Craft can actually "Share" to Things and it auto creates the deep link. I'll take meeting notes in Craft and export the action items to Things to track my actions and to follow up with others.
I always look forward to a new video from you, Chris. You are no-nonsense and to the point. You clearly explain and demonstrate. Excellent video as always.
i just got to know about creating headings within projects and that has been a game changer for me. Thanks for showing this simple yet important tip Christopher! Love and support from India!
1) I appreciate you reminding people to not just copy youtubers or what they see online, and instead to figure out what works for the individual. 2) I like the idea of using emoji’s as icons! I typically hate emoji’s but this is one good use for them! Thanks!
Well...I'm a little late...but, nice video! 🤪 I watched your playlist " My Daily iPad Workflow" and I found it AMAZING!!! Why? Well...obviously, it's fantastic...but even more so because of how MUCH I use the iPad. Sidenote (or really sideSTORY...) I had a cycling accident - where I almost DIED - but resulted in me becoming 'disabled.' I WAS a software engineer, but doctors determined I can no longer work due to my TBI. I have found the iPad to be EXTREMELY useful to consume information now. THANK YOU for making these videos and spreading this information! I could go on and on - I tend to be long-winded now...🤪.....but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing this information! And as a fellow tech person - you just flew up on my badass list!!!
I was watching iOS Today and your description of Things 3 got my attention. I bought it after watching this and getting an idea of how it would help me.
Research and tracking is such a good idea. I had literally just finished putting some stuff into Sofa, complaining inwardly (once again) about the tension created just by using the Sofa interface, the time spent looking through the result of searches, and the fact that you’re dependent on the databases it uses. I’ve tried this in Things in the past, and never been happy with my implementation. Your suggestion is so simple, but absolutely perfect. Thank you :-)))
Thanks Christopher, really enjoyed your video and learnt a couple new points (things, no pun intended). What struck me most, your fluidity of sharing, not a typical "buy my course stacked video with bits to rope you in)
You’ve convinced me again... I have to give Things 3 a try. I’ll try Things 3 & Fantastical and see how they work out for me.... Always a gem of video Chris!!!!
Thank you so much I am so happy to have seen this! I have been going back and forth between getting things 3 on my mac, I love using it for my phone and apple watch so far and wasn't sure if it was worth it to buy the $69 Mac OS version. I have been trying to use notion but like you I like the idea of it being able to be completed and then removed books, movies, games, shows, restaurants or travel locations. I was trying to use notion just for this but I found I don't go into notion often enough to use it as a task manager since I can't use it on my watch as quickly and it doesn't sync very well with my calendar app.
Thanks for the breakdown. Had Things for awhile, and keep finding good productivity hacks to add. Your brain dump tip is going to be tried out tonight 😊
using of shorcuts will bring this to another level. and now, with markdown support, things became even more versatile. I don't think i need Notion anymore. This is like the ultimate life tracking tool now lol.
This is a fantastic video Chris. The pacing of this is so much better than the GTD/Things3 one you made a couple of years ago. On that one I could barely keep up. On this one, I can easily follow every point you make. Really well done, mate. Thank you.
I loved this video. Thank you for uploading it. I also tried to bring “Research & Tracking” elements into Things, but it really bugs me that the circular Project progress indicator will never show as finished, lol.
Great video as always! I continue as an iPad pro only user for friends like you, by the way i use apple reminder with your shortcut since many months! The shortcut is very very useful! Blessings
Having tried Things 3 before and refunding, this time is different…….. after watching a few of your video’s here, I decided to give it another go. On my iPad Pro and with iPadOS 15, it’s a different app for me now. Alongside Fantastical this could be a bit of a change for my routine. Thanks for all the video’s and the shortcuts I need to get used to. 🙏🏻😃👍🏻
I checked this out again after hearing you talk about on Amazon, it really does seem to be pretty useful to organize things and keep on top of life! Your video was super helpful and really informative. Thanks Chris!
I keep the books / movies / etc in Notion so I can track other metadata, like genre, number of pages, why I want to watch/read this, etc - so if I want to watch something, I can pick, short comedy, or science fiction long book, etc - I find it much better than polluting my task manager, but everyone is different.
