Man,, this was my number one favorite cartoon. I could not wait to get home from school to watch this. I am 60 years old and i remember it like it was yesterday. I use to love to sing the opening song!!Ha,Ha,Ha,Ha!!
Kim Slaughter, ME TOO. it's strange, I was at work the other day sitting at my desk minding my own business, and out of nowhere, this song GIGANTOR with the voices pops into my head. I'm 57 yrs old and I remember it.
I was a kid with a spoon in my hand, a bowl of cereal in front of me, and just glued to this back in the day. !!!! It was the last cartoon to watch before heading off to school,, unbelievable how time flies. !!!! 😎✌✝💕
I loved this too along with Prince Planet and Astroboy and Marineboy and Shintaro and thePhantom Agents. Lovedhowallthedialogwouldruntogetherwiththecharactersspeakingliketheywouldnot takeabreathasonecharacterfinishedthenextonewouldcontinue. Great post thanks.
Warner Brothers released the entire classic series on two fantastic volumes in the 1990's. Brought back a lot of memories of watching these episodes each night along with some of America's best classic animation on local New York TV. So many hours of truly fun TV!
When you are a kid, there's no such thing as bad quality, everything looks good and Gigantor among the countless animated series I used to watch growing up, is no exception. Still, it warms me with nostalgia to see it again for the first time since the late seventies.
I’m a 90’s kid, and I grew up with this cartoon. I can’t remember what station played it, but my dad would watch it with me when I was feeling glum. So many fond memories. Thank you.
Thank you so much for posting! I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid back in the 60's! Brings back wonderful memories of times that are far away & no more.... :-/
In my 20's and 30's I asked everyone if they had seen this show. I thought I was going crazy until Rosie O'Donnell mentioned it on her show. I was vindicated, lol!!
Gigantor is my favorite cartoon of all time! There was a time, probably back in the late 60s, or early 70s, when I knew just about every episode of this cartoon! No one could pull me away from the TV, or change the channel, if they did, I would have a fit! My siblings hated me! I was the youngest one! I used to think my father was Gigantor, when I was a child. When he was a little older, he was a little round like Gigantor. His watchband reminded me of Gigantor's bands he had on his wrists. Gigantor was my childhood hero, my father was my hero all the days when he was alive! He's still my hero, for all the days that I still live. That's why this cartoon means so much to me! I'm 61 years old now, will be 62 this May. Long live Gigantor!
When we were kids, my best friend and I competed to see who could make the best "Gigantor" in the backyard out of junk and old cans and crap. Summers seemed to last forever when we were 7 years old.
Dick Strong? ...really? lol I missed that double entendre as a kid. I loved this show. I used to show this with Prince Planet, Marine Boy, Astro Boy, Shintaro and other Japanese gems before the Super Flying FunShow of a morning in Australia
I remember it to, mainly because of the tune Gigantor the famous Robot . I wondered if I had imagined that Robot with a pointy nose one of my earliest memories along with Tinker and Taylor another children programme on Saturdays I think! Mark X
I've been trying to get someone to know Gigantor as it's the first memory of a cartoon I have and good old TH-cam has helped me. I even did the arm thing like him😍
Loved this cartoon as a kid in Scotland. Was probably around 7-10... Had no idea it was Japanese... Had obviously never heard of Manga at that time. My kids were getting into it in their teens............... Who knew I'd beaten them by some 25years?
Wow, this is unbelievable. I remember watching this, Speed Racer, and fucking SUPER CAR (which i have the original album) on tv. How many of you remember Super car?? Does this bring back memories for everyone else like it does for me? LOL These japanese cartoons were so cheesy, but were also so enjoyable. This was the beginning of the era of japanese cartoons.
Ah, yes, they never were really popular untill "Astroboy" became an anime series. Almost every anime since then was either directly inspired by astroboy and so enjoyed sucess, or indirectly so.
Man. This is actually pretty good. I was expecting something really goofy simplistic and harmless. The plot is decent. Animation is better than I expected and must have been amazing for the time. If I was a kid back then, I’d definitely be into this.
Like Johnny n Buzz,I remember all the old cartoons n sitting in front of a kero heater(electric one came later) plus we had bungers, slug guns, slingshots and all the rest back then.
+TheDGSexperience Looking at the kind of toys available to kids today, little do they know that they are being cheated. What we had was far better and mostly interactive too; you had to challenge your mind and your body to play with toys back in the day.
i always rembers it used come on adult swim at 5:30am when i was 13 to get ready for school. and billie lou watt please st louis put her in the st louis walk of fame. btw she was born in st louis.
I'm 58, in '72 I was like 7, saw atop a shelf(friend's house) action figure of Gigantor, I'm so heartbroken not touching it😢..... today it may worth a lot
This, kimba, marine boy, king Kong and speed racer were it for me as a kid. It was so bad for me that I would sit and wait for thr TV to come on to watch this.😅
When you are 6, 7 or 8 years old, television is in black and white, and there are only 13 good channels, this becomes the hi-light of your day, especially with chaos on the streets of New York City and a world at war. Everything was huge and wondrous back then. We took nothing for granted.
11:31 He sounds like a robot "Well Cat's Meow... ..... You win this round (In a Dead Robotic Voice)....LOLLLL You think they 1995 Microsoft Robot Voice to Act this guy?? hahaha
I just now came across this (and before that the theme song....to which I listened to a few times until stumbling here) this is quite the show here...never knew this existed....
Although they keep saying in the episodes that it's the year 2000 but they basically stayed in the 60s, where are the cell phones, they still Show flash bulbs when people take pictures,. But I Loved the show as a kid
I'm now 68 years old, and I still remember coming home from school and watching both GIGANTOR and Speed Racer on the tube.

