Enhanced and better graphics does NOT equal less cartoony. Just look at the witness. D2 has a more marvel/superhero aesthetic with flashy, over the top designs EVERYWHERE. In d1, flashy designs stood out because they were rare and from specific sources. In D2 everything glows, the witness is built like megamind, and the intro custscene for excision is a literal marvel “every super guy is here omg!!!!!!!”
@epicfortnitekid8536 yeah? After ten years of build up of course everyone was going to be there? What kind of point are you making there lol. Also, The Witness's post campaign design is insane. If you're still using the cartoony complaint post excision that's you being ignorant to the art.
@@epicfortnitekid8536 L take.. D1 and d2 looks the same basically lol, just d2 has somewhat crisper graphics. And with the shiny stuff, d1 had more of it and a lot more over the top armor. Literally one of the complaints d2 gets for not having it like destiny 1. And I'm talking graphics wise, idk why you brought up story into this or why you're getting triggered haha.
Thanks for that video! It's so nice to realize that so many others feel the same about Destiny. I was 30 when it launched and even though we had a fragmented story and difficult rank systems the game got me hooked. The atmosphere, the gritty looks (almost everybody says this!), the unique soundtrack that underlined the mysteries we faced and the imaginations of the darkness that once brought the collapse... Oh my God, the nostalgia always hits me hard! Destiny 2 never managed to transfer that feeling... But nonethelese I still play D2. I recently replayed D1's whole campaigns. It was awesome. A friend and I even finally rang the bells in the Iron Temple for the last trophy. PSN Profiles now says: completed in 10 yrs 3 weeks 😄 I wish Bungie would bring back all of the missing stuff or even better: there was an update for better performance and all the control and FoV settings we have in D2. Of course this is not gonna happen. Again thanks for that video, it's good to see we all look back to those glorious days. Back then we had no idea how much we would miss them!
30 years old now and as a long time halo fan, die hard bungie enthusiast i was beyond hyped for this game and could actually enjoy the full content with the raids as i had online friends at the time. i played so many hours and made such deep memories in the world of destiny that when i joined the party late for D2 it was a strange mix of nostalgia and dejavu. im coming back to D2 this year and having a great time. Also the new updates coming with more support for solo players and matchmaking is giving me hope for the raid content i havent been able to enjoy yet in D2.
I too started playing destiny at 13 and I am now 23, it was the only reason my family got wifi, and from that point on my life was never the same, I met a lot of people on destiny from all over the world and 13 year old me could not wrap he’s head around it. I love destiny 1 especially the early when it came out. so many good memories and friends I’ve made with this game and I’ll always cherish my time I had with it.
They did that because back in the day you could decrypt a. exotic engram and get a blue but you couldn’t get a exotic from a blue they then kinda switched them around where exotics would always give you an exotic and legendary and blue engrams could give you a change for an exotic or a tier above their rarity like getting a legendary from a blue
There's an unmatched ambience to D1, particularly in orbit. D2 has this huge catalogue of music but a lot of it doesn't seem to have been considered for its impact on those floating in space (it probably has, but it serves a different purpose). D1 is aspirational, light, ethereal - D2 is dark, foreboding, but inconsistent as it samples from 6+ worth of expansions seemingly at random. Even the graphical changes of D1, with what seemed like bigger sprites, sells a different experience.
My favorite tower design was the Christmas festival - the last sparrow racing league in 2016 was truly a special time in destiny I made so many friends, they made the trials map the moon map that allows you to pull out your sparrow. RIP
The thing I love about Destiny 1 is that to this day it still has every dlc and the entirety of it's campaign intact and playable. You can't say the same about Destiny 2
sometimes i miss destiny 1 how fun it was some simple things being unique and others being hard to find and do like an actual rpg everything feels so amped up and watered down at the same time in d2
I remember when I found this game, I didnt have any money so I was constantly playing the free trial for hours until one day i begged my mom and she told me "dont tell your dad but if this makes you happy ill do it". Ive probably put thousands of hours into this game.
