As a low carb/keto lover.....All the haters criticized Paul for years, calling him dogmatic and close-minded. now he's telling people to eat carbs ( has been for a while ). He's always tried to think outside the box, and he's always followed "science." Good job, Paul 💯 thanks for all the good info
the problem is he thinks this new approach is correct, and its not for many people doing this diet. I cant eat carbs like he can. I have to limit them to 0g or very low, something below 20g per day.
people are too stupid to realize that the conclusion here is not one size fits all, some will do well on carnivore 100% like mikhaila peterson, others won't like cole robinsom (he did a video saying eating only meat caused him to get constipated, he hated it) some people will be better off on carnivores, others on carnivore plus carbs due to transit time, others will do better on keto, others will do better on vegan only, fruitarian only, this really depends on the genetic profile of the individual, gut microbiome etc etc, again, not one size fits all. And because of this what works best for a group of people wont work well for others, and then they start fighting and arguing on the internet "you will get such and such if you keep only following that diet, you're an ydiot bla bla bla, you will get cancer if you keep eating only meat; no, you will get cancer if you keep adding carbs to the carnivore diet, you will get diabetes, you will get some brain disease" and they keep saying BS after BS as if it was a dogmatic truth, no dude, it's not.. we got people here living longer lives, eating a variety of diets, keto, carnivore, vegan, if you feel well eating a particular way, then keep it, you're vibrant full of energy with no disease following a certain diet? Don't change just because another person is doing it differently, that's stupid
My gut microbiome was messed up for so long, all my body can handle is beef and lamb. If I ate anything else my pain level and brain fog would skyrocket! I've been strict carnivore since October 2024. I just started adding plain raw milk cheese, raw milk yogurt with some honey and blueberries 🫐 I miss food, but I love feeling great for the first time in 20 years!
take trans glutathione and raw colostrum when your guts fixed then reintroduce carbs you need to increase your atp in order to not gain weight from carbs pauls right but he doesnt fully explain it
Same my gut is a mess so I’ve been cutting more and more carbs. I handle berries the best but high sugar fruit and any veg including botanical fruits cause gas and bloating. But I know it’s my gut and it shouldn’t be the norm for those with healthier guts to fear fruit. I am hoping to reinstroduce more plant foods once my gut heals. I do not think fruit should be feared at all and I will keep my berries and honey and long as I can 😅
@Ananimous7777 Yes, a little bit at a time. I had spaghetti squash and I've been eating 3 dates a day. Kelly Hogan with My Zero Carb Life on TH-cam interviewed one of her members a couple of weeks ago, and she was telling my story! It's taken her body years to heal.
Anything the FDA recommends, I now do the opposite. A book 'Health and Beauty Mastery' by Julian Bannett exposes so many shocking truths. I completely changed my habits.
Translation for those of us that are not completely psychotic: 'About 1 to 2% of what the FDA recommends may potentially be flawed enough to where the opposite is true'. Obviously this person is not actually doing poisonous drugs, injecting testosterone, taking copious amounts of transfats, eating as processed as possible etc. Which would be what they should be doing if they actually did the opposite of FDA recommendations.
I started a carnivore diet. 1 year ago almost. I have the most healthy. My brain fog is gone, I have more energy, I sleep better, I have a more clear mind. Thank You Dr. Paul. Love ur content. ❤😊
Wrong. I was on pure carnivore ended up with insomnia, muscle cramps and heart palpitations. After quitting strict carnivore 6 months ago, my sleep is still a mess. Carnivore diet does have some serious side effects on some people.
i went from carnivore to animal based and back. I lost all the benefits of carnivore by adding honey and fruits. my brain fog, insomnia, ED, slow muscle recovery, inflammation all came back and i got fat. I went back to carnivore for good but now im experimenting with 3-8g of carbs per day in the form of sugar, it helps with the hydration issue.
@@bullmeatt damn I wondered if I got crazy or sth because I wrote exactly the same comment somewhere else (brain fog came back immediately). So I stopped animal based two weeks after starting it. But some people are different and strict carnivore doesn't work for them, at least at the beginning.

