  • Buying My Dream Ferrari - Documentary
The Ferrari 308 GTS is a V8 mid-engined, two-seater sports cars manufactured by the Italian company Ferrari from 1975 to 1985.
During the summer of 2019 I filmed Mike, a passionate car lover and owner of his dream car the Ferrari 308 GTS.
In this short documentary we talk to him about what it's like to own this iconic car and listen to his stories and experiences.
If you are interested in my work or having a film made of your car please get in touch.

I 100% agree, there is no electric replacement for how these 8’s make you feel, let alone how the timeless design consumes you. Looks like you have a lovely example too! All the best

I think that in the entire history of Ferrari, if you had to pick one car to call the most iconic Ferrari model ever built, it has to be the 308. I own a 92 348 which I love but when I see a 308 I always think damn, that car is so beautiful from every angle.

The 308 was the first Ferrari I ever laid eyes on in '79 or '80 I think and my jaw dropped. Later on I would ask my Dad to drive by the dealership so I can show him how amazing the car looks. To this day I always thought the 308 is one of the top 5 most beautiful Ferrari ever penned by Pininfarina. It's lines are just amazingly beautiful and the size is just right. There isn't an angle that doesn't look good on this car. It's never a very fast car but it doesn't matter at all. To own one is a blessing especially now when it's getting older and older. And my favourite is still the QV 308 GTS as shown here.

  • @christschool

I wouldn't have added the Scuderia shields to the car. That's not original and breaks the beautiful lines and curves.

Also one of my dream cars. I’ve had a Lotus Elise and Porsche Cayman. Both are wonderful cars. My current Audi TTS is amazing and a fair bit quicker thank the 308... but I would trade all of them for a 308. It’s the first car I dreamed of having, right from Magnum PI days. Incredible car. The spec you have in this video is, for me, the perfect spec.

Don't get me wrong its my dream car too, mainly because of Magnum PI, but that fuel injection inside it, is its weakness and my disappointment. It always keep spraying fuel at an awkward angle in the intake manifold instead of injecting at the proper angle and the right moment. Anyways it's a very nice car you have, wished one day I could afford one. For me when I was a kid it was the most beautiful 'sports car' that was available, was my dream. If one day I will own one, I will install a standalone ECU, that engine has potential for more than 350HP!

Well said 👍🏻 I understand that electric cars is the inevitable future of cars & transportation in general, but as this gentleman stated, an electric car will never ever give you the emotions, feelings and memories a naturally aspirated car will give you. And it's not so much about going crazy fast, we know electric cars are faster than petrol powered cars, it's about the sound, the smells, the feeling and the connection of the driver and the engine and the road. Thanks for the video, truly a beautiful car.

4:00 You have the Quattrovalve, the V8 Ferrari noise is at its full beautiful symphony. Those valves make a difference. You can't get that noise from the earlier 308's. As an example, during the filming of the American movie "Against All Odds" in the early 1980's, the 308GTSi engine noise was dubbed over with a Lamborghini Countach because quite simply, it did not product the noise that was exciting for a Ferrari scene.

Nice editing on this video. Your 308 is referred to as a "Targa", but GTS means Gran Turismo Spyder, released in 1977 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. I've driven the 328 and in some ways, prefer the 308, because it was the first ascendent from its predecessor, the "Dino". You look at at many cars today, and see the the "Dino", styling cues. You even see it in the new Ferrari Roma in 2020.

He may have meant that the road cars most people think of when they think of a Ferrari are the V-8 models. That could be true because they sold the most. The 308 could still be the most recognizable Ferrari of all time for the general public. Car enthusiasts and Ferrari purists know that Enzo Ferrari loved the V-12s. When asked about V-8s versus V-12s, Enzo replied "a Ferrari is a 12 cylinder car."

Great car. I hired an A Reg 308QV GTS for a weekend in the late 90s. Huge fun and still looks beautiful today.

Great video... we must have been brought up in the same era sharing a mutual love for this car. It's nice to make our dreams become reality.
I've recently turned 50, sold a business, retired and moved to Cornwall... literally a 5 minute walk from a very quiet cove. On my small acreage is a large but rather well hidden and well secured barn... a barn that houses 32 cars that I've collected over the last 30 years. There's fast Fords from the 80's, MG's from the 60's and 80's... a couple of Jaguars, Porsche, a McLaren 12C, a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Pontiac Trans Am (think Knightrider) a Delorean and a very famous Bond car - in red, LHD from Belgium, and a complete mess... currently being restored and converted to RHD. There are also 4 Ferrari... An F355 GTB manual, a California T, an F488 GTB remapped and pushing 750BHP and finally - you guessed it, a 308 GTS QV. And out of all the cars I own, although it isn't the newest, the fastest, the best handing or the most reliable... the one that gives me the most pleasure and smiles per mile is the one that I can't help but hear the theme tune to a very famous 80's TV show about a Moustache, every time I drive it.

@@LukeWhatley-Bigg thank you Luke and yes, we are of the same mind in this regard. My work background is RAF and then the legal profession... and it is from both of these I have retired. But I have also been a writer for a few years, and now I write & produce (when I can be bothered lol) in the entertainment business. My long term girlfriend is younger than me and very much of the internet, Instagram and selfie age... and for a couple of years she has been pushing me to start a TH-cam channel not really my thing tbh) very much in the vein of Harry's Garage - which I love. Already we have probably 100 hours of footage documenting some of the cars and their restoration work. I have a full time mechanic/body work guy working for me and my 70 X 140 barn has a vehicle lift and spray booth. Anyway after much pressure from my girl and now that my collection is all in one place finally, I've decided to do exactly what you suggested starting next spring. I'm enjoying early retirement and have lots of... hobbies and am reluctant to give this project all the time it would need to do it by myself. However... I love your videos and style and think it would mesh well with mine so when the time is right, I will definitely contact you and see what we can come up with. Thank you.