It was easier to keep your vault clean in D1 even with 1/7 of space. There's just so many variations in D2 with weapons and armor. Most times it's not even that you want to keep it, you are just afraid to get rid of it! In D1 you knew what was worthy of keeping.

I played both Destiny 1 at launch and don’t feel nostalgia for it, but I’m glad there are people like you who are passionate. Reminds me how I feel about Halo.
Also something I noticed no one talks about is how clean and organized the collections/menu pages are, now it’s a bunch of reissues, like 7 different hung jury’s, guns you can’t get anymore, really wish bungie would clean up the UI or menu items page or collections page
Im kind of partial on the health bar argument, honestly for bosses that are phased (immunity gated specifically) i believe the bar being at the bottom is VERY useful and nice. For bosses with timed health phases and a lower health pool however, i think the bar above the head is perfect. I kind of feel like they should be classed as different ranks of bosses so that they can both exist simultaneously.

It holds so much weight. Unfortunately the week xur had sold gjallorhorn for the second time, I was off by a few strange coins. Then my dad got home early and I was in trouble and got grounded for being up early so I missed it. Sucked hard for life. I was always behind after house of wolves because I didn’t have money for it. Finally I got some and bought rise if iron and taken king. Same feeling as 2015 battlefront man. It was just a magical time for me as a gamer. That PvP part was hilarious lol. Just takes a game or so to get used to. I went back recently and dominated. Warlock was def the best class for PvP in D1 towards the end.
I made the impulse decision to buy destiny 1 last night and I was so pleasantly surprised to find a full tower of people. So excited to experience this game again :)
the thing is. Destiny 1 had art direction. It also severely benefitted from not being PBR, and thus having some of that halo reach looking slightly stylized look to everything. But the scale, and assets, and environments, and colours... It was all science Fantasy, it was ment to invoke that epic grand larger than life feeling. The cosmodrome is a great example. Or when you load into the tower, it feels like a castle, the colours, the materials, the insignia on the floor you spawn on. Destiny 1 also had that hand made feeling to it. Especially the skyboxes where it was a mix of overlayering mattepaintings, cloud cards, and some volumetrics. D2 is just a confused mushy thing of new technology, and what feels like 5 art directors doing their thing.
It’s amazing how pretty destiny 1 was and I was able to play 6v6 perfect on a mobile hotspot but destiny 2 they will straight up lock u out of even strikes if u try to use mobile hotspots outside 5g or super fast speeds

The intro gets me crying I’m the same age as you played the moment it came out the nostalgia is amazing
PSN Profiles now says: completed in 10 yrs 3 weeks 😄
I wish Bungie would bring back all of the missing stuff or even better: there was an update for better performance and all the control and FoV settings we have in D2.
I play it constantly. I do bounties, strikes, nightfalls, pvp… Love it.
This is sooooo accurate and true and nostalgic...I wish we could go back
I too started playing destiny at 13 and I am now 23, it was the only reason my family got wifi, and from that point on my life was never the same, I met a lot of people on destiny from all over the world and 13 year old me could not wrap he’s head around it. I love destiny 1 especially the early when it came out. so many good memories and friends I’ve made with this game and I’ll always cherish my time I had with it.
I’ve also gotten exotics from blue heavy engrams on MULTIPLE occasions. I think I got super good advice twice. Something was up with those blue heavys
They did that because back in the day you could decrypt a. exotic engram and get a blue but you couldn’t get a exotic from a blue
they then kinda switched them around where exotics would always give you an exotic and legendary and blue engrams could give you a change for an exotic or a tier above their rarity like getting a legendary from a blue
ahh the memories...thanks for this...love seeing the Invective again! Awesome shotty. So the glaring question...where's the Icebreaker??? 😁
Good question! More destiny 1 videos will come
There's an unmatched ambience to D1, particularly in orbit.