Yes this is a spam bot. Seen it many times. Also, herbalism is medicine and only for short term use. Paul doesn't like herbal medicine, due to toxins in plants. He says herbs are like drugs and should come with a package insert like pharms drugs, listing side effects.
I think Paul is doing great work for healthy eating and living and do not think he is wrong about carbs. I do however think that the right carbohydrate intake varies greatly from person to person depending on factors such as age, activity level, hormone levels and genetics. What works for Paul in his early 40s does not work for me in my mid 60s even though I agree with the principals he advocates. I get the best results with 30 to 50 grams of carbs per day with a beef and eggs diet and consistent weight training.
Same! I just did a full day where my only carbs was yogurt and berries and my bloating was gone. In the evening I did breadfruit (higher starch/carbs) and I bloated. I’m finding my limit and it does tend to be lower carb but I’m also a petite 5’0 woman who is not that active and preexisting gut issues and insulin resistant (normal AIC though) I Dnt think the blanket statements of fruit or carbs is bad is accurate. Once my gut heals more and/or I’m more active I’m sure more carbs will be necessary and I’m finding the lower starch ones are my happy place
My story so far. Over three months into the carnivore diet with daily intermittent fasting, and the results are life-changing! Here are my numbers: * Weight: Down 30 pounds * Blood Pressure: Improved from 139/90 to 123/73 * Glucose Levels: Dropped from 123 mg/dL to 102 mg/dL * Ketones: Now at 3.0 mmol/L * GKI (Glucose Ketone Index): 1.8 This combination has truly transformed my health and my life!
That won't last. Over time, you are destroying your kidneys, adrenals, liver and gall bladder. You're running on glucose via protein, which yields ammonia (bad) and wastes aminos on gluconeogensis when you need them for tissue and organ repair. Ketones are literally your body working hard not to break down due to starvation. Sound healthy to you? Every cell in your body runs on glucose. You will need to abandon the extreme diet and come to a more balance approach to avoid major issues headed your way over time.
Nutrition With Judy, Judy Ho, would say the first reply is rubbish. You can't possibly be starving on carnivore, and fat is fine for energy production. Paul and Judy don't actually recommend fasting. An on-line psychiatrist Chris Palmer puts all patients on keto, long term. He says it's the best diet for everyone.

