I noticed that too. Mainly the lack of music, and me and many others think that the unusual theme of the episode represents Gangle's repressed emotions, since TADC 4 was definitely centered around her
@@frankkennedy6388Jax did have moments of being terrified during the ep. Not sure if it was because of working at Spudsy’s (which I think is the name of the spud based food court eatery Sue worked at in the tv show The Middle) or if it was because of how Gangle was acting towards him, seeing the Gloink Queen, getting grabbed by the hands, the training video, not getting to be himself, facing the consequences of his actions.
Well, another thing that could add onto this is the training video scene. If Jax used to work in a fast food establishment in the past, he might've a bad or traumatising experience during his training, which is why he seems traumatised when seeing Gangle's training video.
That theory made no sense anyway. Like, how is he a part of the game when he literally went through the same thing as everyone else, which was said in the first episode?? And if he WAS a part of the game as an NPC, then Caine would've got rid of him a long time ago because NPCs can't live in the circus; we've all seen it happen with Gummigoo.
@Muddy-Goldfish72I think that theory came from the fact that he hasn’t shown what happens when he holds his breath, that perhaps nothing happens since he’s not a player. But that theory has a lot of holes like you said.
Jax has aways been the one who starts the plot of the episodes with his actions, the truck chase in ep 2 and throwing Gangle's mask on the scary door in episode 3, but here he's stuck on a adventure that has rules and consequences if he walks out of line. After the "training" he stopped trying to mess with people and was just constantly looking at the clock wanting it to end, he was probably traumatized by what happened there
Bro was literally too tired to be mean, so he defaulted to persona that requires no effort. I don't know would I call that his actual persona if he was literally too tired to act in any different way.
It means he was just reverted to being a tired casual persona that you would see on casual people who were just tired or didn't like what they're doing but decided to just go with it
A lot of people forget that Jax is 22 so he probably arrived when he was about 15-19. He didn't have a chance to grow up. He could have had a job but his age might explain his personality
If Jax would act a bit more normal and dropped his jerkish persona, then maybe he could try to get along with the rest of the gang, I especially love that he actually has a normal conversation with some of the other characters like Pomni and Zooble. Plus it's cute that he's weirded out because of the way Gangle acts and that he's being relatable in this episode.😊💕
Pretty sure that him being a jerk is a coping mechanism for being trapped here. The moment he gets a taste of reality where theirs consequences for his actions he just deflates because the little bit of power he had was ripped away from him. If he can’t bully then he’s just depressed.
My head canon or theory I guess is that Jax probably worked a very repetitive job (maybe like a desk job?) so the crazy cartoon adventures are a kind of escapism for him which is why he enjoys them more than the rest of the cast.
Or whorse if some employes bullied him to the point of wishing to literally escape from his miserable life, ending in the circus and finally getting some joy..well then this episode
I think the episode also hints that Ragatha might on a negative change arc; one where she finally snaps and is actually worse then Jax, possibly inspiring him to change his tone.
Yeah Gangle mentioning it hard to tell when Ragatha's being genuine hit a whole light bulb moment for me. Her mentioning she likes Gangle pretty much at her worst (said she liked Gangle better sad) is a red flag. Jax openly says mean or condescending things but probably keeps anything nice he might want to say inside while Ragatha's the opposite perhaps? She only says nice or encouraging things outside while the crueler things stay on the inside.
You know this makes me think of Kafmo. He once accused Ragatha of fake laughing at his jokes. What if he is one of the few who's seen Ragatha at her worst.
I empathized with Jax in this episode. I’m neurodivergent, I like to do a lot of weird things, and I’ve worked in customer service for 11 years now. The utter mundanity of the work, the way it sucks out your soul and drains the love of life from your heart is maddening. I often find myself staring at the clock, begging it to move faster. I was surprised when Jax asked Pomni how she was doing, but I also often start conversations with my coworkers in the same manner, especially when I’m exhausted. I thought I would relate to Gangle the most, but I was really surprised at how much Jax reminded me of myself.
I honestly think this episode reminds us all very well that each of these characters was once a full bodied human with a real life, that in their canon they aren’t cartoons, that in their minds they still long for regular life, even the ones who try to suppress it.
It could be interesting if Jax does warm up like you predict. Although whether or not that will happen depends a lot on whether or not Gooseworx was bluffing when they said Jax is going to get worse over the show.
