Why was Prof Amartya Sen appointed to such an august position at the revived Nalanda in the first place? The thinking was that his credentials would give glimmer and prestige to the project. This thinking is skewed. The man is well past his creative phase. When shall India turn to new novel creative blood ? I think Sai Deepak would have been better equipped for such a formidable challenge. Tragic that such huge resources are squandered for the further glorification of Prof Sen!!!

3.5 lakh Rupees per month is not a great salary for the University Professors in the USA/UK/Japan/Singapore. If you want internationally qualified professors you have to pay international salary. Private Universities of India are trying to do that but even they could not match the international salary level.
