I totally agree with Brando and have already come to the same conclusions since the very advent of the Mike Slive manufactured committee solution (which is nothing more than an SEC/B1G Co-op booster club in disguise as an electoral college).
But..I'm an old fart, I remember the 2000 BCS when the computers algorithms jobbed Washington for Florida State even though Washington beat two top 5 teams..one was #2 Miami, a common opponent.
Then FSU laid an egg against Oklahoma.
It's always been corrupt, Stanford beat Alabama up and down the field in the 1927 Rose Bowl, 🌹, missed an 18yard chip shot field goal and like the recent Iron Bowl, Alabama is able to use a punting error to stage a last minute drive that results in tie game Stanford wins the Rissman cup, but Alabama claims that Championship like many other endless claims to follow. The Rose proceeds built DENNY stadium and that game was the first coast to coast CFB radio broadcast, where in, bumhick, Alabama, a 13 year old boy is listening, and the wheels begin turning on how best he can rig college football...that boy... grew up to become Bear Bryant....and the rig never ends...

@@MosDefnIT88"The 1993 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 1993 NCAA Division I-A football season. Under first-year head coach Terry Bowden, the team went undefeated with a record of 11-0 and finished #4 in the AP Poll. Due to NCAA probation, Auburn was banned from TV and post-season play, and suffered reduced scholarships. The post-season ban prevented Auburn from playing the SEC Championship and a bowl game. Nonetheless, Auburn was the only major college football team to finish the season undefeated. The National Championship Foundation recognized Auburn as one of its four co-national champions;[1] however, Auburn University only formally recognizes championships for the 1957 and 2010 seasons,[2][3] although the official website for Auburn athletics does highlight the 1993 team."
Auburn wasn't eligible... dude. So they weren't the SEC champion and the school itself doesn't even recognize that season as any sort of championship team.
Also an apples to oranges comparison. There wasn't even the BCS yet in '93, let alone a 4 team playoff. The champion was decided by AP and/or coaches poll. Which everyone agreed was a joke of a way to decide a champion because it was just based off subjective opinion. And that's exactly what this sham of a committee reverted back to on Sunday. "We think, we feel, we believe blah blah blah" etc etc. Instead of actual merit based accomplishments like ya know...not losing a single game while playing in a major conference and also scheduling legitimate non-conference opponents. Two of which were from the holier-than-thou SEC in LSU and Florida.

It was a catch 22. They werent gonna leave the SEC out but they couldn't leave UGA ranked above Bama cause they're ranked close enough to the top theyd both get in. Unless UGA is still ranked ahead of them. Then you certainly cant leave out a conference champ Texas(that beat Bama earlier in the season) AND FSU. They knew leaving FSU out was going to be controversial enough on its own. Conveniently enough FSUs QB situation gave them the perfect out. Granted they definitely looked rough vs Louisville to back that up. So their only option was to dump UGA to 6th to not make leaving FSU out look TOO egregious. As an FSU fan I'm a little bummed out that we didn't make the ESPN invitational college football "championship". The Orange bowl game has no significance because both teams will have players, NFL prospects opting out of because they want to transfer etc. If FSU wins well persons would argue that 3 offensive line men a safety and running back opted out of playing. If Georgia wins well two DTs, a linebacker, running back, two corners from FSU opted out.
In regards to the 12 team invitational championship, the top 4 spots that get a bye week are guaranteed to teams that win a conference championship and not the win loss strength of schedule. So that will still make it crap.
I do wish that FSU would give them the middle finger by going to the Orange Bowl and after the coin toss line up for the kick off and then the coach call a time out. When the timeout expires, call the next time out and the final time out and then the entire team walks off the field gets on the bus and heads back to Tallahassee.
It would cost ESPN so much money and screw them over. It would be costly to FSU, but well worth it. The bowl revenue we get will be split between all teams in the ACC conference so we wouldn't lose as much.

All an SEC team has to say to a recruit is you dont want to play for FSU because even if you win all games you have a better chance in our SEC conference because we get the benefit of the doubt as far as the college football invitational championship game is concerned.

I've always said that if CFB wants to be taken seriously, they will need a "TRUE" playoff, rather than a beauty contest. Every level of football, from peewee to Pop Warner to the pros, has a legitimate playoff system whereby the teams play their way into the playoffs. Everything is decided on the field, rather than being determined by a corrupt "selection" committee. That's why I can't watch gymnastics or figure skating. It's not determined by who performed the best, but based on opinions. Opinions don't win games, players and coaches do.