@@CollagenEaterwhat if by him becoming "worse" they were meaning that he would drop the jerk persona and just end up in some sort of numb depression since everybody is used to his antics. He's probably using fake confidence and being mean as a coping mechanism to feel like he has some sort of power in the circus, but once everybody catches on to that he's left with nothing.
Caine: how about we make a fun adventure! Maybe it’ll help you all get along! The adventure: modern phycological torture to everyone and everything with an attitude
Okay, but this episode is interesting in many different ways. I love how it talks about how we as humans mask our emotions and feelings when we are around other people to make it seem like we're okay, or to blend in with the rest of society because of the fear of being ostracized if we act or behave differently from what is considered "normal". Even Gangle wonders if Ragatha is being genuine sometimes, or if it's all just for show. Jax even lets his own guard down and puts his mischevious persona aside, even if for a brief moment, to slightly open up to Pomni. This series is so good, and I hope to see more of each character's true real-world personalities be revealed.
Fr this is what I have been trying to say! Like he litterly is just a complex character and some people have a hard time comprehending complex characters like he’s so hated but you have gotta understand he isn’t a villain or monster. Everyone is stressed cause there are trapped in a circus and struggling each with different things and they all have different ways of coping with it. I’m not trying to justify Jax’s behavior but I’m trying to help people read more into his character before they rant about how much they hate him 😭
It is kind of like how Hawkeye acts in the Tv show MASH. He can be a prankster jerk but he also cares about people and is a great surgeon. He stuck somewhere he does not want to be, but has to be due to being drafted in to the Korean War to be a surgeon at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. Sydney the Psychologist says this about Hawkeye “….anger turned sideways is Hawkeye.” Hawkeye I think says this to Sydney “If I don’t laugh I might cry” or something like that. Jax is trying to make himself laugh by being a jerk prankster so he does not cry. Jax turns his anger sideways but also vents his frustrations like Hawkeye does. Like Hawkeye Jax can be terrified by people and by peoples actions.
I’m also a huge fan of Jaxs’ attempt at a normal interaction with Pomni. In general, I was really impressed with how they handled Pomni in this episode. I feel like she had the least amount of presence out of every episode so far, yet, like everyone else, all the roles she played were wonderful. If this show didn’t follow its mission of letting the characters share the spotlight, I feel like the entire episode just would’ve been about Pomni trying to reconnect with Gummigoo while attempting to avoid Gangle’s “wrath”, then ending with her either letting him go or restoring his memory. But that’s not how this show rolls. Pomni’s interactions with Gummigoo were short and bittersweet, she was nice to Gangle without making “Pomni’s Therapy Session” cliché (We can thank Pomni for acknowledging that, as well as Gangle for cutting it short), and she brought her unique brand of down-to-earth laughs like always. Speaking of which, that “Unicorn Horn” bit in the beginning is a reference to a non-canon Digital Circus comic Gooseworx made. It was either before or after the pilot released. Can’t remember.
I love the part where he walks out and we see his smile facade fall. He keeps up a "don't care" persona but here we can really see that his smile he puts on is fake.
This is definitely shaping up to be a historic moment. While it's still unlikely for him to maintain a normal personality throughout the show, it would certainly be interesting to see how it plays out with the other characters.
That is not the case at all?? He was irritated because he was on an adventure where his actions actually had consequences and he couldn't make fun of Gangle because she wasn't sad. I thought that was obvious...
As someone who worked in food for now 8 years, I will say that the line of Jax saying “Does this count as a Bus?” Is something you would only say if you’ve worked in a restaurant before.
I guess it’s sort of like a dream for Jax, he can do whatever he wants but the moment he works at a restaurant is when he comes to what he hates, and when the dreams begin he’s at peace
What i noticed in the episode is that they remember bits of their life like when Gangle says "I was a general manger in my real life" of smt like that. And Ragitha says she misses her horses. I just figured all they remembered was that they put on a headset and got transported to a weird circus thing.
I loved this episode, and it's not just seeing how Gangel masks, but how everyone (but Pomni) does. Jax's masks with a playful persona to cover how much he hates himself and everything; Gangle with how much she's hurting and how powerless she feels; Ragatha with how much of a dick she is and how she wants everyone to like her, and Zooble with how much she cares about everyone.
I like how the way Pomni responded to him reinforces what the others think of him. She was about to open up and answer honestly, but then she realized *who* she was talking to and clammed up, giving him a basic "I'm fine" response.
All these episodes have been hinting a character development on Jax and I can't wait to see his own episode, I just know it's gonna be the best probably
I think this episode did well on showing the other sides of the other characters. That Jax isnt really as mean as he tries to be, that Ragatha isnt really as nice like what she usually is, and that Gangle masks her emotions like her digital avatar. Its a literal "dont judge a book by its cover."
