The thing about TOOL, like Led Zeppelin, is that there are many bands around today that will be largely forgotten in 10 years.
10, 20, 40, 60, 80 years time, and beyond, people will still be listening to and talking about them.
We are here now, alive at a time when this timeless band is still here with us, making music, and touring.... playing for us!
How god damn lucky are we!

I started watching your reactions because of Tool. LOVE your reactions, and I ended up subscribing to your channel because you react to many of my favorite bands. I've even come to appreciate other music that I probably wouldn't have even listened to if it weren't for you! One of my other favorite bands, that I would LOVE to see you react to is Clutch. I haven't seen anyone react to them yet, and it would be amazing if you were the first. It's hard to recommend any one song, (because they are ALL good) but I think "What Would a Wookie Do" would be right up your alley. THANK YOU for being so REAL!!!

When a friend gave me a copy of 'Salival', and I saw there was a cover version of No Quarter on there (long been one of my top Zeppelin tracks), I was so intrigued to hear it - and boy they didn't disappoint!! The original is about as trippy a song as you can get. Tool took the trippy vibe and made it METAL!! They made it their own while still leaving the core element of what makes this song so amazing. I pretty much lost my sh!t after hearing it. Pretty much solidified my opinion that Tool can do no wrong!!

    Love this song.
There is a rock band out of Monterrey, Mexico called The Warning these three sister are phenomenal. Here is a sample of one of their original songs called Dust to Dust which is a prologue to their second album Queen of the Murder Scene. This is from their Foro Didi concert in Monterrey, Mexico June 14, 2019. The entire video is 1hr 36mins long so I am just time stamping the song I mentioned. All of their song are in English except one, Narcisista which is their first Spanish song. They are embarking on a North America tour from Mexico, USA, and Canada and their third studio album which they are completely crowd funding through Kickstarter. At present they are 420% funded with 805 backers and there is 19 days left in the campaign.
    Band members.
Daniela (Dany) 20, main lead vocals, guitar, piano
Paulina (Pau, pronounce Pow) 18, Drums, piano
Alejandra (Ale, pronounced Al-hey) 15, Bass, piano

I had the privilege of seeing Tool at Starwood Amphitheatre in Nashville Tennessee Lollapalooza 1997. I was under the influence of Timothy Leary and I will never forget Maynard stomping around the stage the whole show. I think they outdid LZ on this one. Clearly very talented and professional musicians who made NQ their own, wrote their own lyrics, and delivered flawlessly.

I have always loved Tool for the way they force you to think and actually look at things in a new light.
There writing style is unique where the music is finished before Maynard comes in for the lyrics.
Thank you for the great reactions and takes on the wide array of music.
Schism is another great example of tool of making you stop and really think about the relationships around you.
Thanks and can’t wait to see more reactions!

    • @nooooo131
      @nooooo131 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Travis Jordan it is compared to the vast majority of musicians, who only one or two members come up with all music and lyrics. While the rest just play the music someone else wrote. I have nothing against someone’s creativity in anyway. I say it is unique for the fact all four are responsible for there own parts without the music being wrote for them is all.

Each one of them is so talented, and to be a front man with a voice like Maynards and to have the humbleness to get out of the way when necessary so the magic can happen. In the world of Rock & Metal covers, there are three songs that stand out.
No Quarter - Tool (covered Led Zepp)
The Man Who Sold The World - Nirvana (covered Bowie)
Am I Evil? - Metallica (covered Diamond Head)
The greatest thing about these covers is exactly the point you mentioned - paying homage to great music but doing that in their own style.

What is even more amazing about Tool is .. a lot of what you think is a guitar solo is actually a bass guitar using distortion and doing his solos then the guitarist easing in and doing is over the top of the bass as the bass goes back to the groove. Guitar does groove while bass solos and the the guitar comes in for solo while bass goes back to groove. Hard to tell difference unless watch live

Hey FAM, long time subscriber, I came for the Tool and stayed for the Tool, I love it when your eyes light up as you get into the lyrics. You are out here doing God's work man! Proving that good music, a groove that grabs you, and a message that sticks can transcend every boundary. When people try to separate us based on genre, country, race, creed, politics, age ,and any other imaginary line that doesn't matter guys like you are showing the world that its the music that unites us all and won't let those in control ever divide us. You give me hope that the music will live on and keep people together long after we are gone. With that said, please one day look at "Hooker with a Penis" and "Rosetta Stoned" (with lyrics) by Tool. Thank you so much! Keep up the good work!

