I spent this entire year trying every FPS game on the market none of them came close to the gameplay and just sheer volume of content. To really appreciate the game, instead of focusing on what we all find annoying, I started being a sherpa for new lights. You forget how much content there is and how amazing it all was for us in the beginning of this journey
For Destiny the gameplay is familiar, it has a challenge, the music slaps, great voice acting (R.I.P Lance), and OVERALL the guns feel right. Despite all of the corporate greed and dumb decisions.
Maybe it's just because I play alot of Battlefield, but I dunno about weapons feeling right. If anything, they make no sense. How do handguns outperform a autorifle?! And shotguns short ranges. It's like they asked someone from California to explain guns. Cant even customize the dang weapon sights! We need weapons 3.0
Because it's genuinely a fun FPS with space magic, cool mechanics, good music, beautiful settings and a cool ongoing story. It's the MCU of gaming at this point and Final Shape is endgame. Everything after this probably won't be as good from Bungie but the 10 years of Destiny was an amazing journey that I'm glad I stuck with. It's easy to only pay attention to the negative things like the lightfall campaign but hardly anybody talks about how good it feels to use the grapple hook. People say GoS is bad yet it's just a better version of VoG and probably the most beautiful raid in the game. It's easy to hate Bungie for the content vault but not address the fact that the game would probably be 200GB if they didn't do that. Nothing is perfect and even if Destiny 2 was, people would still hate it. Thanks for reading.
Well said. I’ve been here since the Beta and Day 1 of D1. I’m glad I’ve stuck with the series this long. I mean I bet like you, I’ve taken a long break from grinding the game time to time over the years but I always come back a month or so before the beginning of a new expansion.

Because the core of destiny is good and has basically always been good. No other company has replicated what destiny brought. Lore is great, music outstanding, great art direction, tight and fluid gameplay. It’s had it problems but they’ve done what they needed to do right. At the end of the day it’s a video game that’s fun to play especially with friends.

Whenever destiny is about to die, bungie turns into Gordon Ramsay and cooks up a banger the likes of which we weren't prepared for and then takes a break for the next year to year and a half then the cycle repeats
Lack of any serious competitor for its player base throughout its lifecycle. Most other games that come along and manage to get a portion of the D2 player base die out within a couple months and don't have staying power. Bungie, despite all of it's flaws and terrible development of the game, still manages to have some of the best movement and shooting mechanics in the FPS genre. It also has enough varied loot, build crafting, and weapons to keep things interesting. So many games that come out now just have cookie cutter cardboard weapons that feel bland. The core game has always been solid, the biggest issue has always been Bungie.

Funny to call it’s legacy that if it’s competitors, if the Final Shape fails. Especially considering that Destiny stands atop the skeletal remains of all its competition.
It’s survived so long because what other games offer gunplay, abilities, movement, pve, pvp, hell even great customisation in the same game like destiny does. I’ve been looking for games like it for so long but nothing can ever come close to what destiny 2 has created. I’ll be sad to see it go when it really starts dying, whenever that might be
I started playing it ever since it came to steam as F2P, and i have been playing ever since, the thing that keeps me coming back even after lile a month of a break is It's potential, we saw it with forsaken and witch queen
I've only ly played 1 game since destiny came out for me it's the perfect blend of things , pvp, pve, puzzles mechanics teamwork lore, I know it's had it's dark times but for me the bang for the buck is there!
Simply put d2 offers something no other game can offer on the market. A lot of people left after lightfall dropped and subsequent seasons but season of the wish and the free into the light up date have brought people back.
They sunset a whole bunch of weapons, then "reversed" that decision and then slowly re-introduced the weapons that had been sunset by either reskinning or straight up just putting them back in the game. Weapons that most people dismantled, and now people are expected to grind for the same weapons AGAIN and be HAPPY about it?? How the fuck is this the best fucking game?
Im pretty sure without my name is Byf the game woukd have died a long time ago. Only reason many people are still playing is they grew up with this story and want to see its conclusion. The only reason any of us really understand much of the story exepct for witch queen an somewhat forsaken was because of the lore videos hooking us into this world bungie crafted but told so terribly.
Whole video is just bashing on Destiny. I like it cause in the end, Destiny is still somehow alive and with Final Shape just on the horizon, a lot of guardians and kinderguardians are playing and grinding for final loot and bounties. Prepping for the release.
What's the point of doing a video like this on a game you clearly don't like? It just feels like you're throwing shade at the fans for playing something they like and that's frankly just sad
I started at alpha but I stopped playing after forsaken, I just had too many games begging for money at the time . I still follow it but I haven't played in a few years.