I do hope we get a jax centered episode in the future, maybe some hints to his backstory, an in depth look onto his character, some development and why he acts the way he does. I find his character quite interesting after this episode, so I'm curious to see what the writers do with him from here
Since episode three, there’s always been a friendship bonding moment with all of the cast. Episode 3- kinged and Pomni, episode 4- gangle and zooble, maybe episode five will be a bonding moment with Jax and ragatha. I’d like you said in this video come true and jax becomes a good person then it could happen I guess
I feel like if Jax keeps going through boring and non-violent adventures like these, he might actually abstract because he seemed genuinely frustrated in this episode.
I doubt Jax worked at a fast food restaurant before entering the circus. The reason is because gangle worked at one before she entered the circus so it really wouldn’t make sense for both of them to have this character feature
If Jax does have a character arc, that would be great, but wasn't it already confirmed by the creator when people complained about his rudeness in episode two that he was just going to get worse as the series went on?
I loved Jax in this episode, his facial expressions were hilarious but Am I the only one who got the raggedy Ann reference from Ragatha? Where she says “I’m hurt enough, packages Landing on my head, tea parties, dancing lessons”
I feel like he will eventually just drop the act entirely. Maybe this episode made him truly realise how the others are just like him and he will drop the act, actually wanting to try. Or he will just get too tired and drop his own mask persay. I believe that then the whole team will finally get together. I think Pomni will help him get through it too as she has helped the others in the other episodes. I cant wait for the next episode!
Jax has all the violence, weaponry and victims he want. There’s little to no consequences for his behavior and he can do whatever he wants.. but he’s bored. He probably realizes that even if he does manage to leave, he’ll never have the same freedom. What is he supposed to do in the real world?
Since episode 5 will be around ragatha who have a chance of not being genuineness with her kindness it could be a slip off the table as ragatha may throw out her true emotions as maybe a potential next jax person since jax in episode 6 hopefully will have his genuine normal personality shown to everyone.or maybe jax could slightly change in episode 5 due to seeing ragatha finally snapping which may link with how he may potentially show his genuine normal personality with the other circus members...it will be interesting. Now that I think abt it I notice what would have been a pattern. In episode 1, the pilot, we see a hint to how cruel jax is...which leads to episode 2 showing jax brutality personality....and we get a hint abt kinger remembering stuff well I the dark since he mentioned abt how he remembered when ragatha first joined the circus, he said this whole having his head in a tin bucket, but unfortunately this is where the pattern ends from.the pilot since we had no hint of gangle personality or anything abt her in ep 3. But we do see in episode 4 ragatha true course with her under the influence of the stupid sauce, or basically drunk, which leads to episode 5...then ofc at the top of the comment was the fact it could hint within that episode jax true true personality as we also kinds got a glimpse of it in episode 4 and I wonder what his reaction would be to ragatha true emotions being let out in episode 5
Something i noticed about Jax which may be a lore drop was his license plate. It had 0001 on it which may hint at him being the first one in the Circus
I heard a theory that Jax breaking Gangles mask all the time is on purpose (usually). Because he knows that gangles happy mask isnt her true self and that its healthy to hate things and be frustrated. Also my own theory is that when gangle was alone near the end before she left spudsys, I think she was Abstracting. Or was going to.

I noticed that too. Mainly the lack of music, and me and many others think that the unusual theme of the episode represents Gangle's repressed emotions, since TADC 4 was definitely centered around her
I like that it had a mix of the vibes that were in episode 1 and 2.
TRUE TRUE
dude hes being locked to a chair, ibv thats scary
A HUNDRED AMD NINTY SIX LIKES!? HOLY *[REDACTED]* !
Nah that training video scene was lwk horrifying
HOLY *[REDACTED]* ! WHY IS THIS SO POPULAR!?
I was really surprised and confused about this scene. And that does defeat the theory that he is part of the game. And I like that.
@ One thing I feel like keeps that theory a thing is the fact that he talk to the fourth wall. But yeah there some holes to this.
@Muddy-Goldfish72 ok yeah that concludes that this theory is completely false
Except gummigoo and Caine are affected similarly to Jax.
