Why get mad at other players when you can get mad at the NPCs instead

Same dude. I've been saying competitive esports has done irreparable damage to having fun in pvp games. It's like when the game comes out im having fun playing the characters I like and then the game establishes esports, the game gets sweaty, then all my fav characters get nerfed, all the characters i hate get buffed or barely touched and then I never play again. An endless cycle.

I think it's okay for people to play competitive games, then learn they're not really a competitive person.
So many people are obsessed with either enjoying comp, or absolutely hating it/raging/stopplaying when they rage instantly.
Its okay to just not be competitive to the bone, wanting to "Win" isnt being naturally competitive, or enjoying it. Its just a
    fantasy of winning/being above others.
Being competitive is about taking L's, W's, improving, practicing, its more than just que up. But most players esepecially in lower ELO, never do any of these things.
Having played alot of sports as a kid, Basketball, Soccer, Muay Thai Later, these are concepts taught and instilled.
When i played soccer, and our team lost guess what? We're going to practice the next day, ,we dont do well in practice? WE practice more, it was about this, learning along the way.
    Enjoying the journey of improvement.
    There where always a few kids with very similar symptoms like you described, "Oh i lost, but i dont feel angry i just feel apathy" in reality, this is just disassociating from the loss;
Or even, rather than confronting it. And my fighting coach all the time when i'd take a jab, would mention you need to realize and focus on these L's regardless.
Instantly using dissociation leads to no improvement/gain, since we cant confront what happened. Or have the willpower to focus and apply yourself. instead you just become a boring void.
Which is of course, the easy way out. Where as competitive people will strain more, focus more, practice more in retaliation.
Sports are games, just like videogames, and having competed in alot of competitive games and sports, trust me theyre extremely similar in this philosophy. Its just that online
gamers arnt taught these concepts often because well, they don't have coaches like you would in a school, or afterschool rec.
Rarely in games do i see people after taking a big lose streak, or losing and raging, do they say "Okay, ima go practice my aim, invite my buddy or join a skirmish group so i can improve."
isntead they just logoff, lack improving, then repeat this the next time they que.
Its what creates the feeling of apathy in my opinion, most players are in a loop infinitely. I see it in WoW pvp, Overwatch, even Marvels right now, For Honor too.
The summary is, just do what you like, and accept maybe you're not competitive innately or dont want to be. I dont think it has anything to do with the game itself
being competitive. But the user not being competitive, or easily persuaded.
Im curious on your thoughts on this post if you did end up reading it.

@@Askleidas i get what you mean. It's mainly me just wanting to have fun in a pvp game but I feel like unless I'm dedicating everything I have to it I won't enjoy myself and kills my motivation to keep playing. Nowadays everyone wants to play pvp games like they're in an esport so unless you're grinding 27 hours a day you'll get left in the dust and I have better things to do with my time than make a second career out of a video game

great response, i get how you feel it feels lik eu have to invest too much time. BUT!
Id agree with you, but 27 hours just isnt required when time is used efficently, just like sports. You dont just play sports 27 hours a day. You just got in to practice for 1-2 hours 3-5 days a week, then depending if you're in a tournament/season for a few weeks in a year train harder for the event, then go back to lower involvement.
Samething with gaming. The more you practice, less you need to. Alot of it becomes baseline muscle memory. And you can just que up.
its just that alot of players today, ill use WOW players as an example, will play the game for 10 years straight, and not improve past novice level. They actually dont try and have the mentality of "Time invested = me good" When infact, you can be a trash chef, doing things wrong for a decade, but think youre good because "I did it for 10 yrs"
      its more about application.
I only play WoW 2-4 hours a day, yet i get rank 1 every season, or GM In OW seas 2-8 before i quit, or right now i just started playing Marvels 3 days ago, and im Platinum 2 , even though im playing a genji-like character vs my old main mcree hitscan. Completely different, i just use this logic and i improve quick, i lookup good players, keep my head cool, ect.
You might find enjoyment if you try these course, i find myself having fun sometimes even when i lose, because ill perform well, and know i did good despite the loss.

There, my like and subscribe. It's so refreshing every time I find a content creator that's not trying to cheese the F out of a game, or grind the higher ranks... just play, chill, have fun. I do think streaming did contribute a lot to the situation, everyone has their own "TTV" with 2 viewers and they play like it was a world tournament. Team-based games are ruined because they only try to get good clips. Or even the new PoE2 early access, which is a single player game, ends up being this STUPID race to be the first one that destroys all balance and the rest of us need to either put 30hs a day into the game like they do, or be perpetually behind and receive nerfs or "balance" updates because you happened to use a similar build. "100 things I wish I knew before I played [Game that is not even released yet]". Jeez... I miss the days when you could figure out a game with your friends and shared tips and learned the game together. Now it's day 1 meta or die

I know this feeling, I used to be good at pvp games like COD or Titanfall or For Honor, wasted hundreds, even thousands hours on them. Nowadays I only play pve or single player games. At some point in life you're just not willing to get your ass wooped by some random dudes, and all you want is to relax and actually enjoy your gaming experience.

Felt this, I simply just grew out of competitive games after being so good at them at such a young age. Single player/co-pp experiences with my friends are simply just more enjoyable, but too bad all my friends are tards who just chase dopamine in Overwatch and marvel rivals despite getting so mad at them

I stopped playing Rainbow Six about 5 years ago. The problem is that video games grasp your attention. Little rewards through a scummy Battle pass. Useless acheivements. Bragging rights that you're a god in a game that ultimatley doesn't make you happy.
Gotta play to be with the homies. And some games elevate more teamwork and now I only stick to games like Helldivers 2, Darktide, Rock and stone, and I used to play vermintide.
Also I played a shitton of milsim games, Hell Let Loose, Arma, sometimes DayZ, those games are pretty humbling. Because no matter what, you can't win the war alone.

    Honestly, same
I just don't usually have the energy to play anything PvP competitive the brief highs were punctuated with a horrific drought as I consistently got my ass handed to me by people who were just better than I was or because I wasn't willing to adopt a tactic I thought was cheap and kind of a dick move, I dropped For Honor because I reached critical mass and couldn't keep up with anyone else, same with R6S, Halo, Destiny and Destiny 2, Apex, or League of Legends.
PvP just doesn't hit the same for me anymore, I can usually only play games casually against my friends and feel content with the outcomes, but when it comes to the rest of the world at large, I just don't wanna outcompete a bunch of sweats.
Dead by Daylight is the only one where I genuinely feel like I'll do fine seemingly regardless of rank, as my favorite killers are Pyramid Head and Wesker, both of who are strong by nature of the game's design. I've made it to Iridescent grade multiple times as PH and Wesker, and I love them both quite dearly (and have found cancerous builds for them that I am more than content to use shamelessly)

If you have no achievements in life then you want to achieve something in game. Multiplayer means you do that with the audience of other people, mostly those you defeat.