I've been playing since 2014, I stop playing for some time now, defending democracy, but now I'm back for the Final Shape, don't know, there's something in this game that always makes me come back.
One of the best games ever made. While it has extreme ups and downs, it has remained extremely fun, challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and engaging. There is still unreal potential for where it could go but I wish they weren’t afraid of the game size. COD is massive and doesn’t stop anybody from prioritizing it on their SSD. If Bungie put more effort into creative live events and activities, it could just be the absolute best game of all time. The D2 community has so many amazing ideas of where it could go but I agree that they end up recycling too much and sticking to formulas.
Its funny because destiny bounces back and forth on that line of how well a live service can be and how bad it can be. It really showcases the good and the bad very well. I also think a lot of people including myself just didn't want to leave without finishing the story we started. But even more so destiny has always had and still does have so much potential to be more and that's the thing with most of the other live service games the "destiny killers" just don't have that feel to them. If you play them at least in my personal experience I don't get the feel that it could be more that it could go the distance. So many other live services just come out with something wrong just right at the base of the game the very core that the game is built on is bad and if the foundation your building on is bad then the result is everything else will crumble as well. Destiny is the opposite it's foundation is solid as hell it's always back and forth with what Bungie tries to build on its foundation that fails and sometimes it lands. Fingers crossed that final shape is going to be the expansion we hope it can be.
The problem with D2 is its a money grubbing cash cow. Its very much pay to play but you get what you pay for and thats the trade. Throw cash at the company and theyl show you where it went. If you get the big daddy yearly expansion for 100 your set til the next one, compared to some MMOs 100 a year isnt too bad if you can afford it. I started when it went free for PS like 5 years ago and stuck with it. Now im big excite for Final Shape. These last 8 weeks they been on a roll what with Into the Light, The Pantheon, whisper, zero hour, and in game fireteam finder. Hopefully the road to project payback stays clean.
I really enjoy playing this game solo. However, the community is like a clique and is very difficult to find good, helpful people when you are fairly new to content.
Personally I enjoyed Destiny 1 a lot more than I did destiny 2. Granted I played D1 all the way until D2 came out, and only played D2 early but still I was let down… I did throw down in the og trials tho 👀
Guardians make our own fate and so does Destiny and the community are their issues with the game for sure plenty and the time it takes to fix is nuts at times. But destiny is an experience unlike any other for most and this dlc will be the end for many. The old sucken cost fallacy or wishing to see such a journey to an end I’ve been playing this since the end of high school for me. 10 year journey for most of us; for good and bad this is our last huzzah maybe so we are a resilient bunch.
Because the original creators made a decent gameplay sandbox. The current workers are just barely keeping the loop alive and sustainable with microtransactions and predatory practices
The game is like someone's bad relationship. It's bad in some areas, it's good in some other areas and the good outweighs the bad eventhough the bad is more sound than the good. You wanna leave... but somehow you can't. That is Destiny in a nutshell. I applaud people who did leave for good though.
I'll never take seriously someone who still uses double primary Jokes aside, Destiny has truly held its ground and with The Final Shape, Bungie is coming in VERY hot to close the saga ❤
All I hear and have ever heard is complain, complain complain ; I hate this game, this game is dead, theyre robhing us. Yall full of shit! Destiny still exists because its a great game. As a writer, the story is a journey, it always has been ;not a one off that gives you everything in one sitting. This damn micrwave generation has to have it all at once. Bungies biggest err wws trying to please the factions of toxic fanbase. It kept driving them in ridiculous directions. This entire video is a side swipe at the games success. I always say most of you dont deserve a great game...go find the game youre looking for if this one is so bad.
Same reason why WoW is still around . Sunk cost fallacy. People spent too much money on it and feel invested that they cannot give up now even though game is more predatory and bad in lot of aspects
To me it's simple, the core gameplay feels good to play. That's literally it. It is a certain something about the way the guns fire, sound design and all, the way movement works, abilities, etc... and just overall "feel" of the experience.. makes it really fun to play. I agree that the systems around it are absolute dogshit, and if you've been playing since vanilla D1 like I have, you just know most of the complaints do not target the "feel" of the game, but rather the systems around it, be it reward structure, activities, etc etc...