It’s a moment of HISTORY🤧
He acts so inmature cause he couldnt age properly, makes sence now that you mentioned it
Oh , they age in the circus ? I was under the assumption that Jax got in at 22, not *turn* 22..thats really interesting
@@AZelene425 i mean even if they don't physical age since they can never get old and die they would still mentally age with time passing
Bro when I saw this scene when I watched the episode I let an audible "wait what?"
Heyyyy 😂❤
@Fizzie-Fizzarolli-FizzieFrog Oh hi!🤩
@@rainbowtoyfunrandomess1982 i see u basiclly everywhere xD
@Fizzie-Fizzarolli-FizzieFrog Oh really?😅
Oooo that makes sense... imagine if he was a teacher 😭
Pomni when falling into the whole I think sees a different side of Ragatha.
You know this makes me think of Kafmo. He once accused Ragatha of fake laughing at his jokes. What if he is one of the few who's seen Ragatha at her worst.
@@TTastic-pb5nt maybe that contributed to Kaufmo's abstraction? because he thought nobody in the circus is authentic or genuinely cares? Interesting!
What happened to their bodies are they in a comma, did they die?
“THIS IS A MOMENT IN HISTORY!! TAKE A PICTURE!! 📸”
I swear Jax in this episode looks like he’s absolutely done with everyone and everything………. 💀💀💀
I love how gangle hints at the fact she wants to become a manga artist and it’s proven at the end when zooble mentions her drawings
It could be interesting if Jax does warm up like you predict. Although whether or not that will happen depends a lot on whether or not Gooseworx was bluffing when they said Jax is going to get worse over the show.
I mean worse could mean a bunch of stuff, mentally, socially, physically, or character wise
He does seem afraid when Gangle calls upper management
I love when Ragatha was under the stupidity sauce, and Gangle asked where Pomni was, Ragatha said she was busy crushing on Gummy-Goo lol.
NO I LOVED JAX'S MISCHIEVOUS PERSONALITY 😭😭😭
REAL
True, but this doesn’t seem good for his mental health. But we’ll have to wait for future episodes to see.
I didnt feel good
BECAUSE I WAS ENJOYING EVERY SECOND HE WAS SUFERING 😈
In the movie Idiocracy the main character gets the name Not Sure. Jax name tag with the words I Don’t Care reminds me of that.
This is definitely shaping up to be a historic moment. While it's still unlikely for him to maintain a normal personality throughout the show, it would certainly be interesting to see how it plays out with the other characters.
Jax has always been the most relatable
Frick yes! Bc when I saw Jax acting irritated over the job and gangle being this, I had a hutch that Jax in the real world worked at a fast food!
I don't think that means he was a fast food worker in the past, but sure
That is not the case at all?? He was irritated because he was on an adventure where his actions actually had consequences and he couldn't make fun of Gangle because she wasn't sad. I thought that was obvious...
@Muddy-Goldfish72why can’t it be both?
@@JennyShull real.
As someone who worked in food for now 8 years, I will say that the line of Jax saying “Does this count as a Bus?” Is something you would only say if you’ve worked in a restaurant before.
I just saw the episode last night and it was hysterically relatable I felt really bad for Jax especially during the “Training video scene.” 🤣🤣🤣
Well yeah Pomni’s the most rational and also the person i imagine people would go to usually is drunk on the floor-
I guess it’s sort of like a dream for Jax, he can do whatever he wants but the moment he works at a restaurant is when he comes to what he hates, and when the dreams begin he’s at peace
The fact that a character having a normal conversation is a bombshell is crazy.
"When he was alive" he is alive😂
He’s too used to posting Hazbin/Helluva shorts 💀
At this point he might as well be in hell
@igottakirbranger8995ikr
He's not. Cartoon characters aren't living things.
@Muddy-Goldfish72 he’s talking about in the universe of the show 🤦
Jax has seen some crap with that training tape
What i noticed in the episode is that they remember bits of their life like when Gangle says "I was a general manger in my real life" of smt like that. And Ragitha says she misses her horses. I just figured all they remembered was that they put on a headset and got transported to a weird circus thing.
the only thing they don’t remember is their names
Are u sure? Being stuck there for so long they probably forgot what they were like in real life.
I feel like Jax turning out to NOT be a villain would be a great subversion of expectation and also give him more depth.
Because he was out of energy to be a jerk after that TV thingy 😂
The constant look at the clock is very relatable. I work at retail and I’m pretty sure I’ve been checking the clock like 20 times every single day
I like how the way Pomni responded to him reinforces what the others think of him. She was about to open up and answer honestly, but then she realized *who* she was talking to and clammed up, giving him a basic "I'm fine" response.