This game touch me in the deepest side of me....Thank you for everything DESTINY
As someone who still plays and is part of the D1 community it is always fun to see various people come back to revisit!
sometimes i miss destiny 1 how fun it was some simple things being unique and others being hard to find and do like an actual rpg
everything feels so amped up and watered down at the same time in d2
I remember when I found this game, I didnt have any money so I was constantly playing the free trial for hours until one day i begged my mom and she told me "dont tell your dad but if this makes you happy ill do it". Ive probably put thousands of hours into this game.
It was easier to keep your vault clean in D1 even with 1/7 of space. There's just so many variations in D2 with weapons and armor. Most times it's not even that you want to keep it, you are just afraid to get rid of it! In D1 you knew what was worthy of keeping.
@@ChuckTownRC51 I felt like every item had its purposes, I deleted basically everything knew I wasnt going to use, oh to be 15 and not care about predicting metas again
Things i miss from destiny
1. The first Ghost voice of Peter Dinklage
2. The Speaker.
3.To me the Destiny beta was magical.
4. Ice breaker
5.The first ghallahorn
6. Prision of elders sounds and game play
I was born in 99. I'm right there with you bro. Unfortunately I was only able to play destiny 1 for about 2 years. And Destiny 2 for a little over 1 year. But even with that little time. I've put nearly 1800 hours into the Destiny franchise. I will never forget the times I've had in Destiny. If anyone cares, my most recent video is a throwback to my memories in Destiny 1 and 2.
I just miss the mysterious feeling destiny 1 had. Also the music…. The music just doesn’t hit the same in d2
@@mattj500 can’t ever get that feeling back, the mystery was. A big selling point in 2014
So much memories I’m so happy they bringing back the ice breaker
Ice breaker is coming back next season as the dungeon exotic
@@paragon5186 yeah I know
I played both Destiny 1 at launch and don’t feel nostalgia for it, but I’m glad there are people like you who are passionate. Reminds me how I feel about Halo.
Man that destiny 1 intro is so nostalgic… I’m there with some cod intros and startups
Destiny 1 feels like home
started this game when I was 7 now I’m 17. Good times, I will never regret the thousands of hours I spent making good memories on that game. It’s crazy that this franchise has been on my mind for 10 whole years like I literally grew up with it, even if I’m 2017-2019 I didn’t rly play it, it was still in the back of my mind
Don’t be sad that it’s over, be happy that it happened
I was 13 when I started playing destiny just sitting in all day everyday on the weekends and school holidays to play this game, I’m now 23 with my own child and house life is crazy
Nice nostalgia. I really want Zen Meteor to come back but I think it’s a wrap for that. 😞 Oh and the blue scout called Stalker-BNGL.
destiny day 1 player here. & i can relate. been playing destiny since the first one came out. & it's crazy how it's been 10 years. it was a hell of a run. 💪
This was needed.thank you
No problem brother
Started playing when i was 11 im 21 turning 22 now with a good job, time flies for real
I was like, huh the FOV doesn't seem that bad. Then you went into the crucible, and I was like, oh right tower is in third person view, yeah this seems right, it was like playing with horse blinders
@@colossalsqvid4587 it’s really bad lmao

Man. Y’all crazy.
I’m sticking with games that respect my time.
Then again slot machine gamblers are gonna be stuck pulling that silly lever and gambling.
Good luck.
@@EchoDoctrineidk what you're talking about, but Bungie loooong since said at some point they're unplugging D1 servers. This bs won't exist past 2027 mark my words. I'm sick of you ungrateful D1 glazers.
@@DioStandProud guy in video was saying he wants really really rare items like D1 had and a super long Grindy grind to get them. That’s what I was laughing at.
Man is right. Bring back Supercell. Way better than Riskrunner. I miss it.
