  • Now we have developed the second saxillophone in this world. Good intonation, great and warm sound, playable almost like saxophone. April 2021

The sound is quite wonderful. It's not nasal or screechy like many soprano saxophones can be. It is in between the soprano and alto saxophone in terms of colour, but warm and sumptuous. Perhaps the thickness of the wood solves many issues that plague soprano saxophones? The range of two chromatic scales is pretty remarkable. Does the choice of wood influence sound characteristics? Which mouthpiece is used - for the clarinet? for the soprano sax?

Thanks for your nice comment! The mouthpiece is a cut clarinet mouthpiece and I think the olive wood has an influence on the beautiful sound.

Where could someone get one of these?

couldn't you have the f sharp tone hole a open tone hole and add a ring key over the e and f tone holes which closes the f sharp key which means that the f sharp would have the exact same fingering as a normal saxophone wile having the f and e also fingered the same

Hi Thaddeus, the idea is good but when I try this the F# sounds very silently and dull. As a result, the tone hole becomes too small and lets too little sound through. The F# on the side sounds nice and open and is also pretty easy to play. The saxophone has two large tone holes for F and F#. There is still a lot to explore.

@@saxillomusic2240 ah sad to see it does not work that well but i would rather have a slightly different fingering for a better sound of a note

Yes, I would like to develop further and then, if it is really perfect, have several instruments made. But at the moment everything is still done by hand and is too expensive. Please just follow me on this channel. When the time comes, you will find out here.

I think the the backing track doesn't do the instrument justice.

Thank you for your comment, but did you listen for more than 2 minutes? There are many more examples to come :))
