Guys, I've said before this is one of the heaviest songs ever. In the true meaning of heavy. It's not fast or "brutal". It's HEAVYYYYY.
@dutchplanderlinde8883 absolutely. Swallow The Sun is a top 5 band for me. My Dying Bride introduced me to that gothic doomdeath as I call it. It's heavy AND beautifully somber.
@dutchplanderlinde8883 I remember discovering the band EVOKEN and I bought "Antithesis of Light"... I grew up as a metalhead and still am one, but holy crap... I think that's the first time I FELT a heaviness like that... It's a heaviness that weighs on your soul and everything that you are. It was such an emotional experience. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone who has not heard it.
The whole album is incredible
Martin Eric Ain, October 2005:
Lyrically, “A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh” is the most personal piece I have written for this endeavor. Originally conceived as a solemn poem entitled “Virgin Snow”, it eventually metamorphosed into something much more menacing. It deals with the feeling of failed emotional grandiosity that turns one into a completely self-obsessed egotistical entity. The song is obviously also a take on the theme of incarnation, the process of a God becoming human flesh and, on the other hand, of oneself wanting to become God. Even more so, I see it as an oxymoronic metaphor for the failure of humanity in its concept of oneself and God - or, if you prefer to think positive, it is about the individual process of change we call dying and the absurdity that lies therein.
🍻🤘
Celtic Frost were from Switzerland in the 80's ... They were a huge influence on extreme metal (thrash, death and black metal) and were 1 of Kurt Cobain's (Nirvana) favorite bands. However, they never achieved commercial success after attempting a misguided 'radio-friendly' 80's album ('Cold Lake') and Celtic Frost broke up by the early 90's... Their music has been covered by major bands like Anthrax, Sepultura, Dimmu Borgir, etc.
This track was from their 2006 comeback album 'Monotheist'... it was a return of the dark & morbid Celtic Frost. Unfortunately, the band disbanded again in 2008. Their frontman Tom Warrior (vocals/ guitar) formed a new band Tryptikon and released 2 albums that were a natural continuation of 'Monotheist'... Tragically, Celtic Frost co-founder/bassist Martin Eric Ain passed away in 2017.
Thomas Gabriel Fisher (aka Tom Warrior, guitar/vocals) hailed from Switzerland and he formed the band Hellhammer in 1982, which became famous for their raw, dark and abrasive demos... Bassist Martin Eric Ain joined Hellhammer in 1983... A year later in 1984, Fisher and Ain disbanded Hellhammer and formed Celtic Frost and recorded 2 EP's - 'Morbid Tales' and "Emperor's return"... Both were later packaged and released as 1 record 'Morbid tales'... Celtic Frost joined the global thrash metal scene that was emerging from N. America and Europe.
Reed St. Mark (drums) joined in 1985 for the next album 'To mega Therion'... which became a classic in the metal underground and used satanic imagery for the cover... Celtic Frost were becoming more popular w/ their 3rd album 'Into the pandemonium' in 1987.
The decision to go for a commercial album in 1988 led to bassist Martin Ain leaving Celtic Frost... Tom Warrior recorded and released the 'Cold Lake' album in 1988 stating he was frustrated w/ the scene where fans were becoming increasingly frantic during performances... Unfortunately, that record killed Celtic Frost's career and they never recovered as their fans sought heavier thrash metal bands like Metallica, Slayer, Kreator and others... Celtic Frost returned to a heavier sound in 1990 w/ the album 'Vanity/ Nemesis'... but it was too late to salvage their popularity... Celtic Frost disbanded in 1993.
Despite staying active in music, Tom Warrior was not keen on a Celtic Frost reunion... But bassist Martin Ain finally convinced him to working on a new Celtic Frost album that was finally released in 2006 and the band was back on tour w/ Franco Sesa (drums)... However, Tom Warrior seemingly broke up the band by 2008 after alleged conflicts w/ Sesa... He and Ain announced that Celtic Frost was over.
Recently, Tom Warrior has been touring and playing Celtic Frost songs as Triumph of Death.
Other Celtic Frost classics - 'Dethroned Emperor' ... 'Circle of the tyrants' ... 'Procreation of the wicked' ... 'Ground' 🔥🔥🤘🤘
wow....that's a lot of information 👍 what do you think about CORONER...? one of my favorite band. they were roadies from CF.