Same here! I'd run around the house with arms outstretched like I was flying, singing the theme on a loop, and driving my parents nuts! 😂
It was my number two behind Prince Planet!! 😂
I used to watch Gigantor as well. A classic cartoon that is timeless.
Gigantor was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid in the 60s. First time watching in over 50 years!
Same here great times
Fond memories of rushing home after school to grab a big, sloppy PB&J and plop down before our B&W TV to catch Gigantor on the old UHF channel 52.
I'm 58 years old I used to watch this as a kid LOL
Kim Slaughter, ME TOO.
it's strange, I was at work the other day sitting at my desk minding my own business, and out of nowhere, this song GIGANTOR with the voices pops into my head.
I'm 57 yrs old and I remember it.
I'm 53 and I watched it too, in the early 70's.
54, and it was on as reruns or such, but I wouldn't watch as a kid! I was picky with T.V. LOL!
@Robbie Presley Why? Did you hide in the house those years because of polio? Or did the little handicapped girl next door beat your ass?
I loved this cartoon. My co-workers called Gigantor a giant trash can!
The old whale disguised as a submarine gambit. Diabolical, but brilliant.
I was a kid with a spoon in my hand, a bowl of cereal in front of me, and just glued to this back in the day. !!!!
It was the last cartoon to watch before heading off to school,, unbelievable how time flies. !!!!
😎✌✝💕
Yep, before running out to school!

1. of the first Anime cartoons we got in 🇦🇺Australia, in the 1960's when I was a Child. Just Loved Gigantor, Astro Boy, &. Prince Planet.😊
OMG!! The bygone days of my youth!!!
When you are a kid, there's no such thing as bad quality, everything looks good and Gigantor among the countless animated series I used to watch growing up, is no exception. Still, it warms me with nostalgia to see it again for the first time since the late seventies.
Considering when/where it was made and the fact that it created the mecha sub-genre of anime, I would say at least historically, it has good quality
My Favorite show as a child
My Favorite Robot Growing Up. Go One On One Against GIGANTOR, Good Luck, You'll Need It.
I used to come home from school and watch Gigantor. Speed Racer and Giant Robot. It didn't get any better then that for a 6 yr old in 1970🙂
I’m a 90’s kid, and I grew up with this cartoon. I can’t remember what station played it, but my dad would watch it with me when I was feeling glum. So many fond memories. Thank you.

Greatest cartoon of all time. Growing up in Long Beach, CA in the 60's. Miss those great days
Thanks for sharing this! I watched Gigantor when it was first shown on TV...it is great to see it again.
As a kid, I used to sing the theme song and run around our house.
All these cartoons had the jazziest music.
In my 20's and 30's I asked everyone if they had seen this show. I thought I was going crazy until Rosie O'Donnell mentioned it on her show. I was vindicated, lol!!
Loved Gigantor as little boy in the mid 60’s
Grew up watching this robot and love it. Thanks Allen4870 and You Tube. You make things that I thought were no more return, great joy for me.
I used to hurry home lickity split after school so I didn't miss Gigantor on our B&W cheap arse TV Lol

I remember this as a kid in the 60s. Seems the same type of artwork as Speed racer. But this predates Speed racer.

@@anonymousx1101 True, but let's not forget the other shows, such as SUPERCAR, SPEED RACER and others that completed the Saturday morning lineup.
I lpve this cartoon brings back good memories
Yeah I remember watching this as a kid. Even then I wondered what protected the robot from shells/missiles/whatever blasts?

This show is such a classic, used to like watching it while trippin' on mushrooms back in the day ;)
Lol! I can't believe I watched this when I was a kid!
I've always suspected it was the voice cast singing the theme
So small...smaller than Knightmare...
Doctor catsmeow appears to be german. I know this because he said "Ach du libre". Which i think is a common german explanation.
The Dickies brought me here, glad they did this is so cool
The kid missed a few payments and Gigantor got repossessed by the finance company...used to watch this on UHF 32 out of Chicago
who ever has the more efficient drone operators wins.......circa 1963
