So this is your first K-Drama! Congratulations 🙂. The lead male won Best Actor at the Golden Globes!!! Also on other award platforms. All the key actors and actresses in this series has won something, including the old man.
My fav fun fact ab the filming ep 1 is when my guy ran into the girl that pick pocketed him, the actor improvized the part when he was trying to put the straw and the actress was bent over laughing in that scene 😂 and they kept it in bc it was just too good

Its a historical drama but thats all ill say because i want you guys to go into it knowing nothing if you end up watching it. its very funny and will have you wanting more in my opinion. Segue: wondering if you'd seen or even reacted to the film "A Clockwork Orange" (Stanley Kubrick directed, came out in late '60s I think)...you'll immediately see how S.G. was influenced (visually & musically in particular) by the movie. ❤!

You two are so fun!! The conversion rate isn't great now, but an easy way to think of korean won (currency) is 1000 won = 1 USD. So 100,000 won = 100 dollars. In theory, now it's a lot less, but it's easy to think of it this way while reading subtitles quickly :)
I love that I've seen this show some times now and I still missed the part when the square said in ep2 as they brought out guns that they wouldn't let the contesters do anything to challenge the democratic process of them voting. They might have messed up games but they DO have rules and abey to them.
My husband and I JUST binge watched this show this weekend. We did watch the English dubbed version, and while the words were fine, the vocals didn’t always match the emotions accurately, and they had a young woman’s voice for the mother. We had no idea.what to expect. Can’t wait to see your reaction!
I played Red Light Green light, Simon Says and Red Rover when I was a kid. But, I am old as dirt and we didn't have video games, the internet or cells phones back then. lol As always, great reaction.
Basically, our main guy here is a good guy with a heart of gold. But when he was a great guy, life did him dirty. Now he's broken shell of his former self, often being selfish, albeit unintentionally. He really loves his mother and his daughter, but he's unable to be the man he used to be.
Damn, first Stranger Things and now Squid Games! Two shows with unique concepts and incredible writing. I highly recommend Ted Lasso next, another show with great writing!

I literally had a theory that Squid Games is in the Saw universe were the game master fellowed up on the Jigsaw murders in America and made there own version of games
This is certainly an interesting series that grabs you right away, but it got a bit slower (or maybe I was desensitized to everything) for me as it went on, and I just remember overall being interested in the show, but not enough to recommend it to others. if you're going for some more Halloween-type content I cannot recommend The Exorcist enough (the version released in 2000 with 12 extra important minutes that were cut from the original version, the book author/screenwriter for The Exorcist sued over it and it took 25 years for the real version to be released). I was pretty young when I watched it, so part of it may be nostalgia, but even on re-watches I don't believe I've seen a better/scarier movie than that. I'd definitely have to join your Patreon if you added this to your collection. Not that I don't already want to be a Patron, money has just been quite scarce these days so I've been trying to save as much as possible, and if I joined all the Patreon channels I'd like to I'd be paying at least $200/month which isn't quite in the scope of my budget unfortunately. Anyway, The Exorcist has got to be the best Halloween-time movie I can think of.