Now that, my friends, is how you leave a comment. 🍻🤘
@rogercoroner3176
Coroner slays.
Fun story: I met a kid from Germany in the 90s at a Voivod show, and he kept talking about a band that sounded like 'Corona', due to his accent. Took me about 20 years to figure out that he was saying 'Coroner'.
Im so glad you liked this band. They have so much more interesting and amazing music. Please dive back into this band.
This is from their final and best album. I saw them live on their last tour. An experience. Truly legendary.
🍻🤘
9:32 lmao the look on both their faces says it all. Smokey’s especially. “What in the goddamn fuck?” 🤣
There's much respect for this band in the Black Metal community.
Celtic Frost are on a level with Metallica and Slayer for the influence and the pioneering direction they took metal in the early 80's. Unfortunately they stumbled hard at a time when the extreme metal crowd didn't forgive easily and 'sold out' hard when they actually stated on their albums they'd never sell out. TBH I didn't now they ever made a come back until fairly recently which is too bad because they're newer stuff is amazing.
celtic frost - circle of the tyrants classic black metal
Finally Celtic Frost!!!! Not the best song to react to. They've got much better of their earlier stuff. They are a Swiss metal band formed in 84 I believe and they range from metal, thrash, doom and black metal. Dethroned Emperor off their morbid tales album.... earlier stuff 🤘😎🤘
Man the rabbit hole this song opened up for me💀 I‘d recommend the song Ain Elohim by them if you really haven’t done them yet, also look into Triptykon- it was Tom Warriors next project after Celtic Frost came to an end… dude had quite a journey
Btw you guys rock🤘
Absolute legends. Celtic Frost were a massive part of my youth. Loved old hip hop, like Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim, Whodini, Run DMC as much as Celtic Frost, Voivod and Coroner. This is one of their later tracks, which is still amazing. But you need to delve into their old history, guys. Check out Deththroned Emperor, Circle of the Tyrants, Procreation of the Wicked, Inner Sanctum, Babylon Fell, Morbid Tales, Rex Irae, Return To The Eve. So many top tracks!
great, great band. I fully advocate for them, saw them on the Monotheist tour, i wish more channels would do reactions to them. Part of it is that they are virtually unknown, so a vid of Celtic Frost won't get hits, so a channel has to sprinkle those vids lightly through their content. But, I just had a guy react to Spiral Architect and Arcturus, so, just have to keep asking!
Truth. So ahead of their time even using NASA samples and what I would say Proto hip hop drumming on into the pandemonium... they are an absolutely unique phenomenon in the history of extreme metal.
Alright "Circle Of The Tyrants", by Celtic Frost next..
F*** yes! I've been requesting this video from various reaction channels for like 3 years now and it is not come to pass until this moment. And by my favorite reaction Channel as well! Celtic Frost were innovators and THE Godfathers of conceptual death metal.far and away. Their story behind the scenes is amazing, it is totally unlikely that they would have ever have even been noticed had it not been for the timing and how early on in the extreme metal movement they were active. From a farming region of Switzerland no less... they released The Incredible orbid Tales album in 1984, followed up with to Mega Ttherion which was so musically powerful that they managed to convince Swiss artist HR Gieger to let them use his powerful and dark artwork on it for free because he felt he Associated so strongly with the vibe of the music if not the metal music itself... bear in mind they were on a pretty small independent label at this point and hardly anybody knew about them but that was about to change with their third album Icnto the pandemonium which combined symphonic elements and opera singers and even drum machines in early samples from nasa... they were innovators and as such they burned out quickly turmoil chaos ups and downs terrible decisions wonderful decisions career killing albums career making albums.... they did it all and in a really short period of time. Cut to 2006 and the release of the amazing "Monotheist" record and Celtic Frost we're back
I had waited 17 years to see them live and I told their basist Martin this fact that very evening because I was fortunate enough to interview them that evening in San Francisco. They were absolutely wonderful to us, despite a pretty rough go of things on that Tour by that point, and if you watch the Dying God documentary it appears that that very afternoon they had had some pretty serious disagreements within the band itself about the nature of whether they were going to continue the tour and whatnot But, you would have never known it by how professional and cool they were with all of us. Just really smart, and humble guys that really seemed to appreciate this huge crowd that had come out to witness their return and to welcome them back letting them know they never truly been forgotten even though they're contemporaries from the 80s like Metallica and Anthrax Slayer etcetera had gone on to much bigger things their path was different. But it was unique as they are. Rest in peace Martin Eric Ain
Tom actually works as a curator for the HR Giger Museum.