All games rise and fall destiny has brought people back over and over, look at helldivers game was amazing for 1 month now it’s pretty much dead, Diablo 4 was awesome for 2 weeks then dead destiny is now back to a solid player base
Only reason I still play is because I’ve played since vanilla d1 when it came out when I was 12 and I want to see the end of the light vs dark saga idk if I’ll play destiny after this saga but we’ll see ig
the soul reason why destiny is still alive is the devs arent afraid to stray from their vision of the game if the player feedback is negative. from d1 day 1 we have told bungie whats wrong with the game and how they could fix it and they honestly have done a pretty good job about hearing out the player base even if they try and force us into new things that sometimes flop.
Based, it has it's problems I'll admit but there's so much other good to the gameplay and experience. It's very unique and nothing yet has gotten close to it.
The craziest part is it still has so much untapped potential, the final shape with the new pismatic subclass we are just now seeing some of the craziness that is possible
FOMO for some part. I still play it casually, I loved the IP, but I despise the direction they have taken with Lightfall, by that I mean the "Guardians of the galaxy" canned lightheartedness, at the polar opposite of the solemnity that was the IP's signature. Hope they'll get some grip for the 10 years finale.
Lightfall was definitely rushed because they intended for one more dlc then changed to 2. TFS already seems much more serious in tone all around just by the trailers and vidocs.
I have quit for 4 years now and just recently decided to return due to the free content which allows you to see what all the dlcs are about. Well..not even 2 hours playing I have already decided to come back and have pre ordered the new upcoming dlc along with purchasing all the previous ones (of course at a massive discount price) Looks like Im back for awhile as I have a lot of content to dip my toes in. Also a huge fan of Destiny's raids, so that's going to be exciting to get back into.
@Roadkillwastaken I agree with you. I didn't quit due to hating it. I quit because I liked the game too much and as a lot of destiny players can relate. My wife didn't 😆
Gonna answer before watching the video: The game is fun, very fun. You can sink in thousands of hours and be far from done with the game. Yeah, getting into it is a bit pricey, but I think 100 bucks for over a thousand hours of gaming is a good tradeoff, and whoever says the opposite, is wrong.
Because even with all of its bad parts, its still better than 90% of games coming out today.

it might just be me, but this sounds like it was written or spoken by an AI, some lines just abruptly end or end in weird incoherent ways, for example: 8:46 just sounds artificial
I’ll be sad to see it go when it really starts dying, whenever that might be
I started playing it ever since it came to steam as F2P, and i have been playing ever since, the thing that keeps me coming back even after lile a month of a break is It's potential, we saw it with forsaken and witch queen
the most phoned in Destiny critique ive ever seen.
Not just still alive, it is thriving.
If you have to ask urself how destiny 2 is still alive that’s how you know they doing something right cuz it’s the best fuckin game
Man it’s simple. Forsaken-Witch Queen ,Taken King Season Of Opulence, Season of the Forge are the main reasons this game is alive.
We can easily ask the same of this channel
Whole video is just bashing on Destiny. I like it cause in the end, Destiny is still somehow alive and with Final Shape just on the horizon, a lot of guardians and kinderguardians are playing and grinding for final loot and bounties. Prepping for the release.
Been playing since November 2014 quit and came back that many times no game can get me hooked so quickly even though I've played it that much
People should stop playing the game if they dont like it...and then leave the rest of us who does alone.
I just started playing again about a year ago after not playing since launch, and its the best all around game out rn imo🤙
What's the point of doing a video like this on a game you clearly don't like? It just feels like you're throwing shade at the fans for playing something they like and that's frankly just sad
I haven’t fully watched but I’m starting to feel that way
I wonder the same about a youtube channel with 1million subs, that gets like 10k views on average.
Comments section didn’t go like you thought it would did it? Destiny 2 is an amazing game, sorry you can’t handle that.
The title of this should be “The history of the destiny franchise”
I started at alpha but I stopped playing after forsaken, I just had too many games begging for money at the time . I still follow it but I haven't played in a few years.
Because for 10 years, there hasn't been a single PvE shooter that has came even remotely close to how good Destiny feels to play. Not 1.
I've been playing since 2014, I stop playing for some time now, defending democracy, but now I'm back for the Final Shape, don't know, there's something in this game that always makes me come back.
I just have that destint 1 loyalty no matter how bad they shit on my warlock
One of the best games ever made. While it has extreme ups and downs, it has remained extremely fun, challenging, rewarding, frustrating, and engaging. There is still unreal potential for where it could go but I wish they weren’t afraid of the game size. COD is massive and doesn’t stop anybody from prioritizing it on their SSD. If Bungie put more effort into creative live events and activities, it could just be the absolute best game of all time. The D2 community has so many amazing ideas of where it could go but I agree that they end up recycling too much and sticking to formulas.
