As usual excellent video. This is an angle plug type NRV. I have two questions: 1) What does turn down mean (as mentioned in the end of this video)? What is burner turn down and valve turndown? 2) There is no spring in this valve. So the only inertia is the weight of the plug and back pressure of header? Thanking you for your valuable time.
I believe turn down is a ratio of your boiler hi to low firing rate. I could be wrong but my memory is telling me that cuz i read or heard it some where
Is it normal for condensate to leak by and raise the water level in the boiler? We have three boilers in parallel and one of them has been having this issue - at least that is what we think is happening. How do we fix this problem? Thanks for the video
@@luciusbrutus13th from the drain plug on the valve itself? We don’t. Right now the drain plug is just a plug - no piping/valves attached to get rid of the condensate. Should something be added there? For context I’m a relatively new engineer
so, the banging that I hear is not always from pipes expanding and contracting from heat / changes in flow. Good to know and another preventative maintenance item to check!
We have 2 low pressure boilers in parallel and one valve is not holding back the pressure. they dont look like the ones you are showing, they are just swing valve like a regular check valve you would see. Do we have the wrong type of valve? In case your wondering the boiler with the faulty valve does flood with water during the off cycle. I
Since these are low pressure valves a swing check is the best one to use. These valves can take a beating when in service. The ones you have are likely to be worn out. Fortunately these valves are not expensive. If the header is discharging vertically a steam trap can be installed downstream to the check valve to eliminate the condensate as it forms in the vertical header. This will work as long as the swing check is not completely worn out. We also recommend two drip legs with traps on the collection header if you have a collection header. Two drip legs provide redundancy. Hopefully that helps! If you need more info please give us a call! Thanks for the question
