One of the only bands I can say from personal experience that sound better live then on their recordings. Stoked you’re doing this song. Keep up the cool work.
My understanding is that tool did this cover for a zeppelin tribute album but were only given 8 minutes... They came in at over 11 minutes and refused to cut the song down, which is why they released it on the salival album. Everytime I hear it I never say this what they should have cut out. Just an amazing take on a classic song.

As a huge Tool and Led Zeppelin fan, this is not only my favorite from the Zepp, but also my favorite Tool song.
You are definitely a full fledged Tool fan, OGT, back in 92, off their first EP :)
"Out of all of the Tool songs, I've never heard anything that powerfully riffed out." Tempest waits...
I've always had this thought of how cool it would have been if Tool had performed this jam in front of Page, Plant and Jones at the Rock N Roll hall of fame induction ceremony.
That would have been legendary...however the three would have left their seats and come down to jam with TooL
TOOL are one of the very few TRUE examples of a band and or musicians. Only complimenting one another instead of competing with each other. In my opinion lol great video man!
Justin is insane ! He does a lot of volume swells while Dany does his "swells", that middle part Justin just does magic with a flanger + delay pedal and some picking scrapping on the strings
YESSSS!!!! This is one of the greatest covers I’ve ever heard. Please keep the reactions coming!
Thank you for listening to us once again, love ya geebz
Dude, thank you so much for what you're doing!! hahah. I wasn't expecting this song and man did I ever get chicken skinned. Such a passionate take on one of Zep's finest!
Thanks Geebz! Still here! Keep’em coming!
I think you'd dig Puscifer's cover of Bohemian Rhapsody :) Maybe consider giving it a reaction or at the very least give it a listen in your spare time. Cheers buddy!
That breakdown is spiritual. I love this cover so much.
It's weird that you say you're not an artist. To me you are very much an artist, just from a different angle.
I have no concept of music theory. It is so cool to hear the why behind things that I like.
Congrats on 100k. That must be some type of YT record.
This Is a master piece. Thx, salu2
This is my favorite cover of all time! I got to see them perform it live in 2015 at the AZ Monster Mash Festival. They were all dressed as the members of Zepplin for Halloween. I wish Tool would put out another live album. Do Lucid Planet please! Also the Opiate and Undertow stuff is a lot more raw and intense than their newer stuff when you get around to those.
I was there too. Primus and Coheed and Cambria killed it as well.
Aaand a year later...I was there too! First time seeing Tool and Puscifer. Primus and Coheed were amazing.
@@portercvu it was a great show but I was dead tired after standing around for 8 hours haha. Worth it though.
I saw this live 1996 lollapalooza with Paul on bass and it was amazing. After Maynard said we wrote that song and if you are older than 25 you know the truth
Sir, it´s been a pleasure to follow your channel, specially the Tool reactions. Don´t burn yourself man, we will be here, the Tool army ain´t going nowhere.
Saw them live 23 times through the late 90~s and early 00~s the effect on his voice is a alien voice changer toy. Saw it in person at lala p. in 96.
The Grudge, Eulogy, Ænema, Vicarious, Jambi, Flood.
I'm sure most of these are on your list already, but I haven't yet seen anyone suggest Flood. You should really check it out, it's a good'un
Insane that this whole album is live. The only time you can tell is when Maynard and/or fans are interacting. I saw them in Detroit for Fear Inoculum, it was incredible.
geebz, man, you're great! don't listen to the haters, if they had their way, the world would be in a permanent nuclear winter, from all their shade. your reaction to meshugguh was well done! love your insight, bruh. keep it up!
What haters..?
Seriously, I never came across any hate in the comment sections🤔
There's nearly 0 haters in the comments, maybe you should take your own advice.
Nuclear Hater Shade
@@hoist8111 yousee any shade in that comment? where?
I've been waiting for this video forever thanks for finally uploading it.
😂
Me too
When I saw them playing the song live Maynard was using a megaphone.
Geebz, my fiancee found ur page a while back and we have loved watching you fall in love with Tool, one of our favorite bands. Thank you for all your awesome videos. I hope to watch you discover Eulogy, it is my personal favorite song of there's.
Stay awesome and please always be your self on here, and stop apologizing for stopping the song to add to the experience it's why we watch you.
Probably my all time favorite cover!
Yes...Geebz bro...I freakin'loved your facial expressions...dude I watched you use your finger to hold your third eye 👁️ closed...😂😂😂😂. That was hilarious watching your face... your body language was great. Spiral out my friend...
