself. Or I could take your ICE to the local petrol station and spend several minutes holding a cold nozzle as I put fuel into the car, then pay a lot of money for the priviledge.
