Few schools are, this tbh comes off the same as most schools. Unless you're a 'troubled' kid or a kid who needs to get out of class otherwise he'll start hyperventilating, they don't pay attention.
Most schools help the same types of kids the same ways, unfortunately the ones who suffer in silence or their suffering isn't as apparent just have to cope by themselves. Can't even blame the schools 100%, where I do fault them is for giving too much time and attention to kids like Devonté (however you spell it) who yes has a bad hand in life, but doesn't make the effort to make best of the hand he has.

It's not exactly sustainable though, because there are other children in the class and it'll be perceived as favouritism. And then once it stops he'll start doing other shit to try and get attention again, as seen when he's in a class without the lady or a teacher who is praising him and giving him attention around the clock.

A ikr more teachers need to realise it. I have anxiety which resulted in me struggling with school refusal and not able to attend all my lessons. The teachers attitude and the “vibe” in the classroom was the single biggest factor in my anxiety levels. If you have a teacher who uses positive reinforcement the classroom is less tense so people don’t feel the need to act up. It literally benefits everyone.

This program outlines how school is really not a healthy environment for kids who suffer panic attacks. I witnessed it first hand that the school piles so much unnecessary pressure on the child to achieve a ridiculous number of grades and completely overlooks the effect all that added stress has on the mental health of a 15/ 16 year old. Charlie even says himself that it dosent matter about getting A grades as long as he passes but the staff still keep pushing him which causes his anxiety to flare up and that causes more panic attacks. It's a vicious circle.

As much as i appreciate how the teachers obviously care deeply for every kid they meet, the way they handled his panic attacks was so out of line. It's not a ''freak out'' or something you ''get over''. Once you've had a panic attacks, it will take a long time before you can operate ''normally'' because the nervous system is weakened. It's not just a ''mentall'' thing. I wish they would understand how his anxious is real to him and he needs to comfort in order to overcome. I've had anxiety for 3 years now and I'm just now learning to ignore it. Learning to cope with it is the first step though!

As a person Diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder. You CAN NOT stop a panic attack. It is a physical reaction to mental thoughts. I am on medication after many trial runs with different medication. I am now on one of the best medications for treating this and they still happen, the medication is a way to tone down our symptoms not get rid of them. Please don't say you can beat it if they have been diagnosed with it.

Basically they might feel important right now because of how much the teachers hype them up, but in reality they seriously dont matter lmaooo. The grade boundaries to enter most colleges are pretty low and super achievable and universities basically just look at your college grades and your personal statement so dont stress. Just chill my guy and they'll be super easy for you

Charlie, you are way better than many others including my young self. You speak in class, you sing in front of your friends, etc. I was imprisoned in my own mind & body. Top student but still unable to answer in class. My heart will be racing, voice shaking, and cheeks blushing if I was asked to answer. Exams were nightmare too. Good news is it's something we can all get rid of with a bit of hard work & mindset changing. From a chilw unable to talk in class, I turned into a lady who gave presentations, talks, socialize. I'm still the same I'm just more aware of my mind & better at managing it.
Charlie will do well too. Even better. Read about this, listen to other people success stories & be inspired by them, practice & you'll do wonders. At the end of thd day, other people are just human beings like us

I see a lot of comments about “my school didn't help me”. Teachers and school staff do not have the resources to help everyone. They have to forecast and prioritise the students who need it most, they don't get it right everytime, especially if you were a student who quietly got on with it, even with big problems. As someone that could have really used the help, but didn't ask for it, I have learned later in life that you need to let people know. Wishing I'd learnt that sooner doesn't make it the school's fault.