Infact I get chills everytime I hear this. It never ever fails!
I saw them do this live sometime in the mid-nineties in so-cal. Maynard was in a bra with a Robert Plant wig and Adam was dressed as Jimmy Page and it was the most amazing live show I’d ever seen. The goosebumps I got during this song were over my whole body. One of the best bands you will ever see, their live sound is better then the recording. I’ve been to hundreds of shows and seen Tool many times, their stage presence, attention to detail and sound quality are second to none.
Yes. Great choice in likely the best cover of all time by any band. Cheers!
Rumor has it that TooL was asked to play this at Led Zeppelin Tribute. However, on the condition they shorten the time on the piece, the band refused.
T H E G R U D G E.
The fucking final boss of Tool. Super underrated!
True
I would appreciate a lateralus unplugged version
@@skippityblippity8656 there's a Lateralus unplugged version?
@@skippityblippity8656 what is lateralus unplugged?
@@timothymadison6305 no but if they did one id frek ou
@@timothymadison6305 have you heard the "Holy Gift"
A re-order of the album.
Top reaction channel. Congrats on 100k!
Alright !!! Potions by puscifer on the recycle
ELDER. - dead roots stirring. For some great prog.
Let’s find the one on an epic journey. I am still here.
Thanks broski. Aloha.
oh yes, ELDER!
For me there is always something special about watching a person listen to a tool song you love for the first time. Especially how you vibe to it, and then drop some of your in depth composer knowledge. Makes me love tool even more
Just incredible, Most haunting version I've ever heard. Pace yourself bro, I'm really enjoying this. Better than any of the garbage that's on TV.
I’ve listened to this song forty seven thousand times and never noticed the acoustic guitar. This channel is sonically omniscient.
Tool actually had king buzzo from the Melvin's do that overdubbed guitar solo in the middle!
Congratulations on 100k !!
Awesome work my dude.. 🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦕
Grats on 100K!!! Maynard uses a megaphone live a lot, and would not be surprised if he was actually using one in studio. I don't think it was done in post for this reason. Great vid, great react. Thanks man
Hes used a megaphone all 4 times i saw them live so you could be onto something there
I am generally not a fan of Zepp, Floyd, or the Beatles being covered, but this truly captures the journey Zepp helped TOOL discover for themselves. An amazing one of kind version of a one of a kind song. Love TOOL. Love Zepp
Congratulations man! I've never seen a channel grow so fast, and it's all because of your vibe.
been watching since the Pneuma live drum reaction. absolutely love the vids keep it up you'll be at 1 million subs in no time.
Geebz, you're the man! honestly one of the greatest covers of all time. Listen to the live album sometime . What comes after this song is pretty funny and then there's a track that is not on any album , but it is about a very personal item !
Man, I continue to be blown away with how resonant your song selection is with my list of deep cuts... I don’t remember the last time I actually listened to this version, but can’t shake how hard this hits. Such a heavy heavy song 🤘🏼😑🤘🏼
I love how geebz gets so into the tunes!!
A third eye purple level of breakdown, keep em coming dude!
Your first Tool reaction just popped up. Was really cool seeing your first FIRST reaction. I came a little late. Spiral out!
I highly recommend Feeling Good - Muse. Utilizes the megaphone, pretty cool
Congrats on 100k!
We've been waiting for this one. Glad to see you getting into it. As others have said, you REALLY need to check out the live version of Pushit, from the same album (Salival). It's an absolute masterpiece.
Glad to be a part of it all Geebz!
Geebz, great choice to celebrate reaching 100,000 followers. Congratulations! I have been watching you since you dropped your very first video. In my opinion this is the greatest cover I've ever heard. Great analysis as usual. I learn a lot by listening to you.
Grats on 100k braddha!!! Hana hou! 🤙🏾☕
🎉 Cheeee huuuuu mt braddah - Mahalo!!
If you love riffage, wait until your hear Tempest!
It's crazy seeing you go from 2k to 100k so fast. We'll deserved 👏
Thank you 🙌 Is that not CRAZY??
Also, we would love to hear your remakes!
We appreciate you, greatly. Don't get pressured into cranking out tons of content constantly. We don't want you to burn out. There is SOOO much good metal(ish) music for you to discover and expand our understanding of. Plus watching YOU discover the music we all have loved seems to mean so much more than any other channel here. Hang in there and pace yourself, Brother!
