I own a HS Exclusive and love it. It offers luxury motoring with all the extras and a 5 star Euro Ncap safety rating at a fraction of the cost of other makes. Ours was £21,800 on the road and bought to replace a Nissan Qashqai. Similar size SUV's with all the extras that we looked at (Qashqai, Tiguan, CX5 etc.) were all over £30,000!!!! When did cars get so expensive? We would have had to spend about 50% more to get a similar model from the other manufacturers. The cheapest base model Golf was over £24,000! Anybody worried about buying a Chinese car, DON'T. SAIC, the Chinese manufacturer who owns the MG brand produces about 9 million cars a year and even produces all the Audi ,Volkswagen, Skoda, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick cars alongside it's own brands MG, LDV and Roewe for the Asian and Australian markets. They have learnt very quickly how to make good cars and back that up with a 7 year warranty.

Had my Mg Exclusive for nearly a year now. Love the car really comfy and feels like a higher end car BUT problems i found which really grate me
      1. Infotainment has a mind of it’s own and is VERY laggy.
      2. The brakes slam on when you are nowhere near other cars especially if they are turning right in a filter lane and you are passing on the left
      3. The cruise control will barely ever reduce speed if using the hand stalk so have to turn it off then back on before you close the gap in front too much.
Other than that no complaints and offers a lot for the money.

Good watch. The car you tested was one of the first into the country and was Farrington Red ;) The red stitching on the front headrests is a giveaway! Also, the gear lagging around 40-45mph is a common issue with the Phev but if you are aware can drive through it, and with the 258 horses does not hang around! Love mine.

Awesome review, that intro was mint 😂. I have had the 10spd phev for review and i really liked it. It was the space and interior that is a big selling point. Not sure if you had issues with it but I found the powered tailgate was hit and miss and maybe 1 or 2 times out of 5 would actually work. Had my Hs PHEV just short of a year, when I got it found there was a vibration coming through my right foot when the engine would be running, at 4000 miles this has gone away.
With the car having 10 gears 4 for EV and 6 For ICE running you can find the can over rev if change from EV to ICE running. I spend most of the time driving in town in EV, it’s very quick of the mark and can leave other SUV standing. The best thing is now I have saved coming up to £700 in petrol as from day one any unspent money that would have put in my full ICE car I have put away and also adjust for increase in the petrol cost. I travel 16 miles a day to work and back and charge the car back up to 100% cost £1.35 on a 27p pkwh. I just wish MG did a full EV to this spec as from the 1st July 2022 some spec like the sun roof are going to be removed as a standard.

MG sold more vehicles than Honda in Europe in 2022, and in the UK, France, Spain and Germany, MG’s sales volume was more than double than that of Honda’s.
However, you need to keep in mind that MG is currently not available in all European countries (in 2022 it was, and currently it’s still missing in Switzerland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece). Those nine markets together represented over 9% of the total European volume.

Brilliant, if only because your a northerner ! But, taking that away I like the style of your review , not overloading on one for the sake of the other. I often see reviews where it seems like 80% is focused on the inside , and whilst I didn't check this seems really balanced. Why did I watch, well because I'm umming and ahhhhing about a change of car, and the MG seems great value , although I wouldn't go for a PHEV , hybrid something or other yes. Now, could if you've not done already a review of a Citroen C5 Aircross auto, or the new Citroen C5 X

The price of fuel will go up-substantially. The days of easy access to oil is over, with a of of oil being produced by fracking. the harder the oil is to extract, the more expensive it will be. Plus there are wars and economic disruptions/ collapses like the GFC, the COVID pandemic, etc, which will also influence fuel prices. Not keen on the lack of a spare tire/wheel. BEV is definitely the future, given that this PHEV has worse fuel economy than a RAV4 hybrid, I would stay away from this one and get a RAV 4 hybrid or a Haval H6 Hybrid if you're not ready for a fully electric car yet. They both have more boot space than the HS. If you use it on electric mode only, you can't go far and will destroy your battery by 100,000kms.
