it's interesting in the way that it clearly has one foot in the 3rd party boat of panelformer, but somehow manages to use faux parts and really unusual hiding of details behind unlikely spots that make the transformation quite imaginative and memorably weird. The bit with the truck cab turning inside out reminds me specifically of evasion Prime. if it looked just a little better around the torso i'd definitely prefer the way this functions over anything else, faux parts or not.
This is a very interesting toy. His robot proportions remind me somewhat of the fortnite model but less stylized. The engineering feels very unique toys with the efficient use of panels. The only engineering critique I have is that it would be better if the shins worked like tfp first edition or ss bb optimus to get a clean truck bed.
Yeah, very interesting toy indeed. Yo you nailed it with the Fortnite comparison! Almost wondering if that was their source material! Yeah, I know what you mean regarding familiarity. I wonder if this is truly their first rodeo or if this someone's sub-brand. Either way, not a bad way to make an entrance :)
I think if the chest was a little more bigger and wasn’t so flat and then the exhaust pipes in truck mode being more bigger, it would be perfect for me. I even like the bigger head even tho it’s not usual
Honestly, given the size of him and the fact he's being sold for a decent price, I could see some people loving this guy. Now, what i really want is for them to make a Scourge to go with him. BaiWei tried but there's only so much you can do if you're starting from a figure with an outdated design.
I remember that someone compare this figure with the yolopark amk series and it perfectly size with scourge For me, Probably gonna wait future nemesis/shattered glass repaint of this figure
It's for me in fact. I'm in sort of a strange place as far as my Transformers fandom goes. There are lots of things from the franchise that I really like (Beast Wars, Animated, IDW) but I also don't really consider it to be one of my major geek focuses. I have a few Optimus Primes and I like to pair them with fitting Megatrons. This one fits quite well with the Studio Series Concept Megatron for me at least. I think that the BumbleeBee Optimus design might be his best one ever and this does a solid job capturing it.
Yeah, I think it was really cool of this company to try to make their own ROTB Optimus toy, but it’s just not for me. It really feels oddly flat in robot mode, and has a transformation that looks unnecessary with all the inside out and faux parts it has. The studio series isn’t perfect but I do find it to have a straightforward logic to it.
Yea, the original ss102 already serves as a great base and we've seen that with ko figures like the baiwei one that fixes a lot of the issues. Its just a shame that they never fixed the shoulders
Thanks for covering this. While the proportions are off, I have the Baiwei KO of 102 and have been feeling that its abdomen wqs wierdly flat. Thia figure manages to be more unique and I think does more to be a satisfying toy than 102 despite being off proportionally.
Yeah, mine is up on my shelf. One of the few pre-orders I made this year, like, 1 of 2 maybe xD. And tbh... I don't... really... dig him. His aesthetic is incredible, and that sold me. But I think I learned my lesson. The elbows/arms suck, the wonky knee bend sucks, the spot behind the calf where the piece is supposed to click in, doesn't... so it sucks. Lol all he's good for so far is standing there. Menacingly. Dope review tho
If something is contradictory then you're not describing just one aspect. For example, a simple sentence structure has one subject and one verb but maybe the vocabulary or idea is very nuanced. You have to separate out what aspect is simple and which aspect is complex otherwise we have no idea what you're trying to say. Giving some areas lots of molded detail and some with less detail is a very important principle of design. It causes you to move your eye around a painting or sculpture. Imagine a painting that uses exactly one brush size vs one that uses three different sizes in deliberate places. If you appreciate good design it's worth learning about the Elements and Principles of Design so you can describe what you're seeing.
Im thinking its a heavily modified ss102 and they messes up on the proportions a bit, also if i may reccomend a addon/upgrade kit for ss32 prime that make hime more dotm and movie accurate with a new backpack piece i found it on aliexpress and its a new take on a nother creators 3d printed kit i could link it if you would be interested in taking a look
Call me crazy but I actually like the proportions. It screams toy to me lol. I would love it if the same company made an Optimus Primal
Looks like a nice figure for adults who actually likes playing with their figures, like me.
I already have this figure. I think he's awesome. Glad i purchased him 👍🏾💯
There's certainly a lot to like about him!
I feel he was made to scale specifically alongside concept art megatron
Oooohhhh I hadnt thought of that!
He looks to be about the size of PotPrime. Maybe for Prime collectors out there!
I was planning to get this but after see the transformation. Proportions.
I'm not sure anymore.
Great review 👏🏻
Yeah, I 100% agree. Transformation is fun. Presence is great. Just that some of the proportions are a bit hmmmmmm

if someone could make this fugue at masterpiece scale that would be ideal

Big plus for them to tidy up the truck mode bed
He looks great in robot mode with all the detail. Truck mode not so much.
we can say that it is better than the optimus from the studio series, as it is more similar to optimus from rotb.

Ordered and on the way, gorgeous bot mode.
Nice nice. I think there's a lot to like about him!

This can be a nice substitute of Studio Series 102 if you hate the truck mode of that one
This one is as close as we're going to get so far from rise of the beast prime
Is it me or did i hear you voice act Waspinator when you talked about the toy's little hand blaster?
Could the head of this one work on the SS102 or BAIWEI KO version?

The chezt is throwing me off and i can't tell why, this feels like the missing link between Transformers One Optimus and Bumblebee Movie Optimus
It is for me Eventually