@@steveng8727 Not the guy you asked, but I went on a low carb diet initially and lost 90lbs. Then I backslid for a couple of years (lived in Mexico), then came back and went straight carnivore for 8 months. I found I needed at least 1 cup of berries every other day, and 2 cups of veggies of some sort, salad mainly, every day. I was too weak on the strict carnivore diet, and when I added back about 30-40 grams of carbs every other day, my strength went back to where I wanted it. I've lost 114lbs so far and aiming for another 30. Good luck! Low carbs and eat only twice a day within a 6-12 hour window, and start a light weight lifting routine if you're capable.
I think he is right, and I want to add that the better way to get in ketosis is to fast not by eating less carbs, fruits and honey are meant to be eaten, just eat them at the end of your meals !
@ ketosis is state where your body produce ketone and to reach this state naturally the best way is to stop eating during a small period of time like our ancestors did when they were hunting, they didn't get access to food all the time
Limit your carbohydrates to 100 - 150 grams and increase your intake from this point based on how much physical activity you do on each day. That easy.
@asdf1991asdf then do that Playa. Bio-individuality. Eat however you thrive... just like Paul has said for years. I did carnivore strict for 2 yrs. Loved it.
2 months on carnivore and i felt weak, heart palpitations no matter how much electrolytes i took, changed to animal base its going much better..thnx dr saladino
While I agree wih Paul that we need not fear whole food carbs, ancestrally speaking we never had access to modern large sweet fruits and honey on a daily basis.
@DrAJ_LatinAmerica When referring to ancient Egypt that was only a few thousand years ago. So that civilization cannot be considered "ancestral". By that time they already were able to cultivate grains and other vegetation along with raising livestock. I would also imagine that the geography was different in that region compared to what it is today. Yes there probably was fruit and honey but again they would not be something in abundance like today
@@JYAN2852 it's not simple. There is no way to tell how the ancestral people thought about things. Plus considering how polluted our brains are with forever chemicals and other sh*t can we trust our imaginations?
I (64) have been eating 'your' diet since before your were born. What you apparently do not recognize is that some people (I estimate 20% of adults in the US) have, via gluttony and inactivity, corrupted their metabolic signaling, and they are thus now incapable of moderating their intake of carbohydrates. For them the only solution is to not eat any carbohydrates.
@@taylorrichens1749 there's no such thing as "food addiction." That's just bad habits and starvation desperately signaling for nutrients and often a long term dehydration issue.
I was a relaxed carnivore for a while I was eating beef pork chicken eggs butter raw milk cheese raw yoghurt if I could get my hands on it if not was full fat Greek yoghurt and I did really well with this way of eating,I decided I needed to change it up a bit when I started getting heart palpitations bad calf cramps and eye twitching everyday,I started adding fruit in my diet by having the fruits lower on the gi index at first build up so anything within the berries family it seemed to help with my ailments but not completely so started adding fruit higher on the carb scale and it healed my problems but it’s created a new one I find myself hungry everyday on a animal based diet I don’t know why
Glucose is the preferred energy of the trillions of cells in your body. I recommend a high carb refeed until you cannot eat any more carbs. Many of us coming from low carb/keto diets have restricted carbs for so long that once the body senses them coming in exogenously, hunger will ramp up to unbelievable levels, specifically for carbs. I was a fool and tried sticking in that low carb introduction phase for months and felt horrible. It was the strong sistas and others that I learned from that if you are coming from a keto diet which is basically starvation/low energy availability, sometimes we gotta shock the body to stop it from overreacting. The hunger is a normal, logical response..do not ignore it
Paul, please do an experiment. Reduce your hours of exercise everyday for a month and keep eating the same way as you are now. I bet you start packing on the pounds. The less active you are as you get older, the less carbs you need and that will vary for everyone.
I'm fairly certain he agrees with this, which is why he added carbs back into his diet. He was far too active to feel his best fully carnivore. I was fully carnivore for about 4+ years and saw great results, however when I went fully animal-based I saw even more improvements.
For me, I needed to eliminate all Carbs for a few months to reset the liver....After losing 25 lbs as a petite 50 yo female ...So now I do have honey and fruit with raw milk
That was me at 30. Did the uber-strict Body Ecology diet for about 6 months, then slowly started to bring in things like homemade goat milk kefir blended with fruit, potatoes, sprouted bread, etc. Once I was metabolically healthy again, foods which used to be a problem weren't at all.
@@Kinesiology411 Potatoes are high in oxalates and whole grains also, including phytic acid. They're poison rubbish foods. Healthy now? Trouble could happen later and you'll have no idea it's from oxalate or phytic acid blocking mineral absorption.
@@GeorgeBaker-bo9rd every cell in your body runs on glucose. literally. it's not addiction, it's intelligent design. wasting protein to make glucose, which trashes your kidneys, or pushing your body into ketosis/aka survival mode (trashing your gall bladder and liver) is the opposite of intelligence, or a healthy lifestyle.
Personally, I find on pure carnivore I have loads of energy. Eating omnivore I have loads of energy. But meat plus a small amount of carbs, I was tired all the time.
What do you call "pure" carnivore?? My fresh sardines have carbs, my fresh liver and organ meats have carbs, my eggs have carbs, my ribeye has carbs (learn what is in connective tissue - glucosamine, glycine,...), my raw milk, butter, yogurt have carbs, the seafood I eat has carbs..... I consider myself pure carnivore but get at least 120 grams of carbs a day from these foods.
What many people fail to understand is that while our ancestors did eat carbs, most of it came from freshly killed animals-not from large amounts of modern hybridized fruit. The modern ‘pure’ carnivore diet also doesn’t reflect how our ancestors ate meat because they consumed not just the muscle meat, but also the glycogen, organs, and blood from the animal. Today’s meat is completely drained and processed, which strips it of those key components.
@DomDickens true, true and true. Plus lots of nuances based on which year in history and the location of the people or species of humans. Freezing north, on an island, dry desert area, tropical rainforest,... I feel all diets today have lost sight of seafood and fish.
I have trouble losing the extra weight that I have. It just takes a long time. Just started eating the carnivore method on July 13th, 2024. Lost 26 pounds in 3 months but it is slow going for the other 22 pounds.