This channel BEAUTIFULLY explained my thoughts on this scene. THANK YOU🙏🏻
I swear I was so happy when we got more information about Jax’s character and his whole story itself.
All these episodes have been hinting a character development on Jax and I can't wait to see his own episode, I just know it's gonna be the best probably
The ditails you can catch are crazy
You also explain everything really good♥️
AAAAA I LOVE JAX SO MUCH IM SO EXCITED FOR EPISODE 6
Jax actually becoming friendly with the rest of the cast is a personal fantasy we have in common i guess
Finally, he’s being nice
I think this episode did well on showing the other sides of the other characters. That Jax isnt really as mean as he tries to be, that Ragatha isnt really as nice like what she usually is, and that Gangle masks her emotions like her digital avatar. Its a literal "dont judge a book by its cover."
OMG- HE GOT REPLACED!😨
I do hope we get a jax centered episode in the future, maybe some hints to his backstory, an in depth look onto his character, some development and why he acts the way he does. I find his character quite interesting after this episode, so I'm curious to see what the writers do with him from here
Jax room has not been shown yet, but I do not think Gangle, Kinger and Ragatha’s rooms have been shown yet.
I knew he wasn’t completely bad! I’ve been waiting to see a nicer side of him
I appreciated the more accurate depiction of what a manic episode can look like. I think Gangle is my new favorite.
Honestly I thought that Gangle was gonna abstract
Honistly same I think she would've if Pomni wasn't there
Since episode three, there’s always been a friendship bonding moment with all of the cast. Episode 3- kinged and Pomni, episode 4- gangle and zooble, maybe episode five will be a bonding moment with Jax and ragatha. I’d like you said in this video come true and jax becomes a good person then it could happen I guess
Jax is the best. I want to see more of him.
Bro got character development fr
this whole episode literally got me so tripped up
I feel like if Jax keeps going through boring and non-violent adventures like these, he might actually abstract because he seemed genuinely frustrated in this episode.
I doubt Jax worked at a fast food restaurant before entering the circus. The reason is because gangle worked at one before she entered the circus so it really wouldn’t make sense for both of them to have this character feature
Stop when the covo with pomni and jax happened i yelled out "OMG JAX IS WARMING UP TO POMNI?! THEY GONNA BE BUDDIESSSS?"
Honestly I find it somewhat relatable for jax when he’s just done and with the conversation he had with Pomni
I love how Pomni was about to open up, but stopped when she realized it was Jax talking to her.
Bro is traumatized by Gangle’s face
I'd like to see Jax's shell slowly open to one person rather than just one day become friends with everyone.
If Jax does have a character arc, that would be great, but wasn't it already confirmed by the creator when people complained about his rudeness in episode two that he was just going to get worse as the series went on?
Even though Jax is my favourite character, him getting traumatized/angered just makes me love him more for no reason lol
I loved Jax in this episode, his facial expressions were hilarious but Am I the only one who got the raggedy Ann reference from Ragatha? Where she says “I’m hurt enough, packages Landing on my head, tea parties, dancing lessons”
"I think this hints at what will happen during Episode 6."
Dude, wait until episode 5 comes out before you predict episode 6.
Jax is 100% some toxic 15 year old who hacked his way into the circus
The episode before this episode
Ragatha: "Be nice to her!"
Jax belike:
A MOMMENT OF HISTORYYYY
Jax was so relatable in this episode
NOOOOO PLEASE KEEP SOME OF THAT PERSONALITY🙏 It’s the reason why Jax is my favorite😭
Looks like Jax gave up and became humble
Something i noticed about Jax which may be a lore drop was his license plate. It had 0001 on it which may hint at him being the first one in the Circus
I heard a theory that Jax breaking Gangles mask all the time is on purpose (usually). Because he knows that gangles happy mask isnt her true self and that its healthy to hate things and be frustrated.
Also my own theory is that when gangle was alone near the end before she left spudsys, I think she was Abstracting. Or was going to.
With each passing episode, I have less and less trust in the phrase “Jax would NEVER do that”.
Either Jax gets worse or goose lied… which wouldn’t surprise me
"When he was alive"
They're not dead as far as we know.
From a tweet gooseworx gave, i don’t remember the exact wording but she said something like being a jax fan is not for the faint of heart. So while id love him to be redeemed i dont see it happening.
guys remember Jax is 22 so he probably arrived at 17-19 and at his young age he probably acts like this forgetting how to act normal that he didn't had time to finish his college if he didn't go to college he probably did work a job
