I just noticed the whistling when she’s baiting w the french guy - (for a lot of Native cultures) whistling draws out dark spirits, especially at night. Naru thinks the predator is a spirit, so she whistles to draws its attention.
that’s why to take him down Naru had to outsmart him and trick him. when fighting the predator you have to be an incredibly skilled warrior but you have to play it very smart as well
I believe the Predators follow a Code of Conduct. Such as no killing innocent or unarmed people. If a Predator is challenged to single combat, they have to fight on fair ground. Thats why he went hand to hand with the bear after it sized him up. However, all that goes out the window when it comes to the Xenomorph. Those things are kill on sight.

Her brother was the Apex Predator. Given his skill I was surprised he just stood there after he went invisible. I know they had to have her fight it but they coulda found a better way to kill him. Other than that it was good.
Dats a paddlin- nah there was no other way to kill him. The predator had to resort to cheating to win. Thats why he screams “cheater” bc he knows the predator had to break its own rules to beat him. There was no other way to kill the brother without pissing off the audience.

esp considering it was Dakota Beaver's first acting role. he's a musician thinking he could break into hollywood doing bit parts while pursuing his music career. he wasn't expecting this to land on his lap just like that.

You said "imagine going paint balling with the predator". Here in the uk we have a paintball park where 2 teams face off but through the games a real life size predator with semi auto pain ball machine guns is going round the park looking for prey from both teams. If your remain still he wont shoot you, and theres a few other rules i cant remember. But its a great addition to the paintball experience! and extremely terrifying when your eyeing up a shot and in your peripheral you see the dreadlocks swaying towards you!!
Prey was a good movie, because in the movie, they told the story of 2 types of predators, 1) was that alien with the dreads, and 2) was the Europeans and how they preyed upon indigenous people on Earth.

They were coming back to honour her and give her the respect she deserved. They would’ve given her a trophy, and she most likely gave one back - the gun. That’s how the Predators got the gun, which they gave to Glover’s character in Predator 2, again in honour.

I'm a First Nation from Alberta, Canada and loved this movie. It was filmed on one of my Reservation called Morley (Stoney Nakota). But 38:45 made me laugh because homie impersonated Schwarzenegger
I had zero expectations for this movie after that last movie but mann this is lit 🔥🔥🔥. This deserves to be in theater. This movie is so great that I want to rank it one but first movie is like a memory for me so its stays top forever. One of the top 3 movies came out in 2022.
An interesting thing I think they can do for sequels is if they take the predator throughout history and different time periods battling other cultures and civilizations
@@christophergongora7885 I heard that too; I was kind of bummed to find out it was just dubbed. I ended up watching the English version just because the out of sync mouth movements just loses the immersion for me.
This movie understood that the original PREDATOR was a slasher movie like Friday the 13th except the camp counselors had machine guns and Arnold was the “final girl”. Trachtenberg took the franchise back to its roots by fallowing the slasher formula with action elements instead of trying to make an all-out action movie.
I'm honestly conflicted about whether this is better than the OG Predator, but this is definitely in the top 2. Those fights were visceral. Also, slight note, love that you guys watched the Comanche dub. That's what I did, and I'll watch the regular version, but I wanted it to feel accurate to the times.
Loved the movie. This Predator was like a year 2 Batman, full of rage and wasn't giving a f*ck. Completely going toe to toe with anything & everything even if it meant opening itself up to attack on multiple sides
39:44 That pistol should look familiar: it's the same Greyback (the elder Predator) gave to Harrigan (Danny Glover). But Greyback got it, in the comics, from a pirate captain.
Maybe as the credits of prey show, the predators attacked the settlement where Naru lived and whoever managed to escape took the pistol and exchanged it for food or anything else with traders, and as the time is 1719, piracy was still a thing..right? (i honestly dont know soo) anyway, maybe the pistol kept getting taken and sold until it reached the pirate??
While I think I would have liked to see her motivations fleshed out just a lil’ bit more, she literally used everything she learned against the predator. Even the first thing her brother taught her about hunting the hawk foreshadows how she kills the predator.
Watch the credits it tells the story of the movie with a surprise at the end! When the pictures shows she returns, the very end shows more predator space crafts.
I couldn't get over the cosmetic of the Predator, There were times I had to pause the movie to really get a good look at the predator, from the helmet to the plasma arrow cannon, to the tribal shield, just everything about the Predator in this movie was just A1, they did The predator Justice 👌🔥
I loved how she referred to the Predator ship as the Thunderbird from Native American mythology of a great giant bird that when it flapped its wings, it would make the sound of thunder. I also liked the call back to the flint lock pistol that the Predator gave to Danny Glover in Predator 2.
I definitely want to see those landscapes on the big screen. Naru standing on a cliff looking at the spaceship, Naru and the lion up the tree, the frikking bear in everything, running from the Predator through the field, Taabe throwing a spear in midair. Yo, gimme Taabe's dimples in HD!!
Kudos to Dan Trachtenberg too because he directed the hell out of this movie, and it should have been released in theatres although that last movie was bad that I can kind of understand why it didn't. The cinematography and the action sequences were on point, and this is easily the most beautiful looking Predator film in the franchise.
100% Badass Film. Beautifully shot , great gore , great fights defenitely in the Top Three Predator Films. Hopefully we get a Sequel , same Director please!
Fun fact: The breed of dog in this movie is Carolina Dog AKA American Dingo! They were used by natives all across North America for thousand of years. You can still find breeders and dogs of this variety today. Just be aware that they are super smart, mischievous, and energetic if you decide to take one home.
Part I think ya'll overlooked. The Predator sees heat signatures. The yellow flower she gave the French solider lowers his body temperature. That why the injured man couldn't be seen and how it couldn't see her.
This movie would have been great in a theater with a crowd. To me, it had a different look and feel from the other movies, I can't put my finger on why, but it was damn good.
This was really good, i love the connection to the Predator 2. The gun she got is the one Danny Glover is given at the end of that movie. I don't know how they get it, but they do.