While I get that fruits and honey are good for you, but do note the amount of carbohydrates and thus overall calories you consume should still be tied to your activity level. For example I work out 3 to 4 times a week. 2 days of resistance training, 1 day of heavy cardio (400 to 500 calories or so per session), 1 day light cardio (200+ calories average and when I can squeeze it into the week). So I normally consume 100 to 150g carbs daily. Even hitting 200+ g carbs if the cardio or weight days are particularly gruelling. I would still suggest those with far lesser activity levels to control overall consumption, especially if you are heavier and still got plenty of reserves to burn off.
The amount of fruit Paul poses with in photos is quite shocking. The average person doesn't do anywhere near his 2 hrs of surfing every day, which he explains,.. but I don't like his fruit packed promo photos. Too much, and you can't fit in enough animal foods.
It is bad for a lot of people, because we've generationally screwed up our families genetics, guts and health. I ate sugar non-stop til very recently. I never gained weight, and all my normal markers were always within healthy ranges. It's not working any more in my late 30s. If I have too much even healthy sugars in fruits it will mess with my mind and cause brain fog. I think I'll have to lay off all sugars for a while, maybe a year or so to really get this under control and then return them like you did Paul in time. We are all different, but the mainstay between so many modern people(mainly America) is generations have now been eating ultra-processed foods as their main diet for decades now... and with each generation the issues are starting earlier and earlier. Paul basically said a lot of this at the end of the clip. We agree.
Interestingly enough, I have the same issue. After the age of around 32, eating a lot of sugar will screw me up. Up until this age I had no issues. Although I have been working out for years and used to keep strict diets for months, once in a while I would splurge and eat an astronomical amount of sugar but without any issues. I guess you only to start to feel the damage after many years.
What tips do you have for doing an animal based diet but not for weight loss? (I don’t need to lose weight) Thank you for all the amazing information you put out!!
I have to disagree with you on this, Paul. I think the number one mistake people make on an animal-based diet isn’t not eating enough carbs, but actually eating too many carbs and not enough fat. Most people are already used to a carb-heavy diet and are afraid of eating enough fat, but that’s where the problems begin. If you’re not getting enough fat from things like butter or animal fat, your body just won’t function properly. Ancestrally, we didn’t have access to a constant supply of sugar, especially fructose, every day. Sure, we had some carbs, but they mostly came from glycogen (glucose) in freshly killed animals-not from modern hybridized fruit and honey. Eating this many carbs especially fructose just doesn’t align with how we would’ve eaten historically.
If I am not physically active, I don’t each much carbohydrates but I will still have coconut water, honey and blueberries in my protein shake but that’s about it. If I am more physically active at work, I have orange juice, some apples and a little more fruit
Dude, this is 1000% right, I fuck up and don't eat enough carbs sometimes, then I feel like crap - accidentally carnivore. Too much sugar and not enough meat has the same effect, you need a balance, also Kale is bullshit, just wanted to let everyone know.
For myself and many, many other people ANY form of carbohydrates is the #1 mistake. Along with most forms of dairy (some raw cheeses seem ok). Its not optimal but can sometimes I can manage like 1 piece of fruit, but to be honest its usually something I regret. The fruits that seem to have the least issues are organic medjool dates, wild figs - things that are much closer to their wild-types. If I eat the huge amount of fruit, honey and raw milk like you do I feel awful.
Any time I eat any type of carb my blood pressure shoots up the very next day. Yesterday I had some raw honey and a banana and I’m paying for it today.
yes but Paul's advice is general. He oftens mentions how personalised nutrition is. We eat a mostly carnivore diet , with small amounts of fruit and vegetables, and thrive. i know other that cannot tolerate even small amounts of carbs.
@@SophieRobinson-t6c he always says pure carnivore is bad now.. i dont think he knows that nutrition is individual based. It could be genetic based that some can or cant tolerate carbs, and its a different amount for everyone
@@bullmeatt every cell in your body runs on glucose. literally no one is carb intolerant, lol. Some need to avoid certain foods they may not tolerate as well, but we are designed to run on glucose, and as gluconeogenesis is quite toxic and hard on the body, clearly we're designed to have all three macros.
My sweet spot is lots of protein and fats via the carnivore diet but also including about 20 g of carbs a day has made the world of difference if I go above 30 g of carbs a day I start getting negative effects.
Many carnivores suffer from gut dysbiosis and think that this is somehow a GOOD thing lmfao. I was carnivore for the better part of 4 years, and I had great results, however I'm not fully animal-based and have seen even more improvements than I did being fully carnivore.
@@Kinesiology411 yes it is true, lol. Carbs are not essential post workout, research shows that post workout you have enough insulin sensitivity that protein alone will trigger sufficient MPS. Any extra carbohydrate does not have a significant effect on MPS. Citation: “Is carbohydrate needed to further stimulate muscle protein synthesis/hypertrophy following resistance exercise?” Vandré Casagrande Figueiredo et al., 2013. Also having carbs post workout, and/or a carb rich diet impedes fat mobilisation and oxidation, so the idea is optimal for weight loss is simply wrong.
When starting the carnivore diet is it true you won’t switch to a fat-based metabolism and get the full benefits if you are eating fruit? I am 7 days into the carnivore diet and all I can think about is fruit.
From what I have read you are usually best doing a week or 2 on a strict carnivore meat and eggs diet, then slowly adding in other foods for a few days at a time and seeing how your body feels. I usually eat 1lb ground beef (sometimes ground lamb or chicken thighs) along with a fruit and milk smoothie with a scoop of protein powder, and some fruits as snacks when I get hungry. Raspberries and blueberries most commonly. Some kiwi, apples and oranges fairly regularly as well. I'll usually have a daily greek yogurt sometimes with honey as a snack as well.
stick to no carbs for 4 weeks to begin experiencing the full effect. Then you can judge how your body responds. Its clear some people do better on some carbs, Im not one of them, and many others arent either.
If all you're thinking about is fruit....eat some fruit. Don't let carnivore dogma twist the fact that "fat adapted" just means insulin resistant. I did that unbelievable diet of death for over a year, take it from me. Eat the fruit
And if he stuck on carnivore people would say he is dogmatic man, people are free to change, its not because he is an influencer that he has to live like you

