Why I think he can break the fourth wall: 1. I think he is set up to be an important character and can do this because of that. 2. All the characters have multiple abilities, so maybe it’s just one of the many normal ones he does. Plus he isn’t holding his breath. 3. It’s probably just a funny joke that goose decided to put in the show since his style is really cartoony and he’s based on the rubber hose style for animations.

BUT that very little time between him running away and just finished talking before doing so is too short for that to be the case. In episode 3, both Kinger and Pomni held their breath, and it took a few seconds before their own effects began. I personally think Jax might have his ears curl up if he held his breath, or his eyes would would start to pop out of his face.... I would also expect Jax to not have an effect from holding his breath and wanted to pretend he does to leave everyone guessing. (Jax has some awareness of the forth-wall, so I wouldn't put a pass on that).
All the breath holding skills are similar in that they do something silly. The only outlier so far is Kinger, since him glowing can be useful under the right circumstances. I strongly believe Jax' breath holding effect is something embarrassing. I like the idea that he becomes "cute" in some way. How about his limbs, body and ears get considerably shorter - which, again, can be useful to get through tight spaces - and as a side effect, he looks like a sweet little bunny as opposed to his lanky, cheeky look. This would practically destroy his ego, given what a tough guy he plays. The idea that people laugh at him or be able to mock him should be his worst nightmare. He doesn't allow himself to show even the least weakness or sadness. We've seen multiple split-second scenes of him with a sad look on his face which immediately get replaced by anger. My "shrink but look fuzzy bunny cute" hypothesis would also be of some value in story telling; he might be forced to do it while teamed up with Pomni and then he'll go "I kill you if you tell the others".

I just reailized something so in episode 3 while gangle and ragatha were drinking tea I saw jax tied up and I think he couldn’t breath that time so I guess he gets slightly faster🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Guys i have just realized something
In ep 1 when zooble chokes jax he was holding his breath and he opened his mouth
I think that's the thing why jax is jealous of others and bully them bc that's the thing he only do well he think that everyone will laugh at him bc others all have special abilities