When there is no single player games out that interest me, i jump between warframe and destiny 2, they are fun and you can sink alot of time into them
Because bungie knows how to make and manage a game, love em or hate them, can't deny that
Its funny because destiny bounces back and forth on that line of how well a live service can be and how bad it can be.
The gameplay has always been solid i just fell off because of the greed, but now that i got all the dlc free its a great game!
We still play destiny because there’s a story.
Who Said That D2 Was Dead LOL??? Honestly The Shit That TH-camrs Make Vids About Just To Get A Few Likes And Subscription Is A Joke LOL
Stop lying it was dead after lightfall they just recently started peaking again
For me destiny has best mission desingn for any live service game. Strikes, dungeons and missions arr so fun to play
I really enjoy playing this game solo. However, the community is like a clique and is very difficult to find good, helpful people when you are fairly new to content.
How many bullshit dlc do they have for this game it's been out for ever and they still have a player base even more impressive.
😂😂😂
you say its been out forever, but have you ever heard of world of warcraft?
@@lbozo9580 the difference between WOW is their dlc was mostly a hole new game.
because the gameplay loop is still strong
@@kingjohn1011 but they also have a subscription service and a very different game play loop
Because it has the best FPS gameplay. Way better than even CoD.
For me the lore is what keeps me coming back to play destiny.
I'll never take seriously someone who still uses double primary
Jokes aside, Destiny has truly held its ground and with The Final Shape, Bungie is coming in VERY hot to close the saga ❤
We’ve been beaten to submission and have Stockholm syndrome
James 1:21
21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you
Because the game is genuinely good maybe.
Bungie cares about the game if they didn't they wouldn't try to modify it in any way
have you even played destiny?
Same reason why WoW is still around . Sunk cost fallacy. People spent too much money on it and feel invested that they cannot give up now even though game is more predatory and bad in lot of aspects
Seriously, because its an amazing game.
PvP made this game alive
All things considered, it probably is the best live service out there next to Warframe. Its repetitive, but the community is really keeps it going.
The Light is strong with Destiny!! But the darkness that is Live Service, Games as a Service needs to be EXPUNGED from all existence!!
End of saga is end of the game. When GTA 6 will be released everyone will forget about Destiny 2
@@rogueagent2477
No.
@rogueagent2477 not by a long shot, plus that is a full year away so we won't know what will happen
the soul reason why destiny is still alive is the devs arent afraid to stray from their vision of the game if the player feedback is negative. from d1 day 1 we have told bungie whats wrong with the game and how they could fix it and they honestly have done a pretty good job about hearing out the player base even if they try and force us into new things that sometimes flop.
because its a fantastic and unique game unlike anything i have ever played. And i am bored of people arguing against it.
Destiny 3 should have happened 4 years ago.
D2 is totally outdated in graphics
Because it has some of the best gunplay in the history of gaming
There is nothing else much like it and even with it's flaws it is still good.
Destiny is like the best toxic relationship…
I have quit for 4 years now and just recently decided to return due to the free content which allows you to see what all the dlcs are about. Well..not even 2 hours playing I have already decided to come back and have pre ordered the new upcoming dlc along with purchasing all the previous ones (of course at a massive discount price) Looks like Im back for awhile as I have a lot of content to dip my toes in.
Also a huge fan of Destiny's raids, so that's going to be exciting to get back into.
My condolences, you managed to get free, but they sank their claws into you and pulled you back in...
@StingBear well I've been playing Tarkov and out of the two Cancers. I think Destiny is a bit better lol
Welcome back ppl hate for no reason lmao its a fun game
@@Roadkillwastaken there's plenty of reason
@Roadkillwastaken I agree with you. I didn't quit due to hating it. I quit because I liked the game too much and as a lot of destiny players can relate. My wife didn't 😆
Monetization is absolute ass and the dlc price is really crazy, but my god, the gameplay, loot chase, raids, memes, is what keeps me coming back.
Gonna answer before watching the video:
The game is fun, very fun. You can sink in thousands of hours and be far from done with the game. Yeah, getting into it is a bit pricey, but I think 100 bucks for over a thousand hours of gaming is a good tradeoff, and whoever says the opposite, is wrong.
Because its literally the best game ever on the market. It had 100K people playing on steam last weekend. its amazing and has endless replayability
😂😂😂😂
Good one lmao
