I love the Iron Warrior dread as it suits the gritty, sometimes rushed repairs that the IV th make to their gear when it takes a beating. I agree though, outside of the IW it would make a killer Cortus.
Makes sense for the EC dreadnought to have near excessive symbols and frillery going on, as they go even further overboard when they fell. could the Iron-Hands dread have been taken away because of the different body-type maybe? i suspect they didn't want to spend more on a different mold.
Being something of a wielder of Hanlon's Razor. I wouldn't be surprised if the mould(s) got worn down while looking for a the master pattern and then realised they'd really lost it! I was told (by a guy from FW) when the Tau Barracuda disappeared, a long time ago, it was because the original pattern was damaged and they had to re-work it. It came back, different. So we can but hope...

I'm glad I watched this. You've managed to sell me on the UM dreadnought. Solely by pointing out that the crotch piece is separate - I like leather straps handing off my UMs but I dislike the curve to the different lengths and they are way too thick. Take a look at something like the old praetor set - that's the thickness they should be. If I can ditch that, all I need to do is make some new knees for it because they're hideous. I think you should also do a quick addendum review on a UM contemptor conversion that you might be able to find from a certain recaster. Sadly I've no idea who to credit with the original conversion and can't find it on google. Imo, better than the FW offering (mainly because it's based on the relic contemptor, which is great).
picked up an Iron Hands contemptor recently and I have to say it really is such a good design, has so much character and it doesn't look like it will be too hard to clean up a little to make it just slightly less busy

I totally agree about the Raven Guard Contemptor- the worst part about it is the pseudo-tribal swirling bas-relief (ha- my autocorrect tried to insert “bad-relief”). The rest of it is great! I actually converted my “Rigor Mortis Calthnought” into a Raven Guard model- I cut and reposed the hips, legs, magnetized the arms at the shoulder and the elbow, made him a chainfist, put a Cyclone Missile Launcher from the GW Terminator kit on top, made a Legion icon for the chest from a winged banner topper and a bird skull from GW’s Skulls kit, and most importantly, I painted on the tribal stuff in the same pattern as on the FW model. It looks so much better as a surface design, and NOT in 3D. I have both models next to each other where I display my Legion, and I’d say that 99% of the people who look at them pick up the one I converted over the FW “official” one. On a somewhat related subject, have you seen GW’s Raven Guard Primaris upgrade kit? Before I saw it I thought that maybe I’d pick one up for some shoulder pauldrons and maybe some fetishes/totems. Then I looked at it in the store- first off, the transfer sheet only had 5 shoulder transfers and maybe 2 for vehicles- the rest were kind of generic looking numerals, etc. But the worst thing is that the Raven icon on the sculpted pauldrons isn’t the Raven Guard symbol- it’s totally different! I thought that maybe the different icon was just on the crap Shrike model’s pauldron as he’s a special character, but they changed all of them! Take a look when you get a chance- it’s really disappointing. Needless to say, I left the store without it.
Alpha Legion is my favourite Contemptor. But I am biased to them because I am Alpharius. My only criticism with the Alpha Legion Contemptor is the head, it looks good, but I think I would have preferred if it looked more like the Lernean head, or the ones you get with the Alpha Legion praetors. Other than that, it is by far my favourite. On a side note, it doesn't take much to look better than the Sons of Horus dreadnought. The only one in my opinion that might be worse is the Space Wolves one. It just looks kind of trash. Just like the Varagyr terminators.
I actually would have preferred the iron hands dreadnought be designed like the iron warriors contemptor without the stripes and skull head. It would match the iron hands torsos on the MKIII squad.

I’m really surprised the World Eaters Contemptor is your favourite. Not in a bad way but because it’s my favourite also. Using mine in my 40k force and it definitely is the centrepiece of my army.