ah yes, the 'animal-based diet' consisting of a plate full of potatoes, strawberries, plantain, a giant cup full of orange juice mixed with honey, with a small side of meat. never change paul.
Make your own bread. It's so easy and it actually helps heal the gut. Not commercial bread. This coming from someone that is grossly allergic. Use Italian 00 soft wheat. It's a game changer.
@sonjabaker426 It's the No Knead Bread. 3 cups Italian 00 flour, 1.5 cups warm water, packet or 3 grams yeast, pinch of salt. Let that moose sit for 2-3 hours. Add some more flour to dough consistency. Make bread, rolls, pizza crust, cinnamon rolls, etc. You can even drop half into a Tupper ware and refrigerate. I like mine with rosemary, pepper, and white cheddar cheese. It's practically fool proof. Yt has some great videos on No Knead Bread.
home made sourdough has been a game changer for me. I used to think bread was my worst enemy. Now I've found I tolerate fresh sourdough better than potatoes and many fruits. I don't go overboard, but only doing fruit and honey left me constantly hungry over time. The starch really helped fix that completely. Perhaps it was just getting enough carbs/calories which can be hard to do with just meat and fruit
Yes, the perfect diet is the carnivore diet. But that was "perfect" back then. We are constantly evolving. You have to understand that. That's why I believe Paul is correct. You take what our ancestors was taught and do better. We have more options than them back then. Take what's good and toss what's bad. Also, stop hating for no reason because you think carnivore is the only right diet.
carbs are non-essential ... if youre feeling tired/low energy on a low carb animal diet, its probably because your not eating enough and/or not adapted yet.
Do you even know what that means, lol? I means that during times of famine, the body CAN waste protein to make glucose. Without protein available, your body stays alive, for a while, on ketones. Neither process is healthy long term. Your cells ALL run on glucose. Protein should be used for tissue and organ repair, not to make sugar. Gluconeogenesis is brutal on the kidneys, keto diets become brutal on the gall bladder and liver. NO ONE is "fat adapted" - that's a bro science cult diet myth.
That's a process which creates a lot of ammonia, which then trashes your kidneys. Gluconeogenesis and ketosis, which trashes the gall bladder and liver, are ways to survive famine, not ways in which to thrive.
Not at all, quiet the opposite. Diets high in ammonia (high protein diets) force the body to leech calcium from teeth and bones to excrete the ammonia. That also puts a massive strain on your kidneys
I lost almost 100lbs using honey, juice, cane sugar regularly. I get on average 109g of sugar per day. Best shape ive been. People know their body asks them for sugar, and think they know better than their body aka thousands of years of adaptation/evolution
I drank a full glass of Orange Juice the other day and immediately after I when into A-fib and had to be cardioverted an hour or so later to get me back to sinus rhythm. I think it was the bloating from the OJ that triggered the episode, but it was not fun. Love orange juice but i'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared to have it again for fear of another afib episode.
if you're going from carnivore to animal-based, you'll be heavily insulin resistant and not able to tolerate carbs. you need to slowly transition to this. or you can just have carb, have it wreck you, and then blame it on the carb... not at all what your current diet might have did to you
I have afib also pretty sure OJ didn’t cause your afib episode I know everyone’s case is different but if you truly have afib you know these episodes are random and damn near unpredictable. Do you see your cardiologist regularly? What about electrophysiologist? How long have you had afib? Sleep apnea? Obesity? Hypertension? Elevated stress? PVC? PAC? Several factors play into afib as someone who struggles with it badly and am terrified of afib episodes want to say please don’t fear trying to be healthy. Don’t avoid the things you love. I’m not sure how old you are but I just turned 30 I’m getting PFA ablation on Wednesday. The animal based diet has helped me so much I’ve lost damn near 80 pounds in the last 15 months. Again I know everyone is different I don’t want you to think I’m attacking you more so showing you that you’re not alone and want to encourage you do enjoy you’re OJ if it’s truly happening every time them yea leave it alone but you won’t know until you try. I was the same way about chocolate for awhile but just said forget it and enjoy it here and there if afib is gonna happen it’s gonna happen I wish you the best
Nope. Did blood work in the hospital, all electrolytes were in the normal range. And not heart issues. I’ve had several monitors, stress echo tests and just recently had a CT scan. All checked out normal. My EP and cardiologist both agree it has to do with vagal stimulation. Even the most healthy athletes in their 20s and 30s have bouts of afib. It’s the most common type of arrhythmia with no underlining issues. It just sucks to feel and you wouldn’t want to stay in it indefinitely, although plenty of older folks do with no issues. Most don’t even feel it or even know they’re in it.
