  • Here is a lawnmower that I received from a fella that wouldn't run just right. It wouldn't run without being choked. My first thought was a carburetor issue. Turned out to be a fuel delivery issue due to a restriction in the pick up tube in the gas tank. Watch as I go over how to gain access and flush the tank. Hope the video helps someone. Enjoy!

Excellent video, but piss poor design on the gas tank. There should be a way to take the filler pipe out so you can easily clean out the tank. We blew out the gas line and it looked like milk came flying out of it.

Thanks! Absolutely, it is quite aggravating you have to do all of this in order to gain access to the pickup tube.

Thanks for the video, I will be doing this today with my L110. I dont understand why JD would design these mowers this way???? It would've been much simpler to design a two piece body or atleast have some kind of bolt plate on the back of the frame to gain access to the tank and transmission!🤦‍♂️
DUMBASS ENGINEERING!!! I guess they did it so thier service tech's could get that $150 an hour! I'm having to do this because the rubber gas tank lid seal disintegrated and it is in a kajillion pieces!

I have a L110 also. The pick up tube is disintegrating and clogs the fuel line. There's no way to access the pick up tube and change it out because I think it was inserted when they put the two halves of the tank together. The top of the pick up tube has no grommet and is part of the tank itself. I'll have to get the new tank.

I have the exact same problem on my L120... rubber gas tank lid seal fell apart in little pieces in the gas tank. Ugh! I bought a replacement gas cap from Home Depot and I'm wondering if it is going to have the same problem. This video was helpful by showing me what I have ahead of me. I can do it no problem but it's going to be a pain in the arse!!

This was very helpful to help me get my gastank removed and flushed out and replaced. Now I can't get the center part to fit back on correctly. None of the top 5 holes and screws will fit back correctly. I had to remove the steering wheel so I could lift the top piece over the back piece.

Hopefully you were able to get it lined back up. It did take some fumbling around to get everything all back together.

My LA145 had a similar problem, only I have the older style tank with the fuel pickup molded into the tank itself. The debris in the tank on mine was due to bad gasoline. It was a black tar like substance. The fuel line was also completely deteriorating and wouldn't flow fuel. I was able to unbolt the fender section and gently lift and support it enough to get to the fuel line connection at the tank. I used a cable like grab tool, as well as water and compressed air to dislodge and flush the tank. New fuel line installed, new filter in place, tractor is running great.