I remember destroying every iron banner I believe the exotic fusion was plan c. I started d1 about 2 months after it launched and I’ll never forget it because I started that game 3 months before my daughter was born and I’m playing d2 to this day and it’s one of those very few games I’ll never forget. The other games that I’ll never forget is StarCraft brood war which was the first online game I played and I played it all through middle school on dial up
I was never a FPS guy even during the times Halo and Call of Duty was all the craze,
everything changed when I got my ps4 that came with Destiny1, linked up playing PVE with coworkers that gave me more insights on how the game works, later advance to PVP with my Titan, and Sur always gets me hyped for some dope items. It was the best experience ever. Hrs of gaming, then life happened. Fast forward later I recently got back into Destiny, and bought D2.. I’m so fuckin lost now lol
I started playing at 15 a couple of months before house of wolves was launched, now I’m 24, such times man…
Chaos Dogma is such a cool looking weapon as well as a very iconic one from Wrath of the Machine... If Bungie brought it back with all of the old returning weapons I would never take it off
Top 400 in D2 rumble and I still play low reticle default lol
Great stuff
Main track on logo screen is amazing..
One day I will play it and enjoy it as I couldn't do it in 2014
The intro music is just the biggest peak of nostalgia ever
Started playing when I was justwas 12. Would get up early on the weekdays while my dad was working 3rd just to play this game.
I still have a picture of all my classes from 2014.
Since 2015-2016 gaming just hasn’t been the same and quite often feels like a burden on my life. I like to do it still, but it just doesn’t feel as meaningful or magical if that makes sense
Destiny 1 ended with such a turnaround of fortune and hope for the future of the franchise.
Destiny 1 is still the only game I've put more than 1000 hours in. Even with it's flaws, it will forever be my favorite game of all time.
@@calltheambalamm it might be my number 2 or 3 favorite game of all time
I found my D1 disk still in my old Xbox 1x and fired it up immediately…. So nostalgic. Perhaps I’ll see you out there
Replayed the whole thing last week. From vanilla to RoI. And all ive got to say is.
Im so grateful for D2. Its so much better than the original in every conceivable way.
The D2 Great Vaulting still baffles me to this day. Heck, ghe removal of SRL from D1 was brutal too.
This games means so much to me I always seem to come back to it…
I begged my parents to buy me a console just so I could play this game, I put it down for a while and came back to D2 two years ago, really an incredible thing they've made here. I hope wherever the next game goes that it captures some more of that magic and mystery that D1 had - I know they can do it.
I too still get called back to D1 semi-regularly. Lots of new light freinds of friends from gen 3 are still coming in, and gen 4. The Dragonsbreath tiger reskin is pretty cool.
I miss the destiny 1 music the nostalgia is just there…good ole days
What I miss is the fact that D1 feels much creepier and grim. Its not to much light and brightness, less intense colours. I like that more
The launch week of D1 is the best time I have ever had playing a video game. Period. Nothing comes close.
I swear, that music makes me want to tear up every single time I hear it.
10 fucking years
Man time flies. Feels like yesterday.
This the 4th video Ive watched that is about remembering D1. Wonder whats compelling some to make these videos. Not that theres anything wrong with it. I still play D1. I still have all Iron Banner, Trials and SRL bounties unclaimed. Good times.
D1 Tower was a lovely Hub.
Hope it come back one day
destiny 1 has the best gaming skyboxes of all time in my opinion. especially the cosmodrome at night, and Venus.
108 items in the vault. I can't even imagine.
Unique weapons crucble weapons is what i miss so much, those iron banner weapons need to be brought back so badly
That PvP part was hilarious lol. Just takes a game or so to get used to.
I went back recently and dominated.
Warlock was def the best class for PvP in D1 towards the end.
This was so nostalgic! No cap D1 was the most played game in my life 😂
I made the impulse decision to buy destiny 1 last night and I was so pleasantly surprised to find a full tower of people. So excited to experience this game again :)
I just started a brand new playthrough, deleted one of my old characters and am playing everything from beginning to end
the thing is.
Such great memories! Never done Wrath...only raid missed
It’s amazing how pretty destiny 1 was and I was able to play 6v6 perfect on a mobile hotspot but destiny 2 they will straight up lock u out of even strikes if u try to use mobile hotspots outside 5g or super fast speeds
I miss the D1 days... after a long break I started playing again for the final DLC.