I don't get it, for years we have been told not to drink "fruit juices" because of the sugar content, eat fruit instead because of the fiber. I did Keto for quite a while and lost 55 lbs. I tried carnivore and had to quit in less than two weeks because it plugged me up completely. Another problem I have is my wife, she has no gall bladder and if she eats, even very little fat, she gets the runs so bad. It's hard to maintain two different diets in one house.
Nutrition science is filled with misinformation and dogma. Sugar ain't bad homie. How could sugar be good in a fruit, but bad in fruit juice? "A poison is a poison no matter where the fuck it is" -durian rider
Pasteurized, store bought juices are basically junk. Fresh juice, esp from ripe oranges, is loaded with minerals and nutrients. Eating fruit is good too, but the research done on the benefits of oj on diabetics speaks volumes. A word of warning about keto and carni; both have you running on high cortisol and adrenaline, as they are perceived as slow starvation states. It's not a great idea to keep on those diets long term.
@@Kinesiology411 Hey someone else who gets it! Lol. Fair warning about becoming insulin resistant as well. @ZackRamsey14 I've been commenting and trying to help people to avoid these backwards cult diets for so long, it's nice to see someone else doing the same thing, lol. @@JessieHaycraft there's nothing inherently more "fattening" about juice vs whole fruit, just be careful that the energy received from it will hit you very fast
@@JessieHaycraft Sugar is a nutrient just like fat, arguably more preferential so there's no need to fear natural sugar in fruit juice especially considering the vitamin and mineral content. Sometimes the lack of fiber and pure nature of it can be too much for people's metabolism or digestion at first so you'd be wise to introduce slowly. Personally I utilize it but have found two issues; it can compromise protein intake throughout the day, it makes it hard to digest protein and fat at the same time (ime) resulting in not getting enough. This goes hand in hand with the second point that it can compromise digestion of meat and fats. It can actually help digest starch. So I find it's a weird balancing act but the more I increase my metabolic rate, I find I can combine these often without issue (fat, starch, sugar, protein) but I believe it's valuable to note the potential downsides. Despite issues with digestion, it can often be a miracle for people with gut issues who can't tolerate whole fruits or vegetables because of the fiber. So it's an individual approach, but there's no reason fruit juice is inherently more toxic than what a lot of keto diets allow like hot dogs, bacon, plant oils, fake cheese who cares, nuts and nut butters, deli meats, almond flours etc ... fruit juice is more health promoting than all of these
Moderation is the key to eating fruit. It is a whole, natural food but sugar is still sugar so if weight loss is the goal or healing/preventing diabetes you may want to chill on the fruit for some time. Remember there are no essential carbohydrates, just fats and proteins.
Let me explain to you what "essential" versus non means in the world of nutrition. It does not mean we do not need them. It means that in times of famine we CAN make glucose out of protein. It's a process which uses a lot of energy and water, yielding little glucose and a lot of ammonia, which trashes the kidneys. That's a survival mode, a backup plan when the carbs we thrive on are not available. In the absence of protein AND carbs, ketosis is next, but that puts a heavy burden on the gall bladder and liver. Eating all three macros regularly, from fresh, real food, in the right proportions for YOU is how you thrive.
I agree with Paul about Honey and homemade squeezed orange juice with the pulp in moderation which are both good. ‘But’ he does ‘not’ eat small Sardines in spring water and he does ‘not’ eat Alaskan wild caught Sockeye Salmon which I think is hypocritical.
The problem with honey is that you never know if you buy honey mixed with cheap industry sirup or real honey. Even your local bea keeper or super expensive honey is not a guarantee for real honey.
Can someone explain the Eskimos myth... It was thought that they had a low rate of cardiovascular diseases, but it turned out to be a myth, and in reality, they have poor cardiovascular health due to their diet rich in fats and animal products and lacking in vegetables... It was even noted that switching to a Western diet improved their condition, given how unhealthy their diet was... I was thinking of starting an animal-based diet, but after reading this, I took a step back.
I love Saladino, but he's wrong on this one: i) Apparently, he's never heard of *non-enzymatic glycation* of proteins in the body, which happens when blood sugar is high (glucose spikes). The protein in your body gets covalently bonded to that blood sugar, then the immune system sees this glycated protein, and ATTACKS it (because it "looks" foreign). When the cells that produce insulin get glycated, they get attacked by the immune system. Low & behold, you're now a type-1 diabetic. ii) Also, just because seed oils are indeed bad for us, doesn't mean that sugar is good for us. In the microbiome, fungus (like albicans) is feed by SUGAR (and so are all the bad bacteria). iii) "Hundreds of compounds in honey", are there other ways to accomplish the same thing w/o having to take this sugar-filled product?? iv) "Proof... fruit juice improves endothelial function", compared to what? Motor oil? Yeah, show me your "proof".