I align Things to the GTD methodology and work with a shared screen with the Calendar 5 app from Readdle with my day-to-day meetings and if I require a deepend in any project I use the notes app.
Reminder is a great 'catcher' for quick streams of thought. You can set Things up to import items from Reminders, which is a great way to use both effectively for their strengths.
I’m a Things user, love it. But what do you think of Sorted. It allows you add calendar events as tasks into the timeline. Seems like a neat feature for headless chickens like me :)
I can’t get used to Dark Mode. Tried a few times, think it’s cool, then get tired of it and go back to regular. Oh well. Great video. I’m a recent user of Things 3 and videos like these are very helpful. Do you use the Mac OS app as well? A video on that specifically would be great. 😎👍
I'm constantly torn between Things 3 and Todoist. Things looks way better and feels like it was designed by Apple. But Todoist has so many good features, specifically natural language input in the main input fields and the ability to add attachments. From they are the most compelling reasons to use Todoist.
I couldn't help myself, but I noticed Ghost of Tsunami there and I believe you want to play Ghost of Tsushima? 5:31 Anyways, great video and great app. I use it too, but the way I sort things is very different from what I see on TH-cam.
I love things, this whole video gave me some ideas. But I also learned a new app.. craft? I’ve never heard of that. Will check your channel if there’s a video about it. Thanks!
Excellent overview Chris. Thanks a lot. I will be waiting to test iOS 15. I need better multitasking abilities. The first go at it was well inadequate for me.
thanks for the lovely video, with lots of apps - my ideas, task, todo scattering all over the place is awful .. i am gonna implement the Research and Tracking area too .. would be just be perfect : ))
Those were some really good tips. I love Things. But I just wish if there was a way to get completed projects from the area removed and archived so that the area doesn't get crowded. For now, I use a separate area called completed and move projects there when done. Not sure if there's a better way to do it. I love the subtasks aka lists. I wish if there was a way to keep them visible always so that they're not hidden under the main task. Thanks for the great video. You have a new subscriber.
You can log completed projects (on iPad, tap the big arrow up right in area view) This will move completed tasks and projects both into logbook, out of the sidebar and the area view
Hey! Just downloaded the Things shortcut to add a new list of things quickly & love it! One question: do you know if there is a way to have that shortcut perform the same but then ask what Area to add them to?
Update: Was able to figure out that part of the Shortcut! Was also able to create another shortcut to create a new project (using yours as a starting point), ask which Area I would like it to be in, create new task(s) within that project, then launch Things to show that newly created project. Great stuff!
Hey Christopher, first of all: let me express my gratitutde to you: I am learning a lot from your video. I used the iPad as a "toy" (mostly to consume media) but since I bought the Air with M1 chip I am using it more and more to manage my stuff.. now.. I am develpoing this "things 3" taste but also this "fantastical 3 taste"... but there is ONE BIG ISSUE that is preventing me to move forward: they don't talk to eachother.. I saw that ToDoist can be integrated with Fantastical, not so much THings.. since you use both, may I ask how do you use them? Please note that to me the calendar app (any one) is needed to set my activities (any one of them) in a time frame and with a time allowance while the todo list is a detailed view of the tasks that compoeses any given activity (in some case an activity and a task can be the same but it is rarely the case). thanks a lot, keep up the amazing work you are doing
Chris, I love your videos man. You have singlehandedly kept me engaged with my iPad. Quick question, I downloaded your “new task” shortcut, but when I run it - using the Magic Keyboard - it doesn’t allow me to type in the actual popup. The text using the MK appears in the search window behind it. When I use the on-screen KB, it works, just not with the MK. Any suggestions?
I’m not sure if you sent through this but are you able to make sub areas where you can put projects/tasks in that sub area? For example I have a school area and I want to put a math “sub-area” then I could put projects or upcoming assignments in?
what do you think about Minimalist vs Things 3? Also, if I buy Things 3 do you think Things 4 (when its released) will be an additional purchase to upgrade? kinda broke rn.
What’s your favorite productivity tip?
Minimalism across productivity spectrum
Craft! It has changed my work life.