I like that this Predator likes getting hit, felt like a personality trait and it showed he just got here. In Predator 1, it was almost too easy because he had defeated a similar team and scouted their "rescue mission.".
She speared the mountain lion(cougar) before she fell. She definitely landed a critical hit on it. Her brother was being an a** good on him for admitting to her later that indeed she initially killed it.

You guys should have watched the animations during the credits because it retells the entire movie and at the end of the animation you see the Predator ship returning which means SEQUEL. Also the flint lock pistol she was given by the French translator, is the same pistol the Predator gives Danny Glover's character at the end of Predator 2.

39:45 FYI The pistol that says Raphael Adolini 1715 was actually the same pistol that was gifted to Danny Glover by the elder predator in the final scene of the movie Predator 2 (1990), so it's a really cool easter egg that the Prey director decided to use.
What made the bear fight scene so scary was Native Americans saw bears as guardians and unkillable and for her to see a bear get killed like that was truly terrfiying in her eyes
Predator 2 is severely underrated. It’s interesting to me to watch the opinion turn on the original Alien vs Predator movie, since EVERYBODY lambasted it when it first came out.
That is because the predators return to annihilate everyone in the tribe and keep the gun as a trophy. They later give it to Danny Glover's character in Predator 2 as a mark of respect.
I love this movie and I love the fact y'all reacted to it especially with the green theme to match. I saw this movie twice an I loved it more the second time with things I forgot about. But you guys do great reactions and evaluations, I'm just here for it.
Great movie that washed the stink of "The Predator" off the franchise. Can't wait to see where they go from here, different timeliness, different types of Predator..glad this movie happened, I wasn't sure about it at first and was SO glad I was wrong. My only gripe is that the brother and sister didn't team up to kill the Predator, the brothers brief fight was so fking epic and savage he was cool. Period piece Predator movies are an untapped fountain of awesome. Also need an AVP movie set in the future, with Space Marines..like please. 🤣

I couldn't get over the cosmetic of the Predator, There were times I had to pause the movie to really get a good look at the predator, from the helmet to the plasma arrow cannon, to the tribal shield, just everything about the Predator in this movie was just A1, they did The predator Justice 👌🔥

I loved how she referred to the Predator ship as the Thunderbird from Native American mythology of a great giant bird that when it flapped its wings, it would make the sound of thunder. I also liked the call back to the flint lock pistol that the Predator gave to Danny Glover in Predator 2.
This movie was EXCELLENT! Dare I say better than the first in my opinion. I would definitely buy this and put it amongst my collection.
I definitely want to see those landscapes on the big screen. Naru standing on a cliff looking at the spaceship, Naru and the lion up the tree, the frikking bear in everything, running from the Predator through the field, Taabe throwing a spear in midair. Yo, gimme Taabe's dimples in HD!!
Kudos to Dan Trachtenberg too because he directed the hell out of this movie, and it should have been released in theatres although that last movie was bad that I can kind of understand why it didn't. The cinematography and the action sequences were on point, and this is easily the most beautiful looking Predator film in the franchise.

Fun fact: The breed of dog in this movie is Carolina Dog AKA American Dingo! They were used by natives all across North America for thousand of years. You can still find breeders and dogs of this variety today. Just be aware that they are super smart, mischievous, and energetic if you decide to take one home.
Part I think ya'll overlooked. The Predator sees heat signatures. The yellow flower she gave the French solider lowers his body temperature. That why the injured man couldn't be seen and how it couldn't see her.
This movie would have been great in a theater with a crowd. To me, it had a different look and feel from the other movies, I can't put my finger on why, but it was damn good.
This was really good, i love the connection to the Predator 2. The gun she got is the one Danny Glover is given at the end of that movie. I don't know how they get it, but they do.
During the end credit cinematic you see 3 more Predator ships arriving. I have a feeling any sequel will show how they got that trophy.

Watched this with my father and we both loved it.
I like that this Predator likes getting hit, felt like a personality trait and it showed he just got here. In Predator 1, it was almost too easy because he had defeated a similar team and scouted their "rescue mission.".
This is one of the most enjoyable films in the past few years.
That bear scene was amazing.
She speared the mountain lion(cougar) before she fell. She definitely landed a critical hit on it. Her brother was being an a** good on him for admitting to her later that indeed she initially killed it.

You guys should have watched the animations during the credits because it retells the entire movie and at the end of the animation you see the Predator ship returning which means SEQUEL. Also the flint lock pistol she was given by the French translator, is the same pistol the Predator gives Danny Glover's character at the end of Predator 2.

39:45 FYI The pistol that says Raphael Adolini 1715 was actually the same pistol that was gifted to Danny Glover by the elder predator in the final scene of the movie Predator 2 (1990), so it's a really cool easter egg that the Prey director decided to use.
As soon as I saw the trappers I instantly knew there would be a gun that was the same from predator 2. That was really awesome to see.
What made the bear fight scene so scary was Native Americans saw bears as guardians and unkillable and for her to see a bear get killed like that was truly terrfiying in her eyes

That is because the predators return to annihilate everyone in the tribe and keep the gun as a trophy. They later give it to Danny Glover's character in Predator 2 as a mark of respect.

Nice little reference to Predator 2 with the pistol which might mean that the other Predators eventually take out that tribe and keep the pistol as a trophy. The Predator literally had the worst last line in the movie. "That's my new suit bubba, got it in a 42 long?"