I think Paul is doing great work for healthy eating and living and do not think he is wrong about carbs. I do however think that the right carbohydrate intake varies greatly from person to person depending on factors such as age, activity level, hormone levels and genetics. What works for Paul in his early 40s does not work for me in my mid 60s even though I agree with the principals he advocates. I get the best results with 30 to 50 grams of carbs per day with a beef and eggs diet and consistent weight training.
Spot on. Let's see Paul change is views on carbs when he gets older and slows down.
Here are my numbers:
* Weight: Down 30 pounds
* Blood Pressure: Improved from 139/90 to 123/73
* Glucose Levels: Dropped from 123 mg/dL to 102 mg/dL
* Ketones: Now at 3.0 mmol/L
* GKI (Glucose Ketone Index): 1.8
This combination has truly transformed my health and my life!

@ ketosis is state where your body produce ketone and to reach this state naturally the best way is to stop eating during a small period of time like our ancestors did when they were hunting, they didn't get access to food all the time

While I agree wih Paul that we need not fear whole food carbs, ancestrally speaking we never had access to modern large sweet fruits and honey on a daily basis.
True. And in many areas "ancestrally" they never had access to meat or animals, especially slaves in Egypt for example.
how do we know so many details about the ''ancestral'' way of living?
@DrAJ_LatinAmerica When referring to ancient Egypt that was only a few thousand years ago. So that civilization cannot be considered "ancestral". By that time they already were able to cultivate grains and other vegetation along with raising livestock. I would also imagine that the geography was different in that region compared to what it is today. Yes there probably was fruit and honey but again they would not be something in abundance like today

This is an interesting response, but I’m inclined to agree. Once food becomes an addiction, it’s almost impossible to use moderation.

I think those palpitations, which I've had too, are Magnesium deficiency-related.
Yes, the addition of carbs can ironically make you hungrier!

When should I eat fruit? Before or after eating meat??? Or just in the morning??
have it after your protein and fat, minimizes a sharp rise in blood sugar. Have some after each meal if you're active or notice a lack of energy.

This has been the best diet of my life it’s my lifestyle now I’ll never go back 🔥I love it I feel so amazing I’ve been watching like this for over a year nkwn
ah yes, the 'animal-based diet' consisting of a plate full of potatoes, strawberries, plantain, a giant cup full of orange juice mixed with honey, with a small side of meat. never change paul.
He eats potatoes??
Keep it up Paul! This is cutting edge and we need a leader
Organic Cold Pressed Juices. This Brand called Evolution is perfect for a quick get up
The title is very misleading you aren’t going to get carbs from animal based maybe a minuscule amount from eggs
He really means not a plant based diet
Make your own bread. It's so easy and it actually helps heal the gut. Not commercial bread. This coming from someone that is grossly allergic. Use Italian 00 soft wheat. It's a game changer.
Can you share your bread recipe?
@sonjabaker426 It's the No Knead Bread. 3 cups Italian 00 flour, 1.5 cups warm water, packet or 3 grams yeast, pinch of salt. Let that moose sit for 2-3 hours. Add some more flour to dough consistency. Make bread, rolls, pizza crust, cinnamon rolls, etc. You can even drop half into a Tupper ware and refrigerate. I like mine with rosemary, pepper, and white cheddar cheese. It's practically fool proof. Yt has some great videos on No Knead Bread.