Craft can actually "Share" to Things and it auto creates the deep link. I'll take meeting notes in Craft and export the action items to Things to track my actions and to follow up with others.
The shortcut app because it’s very convenient for me I’ve got my friend set up to FaceTime on shortcut Every night and documents to
Productivity tip: Grab your Dr. Pepper and sit down to do your brain dump. Mine would be coffee especially in the morning
I always look forward to a new video from you, Chris. You are no-nonsense and to the point. You clearly explain and demonstrate. Excellent video as always.
You have been one of the reasons why i started using things on my iPad Pro about a year ago and I’ve been loving it ever since!
i just got to know about creating headings within projects and that has been a game changer for me. Thanks for showing this simple yet important tip Christopher! Love and support from India!

I saw the “What’s on my iPhone” in your projects. I’m excited to hear the 2021 version of it
I was watching iOS Today and your description of Things 3 got my attention. I bought it after watching this and getting an idea of how it would help me.

Been watching you for the past few months. Just bought Things 3 because of this video. Love it! Now I gotta figure out Shortcuts.
Same .. I use Things 3 like you with Craft Docs, the best productivity tools ever! Thanks for the video, I learned some features I didn't know about.
Clarity and simplicity are too often undervalued! Thank you for this.
I’m glad you liked it!
Comment 2 - I’ve used your ‘New Task’ shortcut and got that on my home screen. Superb stuff Chris! Thanks for all this 🙂👍🏻
I just subscribed. Thank you so much I just got things3 and haven’t been able to figure out how to make headings
I’m a person who completely disliked any kind of screen protector. Tried Paperlike based on your recommendation. It’s so good! Also: Things 3 💯
Watched this multiple times and still covincing my self for Things for iPad. I have for mac and iPHone
Was little scared of expending the money on things but after this video I’m totally into it!
this video is the snack my OCD was looking for today lol
The iPad KING is coming up on that 100k let’s gooooo
Hell yeah! Party time when I do hit it!
I must study and apply your hacks. Maximizing my 7th Gen Ipad is a gem.
I've been using Things for quite a while and learned a lot more on some awesome tidbits and shortcuts. Thanks Chris!
Again an accurate video on a fantastic productivity tool, like you always make, Chris 👍
Thank you!!

Very useful video, I love how you structured it and what you use to stay productive. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!!
For the love of god, automatic bill pay! My stress levels went up watching this haha Great video :)
Thanks for the breakdown. Had Things for awhile, and keep finding good productivity hacks to add. Your brain dump tip is going to be tried out tonight 😊

Thank you. This was a very helpful video. I employed most of the tips as you went along in the video. I'll definitely be keeping most of these tips.
Thanks so much for this video! It was so helpful!
I can always find ways to improve my setup after watching your videos, thanks!
Blessings
Great job on the video - thanks

I did not know that you could create headings by dragging the plus button to the left of the screen. Thanks! Also thanks for the shortcuts
What a great video. I love Things3 and have been using it for a couple of years but didn’t know about a couple of these items.
Hey Chris! Thank you for the video. I am curious to know - Are you still using Things 3 in 2022?
Love that idea for research and tracking.
I’m glad you like it! It’s pretty handy.
I’m new here but I love your channel!
This is amazing. Great content as always. Big inspiration for me starting my channel 🙌🏾
Beautifu lreview of Things 3 :) Hope you can do a comparison or review of Taskade in the future, and we just released our iPad update !
Where do you have your recurring tasks, in the personal area? Tasks that repeat every month or year, etc....
Good video, I am always looking for new ways to organize.
I really wanted this video!
BOOM! There it is!
I keep the books / movies / etc in Notion so I can track other metadata, like genre, number of pages, why I want to watch/read this, etc - so if I want to watch something, I can pick, short comedy, or science fiction long book, etc - I find it much better than polluting my task manager, but everyone is different.
Awesome video 👍🏽
I don't even use apple products anymore and I got inspiration for my own setup from your video nonetheless. Thank you.
That’s high praise, thank you!!
Excellent app and explanation. Congrats
Very useful! Thanks!
Awesome video as always Chris. Took a lot of good tips from this video. Thanks!