I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan...first time listener of Tool...This song is like the first time Luke (Stars Wars: Empire Strikes Back) journeys the dark side while training with Yoda...Yoda basically tells him, you only need to be afraid of what you take in there with you...Jamel, you are correct...back in the day...this is Led's deepest darkest song...the journey is up to you...be careful not to try and 'escape' too far...else you won't be coming back~

#TakeABow No doubt man, this song legit gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes.....you just gotta let it take you and spit you back out on the other side. I still clearly recall the day I learned Tool covered Ledd Zepplin....It's been the same ever since. A true masterpiece of a cover. Salival is an amazing collection of the immensity that is Tool. The same album with the alternate version of Pushit live, I mean...c'moonnn! ! I hope you get a chance to see them live if you haven't already. They are in Australia now, but will be coming back. I was lucky enough to see them last November here in Boston, and it was just on a whole different level man. Great review and reaction as always man!

Gotta say, Tool really nailed it in the beginning of the song. It sounded very much like the original band. Had the wahwah pedal wailing. But later on in the middle it had that definite TOOL/ Perfect Circle sound.

tdawggonzo88 hardly most of their songs, most of the songs that were “stolen” they took some lyrics to and they weren’t straight up covers, you listen to killing floor and lemon song and sure they pulled lyrics but over all the songs are vastly different. Which yes you can call that stealing but all their albums now have those artist listed in the liner notes so it’s a dead argument. Still the coolest band ever, and they still Rock so who gives a fuck.

Well it's more complicated than that. Warner Bros. owns the Zep catalog so it could be seen as their fault as to why permission to use Zep songs for videos like this gets denied. But the the band also has certain rights under their contract with Warner so any use of their songs have to go through them as well. Ultimately who wants to jump through 50 hoops in order to do a reaction video? And considering they'd have to jump through those hoops for each and every potential video that has any Zep songs in it. You're not gonna do it, and y-tube isn't gonna do it for you on your behalf, so don't expect it to change anytime soon.

Zeppelin will always be Zeppelin But Tool doing Zeppelin well that’s a horse of a different color. They do keep it real but add Tool styling to it. And they do a masterful job at making it worthy. It’s a about respect for the music and honoring the classics.

Schism, H., Swamp Song, The Patient, Third Eye, 4°, Push It, Bottom, The Grudge, You Lied, and Opiate are just a few amazing and underrated Tool songs. Agostina by Puscifer is a beautifully written song about his daughter. The Humbling River, Momma Sed, The Rapture, The Remedy also amazing songs from Puscifer. By and Down, Breña, Blue, and 3 Libras by A Perfect Circle are also awesome songs. I'm a HUGE fan of Maynard James Keenan, if you can't tell😂

It was wierd because I found zep 1 on a football field in cassette. My father(I miss you Dad) had told me for years zep was the best. I called him a liar. I liked Tool. Look at me now. And the song is so fitting for my life. Tool stole nothing. They enhanced it. Payed homage.....both are now, for me, the best. Thanks man.

One of my fav tool songs even though it’s a cover the album it comes from is rare and way to expensive but it’s an awesome track really love that warbly leslie effect on the guitar and Maynards vocals are ethereal and otherworldly

I agree that bands covering songs from the greats are meant to pay homage to the influencers. Tool does a great job of not just covering a song, but shining a different light on it, making you look at it from a different angle.

My first time hearing Tool cover this song was back in the 90's at one of their live shows. I was blown away then and when it came out on Salival, I had to buy it. Even bigger bonus on the CD is their altered version of Pushit. I actually now prefer the alt version over the original, though both are obviously amazing.