@@quantumcat7191thanks so much!😊
home made sourdough has been a game changer for me.
@@fasa34 nothing is better than carnivore
Thank you for explaining this so clearly!
I truly appreciate it, Paul 👌
carbs are non-essential ... if youre feeling tired/low energy on a low carb animal diet, its probably because your not eating enough and/or not adapted yet.
We all get carbohydrates through gluconeogenesis.
This is a very toxic process to the body, not sure what angle you're coming at with it here lol
That's a process which creates a lot of ammonia, which then trashes your kidneys. Gluconeogenesis and ketosis, which trashes the gall bladder and liver, are ways to survive famine, not ways in which to thrive.
Humans also ate seeds, tubers and grains 100,000 years ago!
yeah likely when they were starving and they didnt have any animals to harvest. Thats not evidence that its part of our natural diet.
I doubt they ate much grains 100,000 years ago, see the history of grains
very small amounts, their wild-types looked nothing like what we consume today, and they were likely starvation foods.
mama paul
How do.these idiots calculate 100,000 of years?
I love honey. Until bill gates genetically modified bees and honey I think I’ll keep consuming it!
I heard that a carnivore diet can heal teeth ans bones (cavaties or cracks), is that true?

OJ is very high in potassium. It's possible your obvious heart issue makes sodium/potassium balance a delicate dance for you.
This alone should dismantle the keto/carni dogma but people are so misguided they think keto/carni makes you more insulin sensitive. At this point, if you are selling that mindset, it's a full stop gank. Don't believe another word that comes after that sentiment lol
@ZackRamsey14 I've been commenting and trying to help people to avoid these backwards cult diets for so long, it's nice to see someone else doing the same thing, lol. I've been training and feeding athletes and regular clients for decades and I've never seen this level of brainwashing en masse. I mean, the carb phobia cycles in and out over and over but it was never this widespread. They're all in for a very unpleasant surprise.

I'm just worried if I start drinking juice I will start gaining weight because my metabolism is a real bad
But I do eat three servings of blueberries strawberries and raspberries with three servings of honey
@@JessieHaycraft there's nothing inherently more "fattening" about juice vs whole fruit, just be careful that the energy received from it will hit you very fast
@@ZackRamsey14 because I always thought that juice has no fiber and it's just sugar water 😅
So it's an individual approach, but there's no reason fruit juice is inherently more toxic than what a lot of keto diets allow like hot dogs, bacon, plant oils, fake cheese who cares, nuts and nut butters, deli meats, almond flours etc ... fruit juice is more health promoting than all of these
@@ZackRamsey14 thanks for the info bro..u been studying 😁
It really annoys me when people act like a banana or an apple is horrible for you. Come on
I disagree with the fruit juice because American orange juice is garbage, ocean spray sweet garbage too
He always means freshly made juice, not store bought junk.
The problem with honey is that you never know if you buy honey mixed with cheap industry sirup or real honey. Even your local bea keeper or super expensive honey is not a guarantee for real honey.
But locally from beekeepers, never from a store.
Remember who is ruling the world…maybe you are not a believer..but the answer is clear who rules the world
hELLO from canary island...instead of carbohydrates...maybe they not doing enough animal fat or addapted to animal fat...i consider

I love Saladino, but he's wrong on this one:
i) Apparently, he's never heard of *non-enzymatic glycation* of proteins in the body, which happens when blood sugar is high (glucose spikes).
Learn something about the Randle cycle...
Which is overcome by eating enough carbs. See the research of Dr Ray Peat on this.

Craig Sinclair is a vegan and he is definitely thriving and turning back the clock.
He's mostly running on adrenaline. He skips meals, takes pills, and eats a very, very restrictive diet so he can not exercise, lol. It's clear now that Harvard is not the hub of intellect everyone thought it was, lol.
@Kinesiology411 Incorrect. Craig Sinclair exercises 4 times a week doing HIIT (sprints) for 15 minutes each session.
And he doesn't skip meals. So what's so bad about skipping meals anyway? Giving the digestion a rest does one good.
@glennrobinson7193 I literally just read an interview and HE SAID he doesn't exercise, lol. He also described his daily intake and it's less than what high school girls on diets eat, lol. So as I said...
He skips meals, which is not good. We fast for at least 8 hours, closer to 10-12 as it is, and you xul diet nutters are just off the rails with starvation approaches. As someone training and feeding athletes and regular clients for decades, it's just surreal, watching eating disorders become the new normal, lol. Good luck with that.