I align Things to the GTD methodology and work with a shared screen with the Calendar 5 app from Readdle with my day-to-day meetings and if I require a deepend in any project I use the notes app.
Hard to not use apple reminders with all the location and Siri based functionality (Watch, HomePod, etc)
Reminder is a great 'catcher' for quick streams of thought.
You can set Things up to import items from Reminders, which is a great way to use both effectively for their strengths.
Every time I look at using different task managers I always come back to Apple Reminders. Reminders is free and does 90% of what I need.
It's good but it can't integrate with other apps. Things 3 is the beautiful UI and everything overall. 😂😂
I’m a Things user, love it. But what do you think of Sorted. It allows you add calendar events as tasks into the timeline. Seems like a neat feature for headless chickens like me :)
Liked and subscribed, thanks for this great video
I can’t get used to Dark Mode. Tried a few times, think it’s cool, then get tired of it and go back to regular. Oh well. Great video. I’m a recent user of Things 3 and videos like these are very helpful. Do you use the Mac OS app as well? A video on that specifically would be great. 😎👍
Great video, Chris ... I love Things!
Thank Bhav! 😃👍
I just saw “update money tracker” on a list. Would love to know which one you use!
is this app good just for taking notes? i mean i can take notes without putting them as a to do list?
This was helpful, thanks!
Where did you get that cool bookshelf from?
I'm constantly torn between Things 3 and Todoist. Things looks way better and feels like it was designed by Apple. But Todoist has so many good features, specifically natural language input in the main input fields and the ability to add attachments. From they are the most compelling reasons to use Todoist.
I couldn't help myself, but I noticed Ghost of Tsunami there and I believe you want to play Ghost of Tsushima? 5:31
Anyways, great video and great app. I use it too, but the way I sort things is very different from what I see on TH-cam.
How did you create those dividing lines? Assume they are just areas with a line in them, but how did you get a line like that?
Have you tried Sorted?
Another really useful video. Thanks. What’s it like removing a Paperlike if you don’t like it?
Super easy, just peel it off.
Very helpful, thanks g
Great Video !!! Thins or Notion ?.......
I love things, this whole video gave me some ideas. But I also learned a new app.. craft? I’ve never heard of that. Will check your channel if there’s a video about it. Thanks!
Does it matter which app? I have an iPad and want to use it with my iPhone. Too. Do I have to buy both things 3 and things for iPad?
Excellent overview Chris. Thanks a lot. I will be waiting to test iOS 15. I need better multitasking abilities. The first go at it was well inadequate for me.
This is fantastic!
Thanks!
Thanks for your videos!
Can you use things 3 shared with others and across other devices?
I really enjoy your videos... keep up the good work!
Thank you!!
Have you taken the course Building A Second Brain? So many things you mentioned in here reminded me of little bits and pieces of that online course.
I’ve never even heard of it, but I’ll look it up.
@@ChrisLawley look for Tiago Forte it’s his course.
How are you using tags, I can see tags in the video but would be interested to know how you use those?
thanks for the lovely video, with lots of apps - my ideas, task, todo scattering all over the place is awful .. i am gonna implement the Research and Tracking area too .. would be just be perfect : ))

This seems like the reminders app but with a much better UI.
How do you add separator lines between areas/projects?! (I just realized that the Mac app doesn't have them but the iPhone app does.
Hey Christopher, first of all: let me express my gratitutde to you: I am learning a lot from your video. How did you get Areas in Today view? The ability is greyed out for me when I try.
Do you have a video on using Things3 for your video production?
Great video, do you have any suggestions for an Android app that does something similar?
Can we add images in our lists that are visible and not just the link?
Chris, I love your videos man. You have singlehandedly kept me engaged with my iPad. Do you know how to create a shortcut to create location based reminders within “Things”?
what do you think about Minimalist vs Things 3? Also, if I buy Things 3 do you think Things 4 (when its released) will be an additional purchase to upgrade? kinda broke rn.
Do you think Things 3 is still worth it when working with the most recent Reminders iOS app?
I wish you could create a Scribble shortcut or have a toggle in the control panel to turn it on and off
What are your serious issues with GTD? Can you point to the other video where you talk about it?
