Amen!! I struggled with dressing modest. I had to ask myself why. When the revelation came, I had to accept the truth. I dressed hot for attention. It hurt when I started dressing modest, my husband's eyes started to wander. I still struggle now but I keep reminding myself God is the one who created me. And I'm his masterpiece.
You should dress modestly in public but keep your shape and dress sexy for your husband in nightwear’s etc You should look into how Muslim women do it If you are already married your first preoccupation has to be pleasing your husband and keeping your family together What kind of Christianity do your family follow? Catholic? Protestant?

About ur husband… Its not you, its his lust issue. He needs deliverance. Hot doesnt mean trashy. I dress modest and feel a lot more beautiful than when I was a model. I was in modeling industry for years. Now, I get a lot more respect and still comments I get is about my beauty, not sexual like it used to be. Modest is the most beautiful. And ur husband issues need to be dealt with because most likely he is watching porn or being unfaithful in other ways.
Your husband's eyes wandering is an issue in his own heart. Lust that needs to be dealt with. If he is doing that he is doing it no matter how you dress

Jesus said judge not according to the appearance but judge righteous judgement, and man looks on the outside while God looks on the heart. Your last point especially was appreciated: look beautiful, not hot, (God loves beauty!) with attention being drawn to a face that radiates Christ.
Also, modesty is something that flows from abiding in The Holy Spirit. 🕊️ Being modest in clothing should flow from being modest within. A daughter of the most high King so I'm going to dress accordingly. When people look at me I want them to see Jesus. When we were younger, my husband used to want me to dress “hot” so that he could show me off in front of his friends until I asked him, “You know how your friends are, how do you think that they’ll think of me when they see my dressed like this?” He said, “Nevermind, if you go around my friends, you have to look like you’re going to church.” I learned from Lana that I can look beautiful while dressing modestly, and it is important for a married woman to do so out of respect for her husband. One reason that I admire Lana is that she is a great role model for me, as a woman in my early 20s and wife. Her words are full of wisdom and she is a great example of a godly woman. I have felt the pressure at times to conform to the latest trends to look “hot” instead of realizing that God made me as I am for a purpose, and I don’t need to change my outward appearance. I used to dress out of insecurity and wore super super long skirts, and wore exceedingly oversized that drowned me out because of shame of how I looked. Now the Lord has delivered me and I now see myself the way He sees me and love trying different styles, colours and still keep it modest and beautiful. It's definitely not about legalism at all! Thank you for this, Lana. I'm Nigerian, and what you said about opening our chest is not really acceptable. Many worldly things have crept into the church, and over time, are being overlooked. One of the reasons is because pastors or spiritual leaders don't want people to be offended and then leave church. I remember when I was growing up, a greater percentage of churches were so stern about dressing, and no one dared to challenge it.
Well delivered sister Lana. When one dresses appropriate, one attracts the right people, while inappropriate dressing is not only indecent,but it attracts the wrong folks. Recently I was on public transport I was the only woman on the bus . I was dresses modestly . The rest of the bus consisted of young men that had been to the local sports centre . They had been playing sports because they had sports clothes still on and carried water bottles ect . From the window of the bus a woman could be seen walking a dog . She was wearing tight clothing . And at the back of her trousers she had the word " hot" printed so that this word covered her large butt. The young men saw her and the way she was dressed. I was so embarrassed over the way the men were talking about what they would do to sexually . I had to leave the bus . That is what dressing immodestly does .

This is very important, especially for young girls. Lots of the stuff marketed towards us is very short and tightly fitted, or sloppy and not presentable. Before getting saved, I wanted to dress like the other kids because I never really fit in. I bought lots of very short tops, but I realized that dressing modestly is much better for me and in the eyes of God. I feel very comfortable when I dress modestly now. God bless you Lana!
I’m so glad for this conversation because I used to battle with depression and through a lot of healing and deliverance I’ve been dressing in a way to honor myself as a daughter of God. The only thing that really has deterred me from wearing something is feeling like I’m going to be judged. And I have to remind myself that as long as I wear what honors me and my God- then I’m good.

