I have a reproduction of the punch dagger. They’re formidable weapons for SURE.
I believe that the reason for the 3 finger guard was to allow the index finger to be free. That way you can still operate, even if it would be more awkward, a gun or other equipment without having to sheath the blade.

Nice run down enjoyed this big up my guy had collection bk when I woz a teen just found out my french inkoix switch blade woz rare say woz coz long gone had button but a straight line not round n bk lock n bolsters same both sides not up n down.
I never knew that they Mede 2nd knife shown..
I like that one even more… Everything back then was made so well as opposed to all the cheap crap they make these days..

Taken from butchers knives. They still make them, using different materials! These are butchers knives, just used by men as a weapon, just like all knives around then. Men used anything that they could get their hands on.