Trunk Slamchest Since he didn’t reply yet, I can tell you that the only thing I remember him saying was that the sculpt was really cool looking, but like you said, the rules are shit. I don’t believe that he mentioned anything about converting it, but saying that it would be good to use as either a regular Contemptor or something else (perhaps in 40K). If you’ve only seen the “Getting Started with Word Bearers” video, he also talks about it in the video “Mediocre Units from the Heresy” or a similar title- (definitely said Mediocre in the title, if that helps you to look it up.)
I bought the white scars dreaddy (not fw) loved it! The knee pads and legs was customizable so I posed it with one leg up and resting it’s foot on a rock
I was waiting to hear about that cheepshitty plastic one pose Dreadnought GW made. I hated that thing so much I did use one in my EC army I just cut in the waist line area and turned the body to it's right and replaced the shoulders with 3D printed ones with magnets so I have options for other weapons. But I will never get one again and the day I even end up with another one is the day the Chaos gods play a sick joke on me. It is over priced and can not be posed. I will happily buy a Forgeworld Contemptor and pay extra for arms. I don't care if I am paying that extra I like to able to pose my contemptors. (Side note I told GW store manager that and to my surprise I was not asked to leave the store because I told younger newer players not to buy it and get the Forgeworld ones) Edit: Also I like the Emperor's Children Contemptor as it had that Decorate look I pictured the EC's having. But yeah not sure what the heck happened to the Iron Hands Contemptor Dread either and that ticked off my friend who started Iron hands and bought one and wanted to expand to make a Talon and now he is looking around for either Ebay sellers or re-casters.
I feel the the blood angles jump dreadnought probably doesn't actually fly it's more like a boost pack to give it a more devastating impact when it charges
The Blood Angels Contemptor-Incaendius isnt a drop unit, it is an actual Jumppack, he only makes leaps with that. I dont believe he gets more than 20 meter up with that thing, and a 20 meter fall is something a Contemptor schould definetly be able too tank. So i would imagine him just crashing in too the enemy formations and then beginning too claw them apart.
i see purity seals as a good addition to a weapon, only one or two, and only for one model out of 10 or for a sergeant/veteran and up imo. But i honestly wish I could do scales like the FW salamanders so I could make scaled cloaks, and tabards, and other stuff like those, some scaled cloaks etc.
When they're attached to weaponry it just makes me think of service badges, clearing the weapon for use. Similar to what engineers and electricians use. If that makes sense.
the sons of horus dread is my favorite, but the helmets and units for that legion just don't compare. especially the Justaerin just looking slumped and drunkenly put together.
First! I actually really like the Ultrasmurf one. I have to say I prefer the Blood Angels special dread over the standard one, minus the backpack. The Deathguard contemptor goes perfectly with MKii and even Mkiii armour, great in any Legion.
I was actually gonna use the incaendius dread to convert to EC. That’s the nice things about the blood angels and custodies is that they have all That extra filigree that the EC use as well.
I love the World Eater Contemptor, lovely lines on it, same with the Death Guard version which makes a great WE sub. The Contemptor design as a whole is far superior to the Redemptor as far as I am concerned and I like the design for Redemptor, for the most part. Edited.
I really like aiakos power weapon. I don't really like the rest of the model. So I buy a recast of the close combat arm and buy a different dreadnought

what the fulgrim is going on with the Calth one? Looks like the equivalent of T-posing in unfinished computer games. I'm not too thrilled about the DA one. Looks too much like 40k DA.

I think the EC's contemptor is pretty fluffy considering the EC loving perfection, OTT icons and symmetry.
Battle of calth and the switch to full CAD work brought the decline and death of good Contemptor designs.

Inca-Endius, (Ous) might also refer to something incandescent or incendiary because of the jumpack focus.

The NightLords Dreadnought is by far my favorite I just got mine that I ordered He’s going to be the leader of my custom NightLords warband
Of course the White Scars get the Leviathan dread... how else are they getting through the Great Wall.

The Sons of Horus, Galatus and Osiron dreadnought are the best looking dreads imo.