I love this video!! As someone who grew up in Church, parents are pastors I’m currently on a journey of re-evaluating my faith. Knowing Jesus personally and not just knowing him based on what people have told me about him. One thing that has really helped me with my modesty journey is asking what my motive for wearing certain clothing and asking Holy Spirit what he wants me to wear. It’s really helped me grow on my relationship with him!! ❤❤❤
I was in denial about it in the past. Like I kept reasoning to myself that everyone does it (dressing immodest, wearing things just to impress others) and what harm could it do to me. But then I learned that the motive or intention of why we, ladies, dress up is what's important and what we should think of. Back then I wanted to copy everyone else's fashion or styles because it is what mostly find pretty or good looking. But I was reminded to refocus on whom I was trying to please. Very well said. Before I was a Christian, I was so insecure. I would dress “hot” thinking I would be likable. I didn’t realize it attracted only lustful eyes. God has given me a sense of beauty in who I am regardless of how I look. It’s also helped me to see beauty in every single person as well. Blessings!

The journey to inner and outer modesty for a godly woman is most precious and vital. 1 Peter 3:3 and 1 Timothy are in original Greek and in context not only applied to women but all believers, but I agree that Scripture always focuses on inner beauty. See Saul vs David. Personally I chose to do away with pants, I only wear skirts and dresses mostly knee-length or longer and wide 50s style. Not a rule, but it helped me a lot with cultivating biblical femininity and respecting myself.

I really struggle with finding a proper outfit that doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a potato sack. I'm 5ft tall so really baggy things make me look even shorter and fat. I want to please the Lord 😢
I feel you, sister! I'm just two inches taller than that. If you're in between sizes (where one is too form fitting and the other is too loose), try the bigger size with a cute belt. Shein has tons of cute belts, I prefer wide ones with bows or cool looking buckles. While pregnant(i have 6 kids), I wear form-fitting clothes with a long vest/lacy cardigan or even a fitted black dress with a floral on black swim cover on top. To cover my sides and behind. Can't wear bigger pregnancy stuff bc I look like a pillow or whale due to carrying all out front.
My husband established a strict dress code for me right after we were engaged and picks my clothes. I have a small but ample selection of slacks, knee length skirts and button down dress shirts. They're appropriate for every occasion - buttoned to the top for more formal occasions, top button open for more casual occasion. I honestly could not be happier relinquishing control of my attire to him. Now, clothing has absolutely no influence over my personal identity - as it used to.

Very well said. Before I was a Christian, I was so insecure. I would dress “hot” thinking I would be likable. I didn’t realize it attracted only lustful eyes.

Thank you for sharing on that topic. I am allowing the Word of God to be my mirror by doing self evaluation on how I dress to different places/occasions. My take away is to respect myself and respect others and honor God's Word by dressing modestly and beautifully as a daughter of God.

Thank you, good advice. The journey to inner and outer modesty for a godly woman is most precious and vital. 1 Peter 3:3 and 1 Timothy are in original Greek and in context not only applied to women but all believers, but I agree that Scripture always focuses on inner beauty. See Saul vs David.
Personally I chose to do away with pants, I only wear skirts and dresses mostly knee-length or longer and wide 50s style. Not a rule, but it helped me a lot with cultivating biblical femininity and respecting myself.

I really struggle with finding a proper outfit that doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a potato sack. I'm 5ft tall so really baggy things make me look even shorter and fat. I want to please the Lord 😢
I feel you, sister! I'm just two inches taller than that. If you're in between sizes (where one is too form fitting and the other is too loose), try the bigger size with a cute belt. Shein has tons of cute belts, I prefer wide ones with bows or cool looking buckles.
While pregnant(i have 6 kids), I wear form-fitting clothes with a long vest/lacy cardigan or even a fitted black dress with a floral on black swim cover on top. To cover my sides and behind. Can't wear bigger pregnancy stuff bc I look like a pillow or whale due to carrying all out front.

My husband established a strict dress code for me right after we were engaged and picks my clothes. I have a small but ample selection of slacks, knee length skirts and button down dress shirts. They're appropriate for every occasion - buttoned to the top for more formal occasions, top button open for more casual occasion. I honestly could not be happier relinquishing control of my attire to him. Now, clothing has absolutely no influence over my personal identity - as it used to.
