@@ronithreddy.k6683 I feel like it's proportional to population size. It's just facts that in California almost every city is huge so naturally youll also have higher numbers of stats in everything. You just gotta find out where to not go at night

@@ronithreddy.k6683 No absolutely not. The surrounding neighborhoods are completely safe. I will say, if you go through University Ave, in between these apartments and UCR, it is considered the "ghetto"... But even then it's being gentrified like crazy so it's much safer than it was 10-20 years ago. You will find homeless, but that's any major city in CA. I love Riverside, so much that I moved back since I posted the comment. Don't believe all rumors you hear about Riverside. It's a BEAUTIFUL city with sooo much to offer, from rural areas to inner city. Riverside is the epitome of a melting pot and you can find anything and everything so long as you try to find it. I hope this answers your question 😁

Spent nearly half our lives raising our children in the north west area of Norte Vista Estates. (To call them 'estates' is a bit of a stretch though) Good times. Christmas was fun with the 36,000 lights. The 4th of July block parties. Starting our lives and growing to the adults we are today with the memories. Our home was her childhood home. Moved out after 23 years early 2016 to move to my childhood home in Norco to later get the hell out of California.
I grew up in Riverside. I even attended UCR. I left for Alaska 23 years ago, but this all still looks familiar. I can't say that there is much I miss about Riverside except the dry weather.

It's not very danger near uc riverside. You'll be fine, just don't walk around at night. Keep pepper spray on you. You should always be aware of your surroundings. I've never had a problem in riverside just creepy men sexually harassing me, but that's about it. The university village area is really nice and a lot of college students hangout there. Mount rubidoux is a nice place to go on a little hike and get some exercise. There's hangar 18 it's a rock climbing gym in riverside. Downtown is a nice place to walk, there's a lot of stores, and a food hall called the food lab. I like to study at the coffee shop back to the grind. I'd avoid san Bernardino, but other than that I feel like the surrounding cities are nice. Grand Terrace is quiet, loma linda is safe, Redlands is uppity, etc. Just don't go walking around with expensive clothes and your laptop out and you're good.

Just a suggestion, when you refer to a drive thru. Don’t take the least traffic friendly streets or directions possible. There is a rhythm to Riverside‘s traffic flow. You did not capture it.