@@tubelious yes, he was really helpful to get her in his final years and I guess has become very close with the family as a whole. I don't think that it gears Legacy could be in better and more respectful hands
Everyone should pay careful attention to the reflection in both Martin and Tom's eyes, it is a subtle thing but worth checking out with a steel frame or something like that
We need more DOOOOOOOM METAL on this Channel !!!! MY DYING BRIDE for example !
🤘 Candlemass 🤘
@dutchplanderlinde8883 Paradise Lost has made a.nice comeback in the last few albums. Gothic doomdeath, and groove metal like Lamb Of God, Gojira are my fav subgenres.
Hell yes!! This song hits so hard. I really want to see you guys do some more extreme metal. My suggestion is cattle decapitation - solastalgia! You want something that will smack you in the mouth.... but still leave you feeling thoughtful and with questions.
I don’t know u Purple Thoughts, but thank you to bring the Frost on this channel. Huh 🤘
Absolutely love this type of music.😊🤘🤘🤘🖤🖤🖤
When this album (Monotheist) came out in 2006, the amount of respect for it in the metal community was off the charts. It's the album of the decade for me. Thomas Gabriel Warrior started the band Triptykon in this Celtic Frost style, but even heavier!!
Great video and reaction. FYI the band was from Switzerland. Only got to seem them live once, and they were brilliant.
Yet another reason i play a Warwick bass(1998 corvette). However, its not about knowing the meaning, its about feeling the pain of being forced into a form you feel you are greater than and have to suffer through that meager existence.
Back in the eighties a friend of mine described them as the "Rush of death metal"... which while being perhaps a bit complimentary on the music side of things... not that Frost were slouches, but they were self-taught musicians from a region of the world that just didn't really do metal so their version was full of unique energy rather than technical complication..... but their lyrics and their overall Concepts were highly highly intelligent and every bit as worthy of a Neil Peart seal of approval as any Rush lyric
I was going to send this your way, glad someone got to it before me! Celtic Frost is for me the thrash band from the 80s that hold up the best. I doubt I'm in the majority on that, but they just did shit differently. Thanks for the reaction!
Agree. MT, to mega, and ITP still hold up
The musical project of these dudes, first as Hellhammer, then Celtic Frost, and then Triptykon, has always been at the forefront of true darkness and true heaviness, as far as the technology of the time allowed.
Most bands from the 80s just try and stick to the style that got them famous and they end up making the same albums but not as iconic as their early stuff, but the fact that Celtic Frost came back with this album and were just as unique and cutting edge in our time as in the 80s shows how great their musical vision is. RIP Martin Eric Ain.
don't forget Winter! It only had one album, but it was Doom and Death maestry
The "Circle of the Tyrants "
video from their "To MegaTherion" album is a good representation of them and a full force thrash metal crowd Circa 1986 or so. It is shot on cheap video but damn it's freaking red and that song is amazing. Highly recommended
OMG that's all I can say!!!! It's so heavy I'm blown away lol. I never heard of this band . No more words to say but like there's so much out there I never heard. Anyways guys stay real and cool and awesome. Love ya both guys Hollywood and Smokey. ❤ they are from Zurich Switzerland metal band I goggled it it for you 😆. Anyways Dueces always ✌️✌️
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Maybe it's the process of a fall from grace. Going from the upper plane down to the lower plane of Earth and humanity.
Aw man, no reactors ever do Celtic Frost. Swiss Gods. Their earlier stuff in the 80s is the best - "Morbid Tales", "To Mega Therion" and yes, even some of "Into the Pandemonium". I interviewed singer/guitarist Tom Warrior (Fischer) in 1989. CF were very avant garde for an extreme metal band of their time, sometimes using opera singers and string quartets on their recordings.
Welcome to the Celtic Crew. Been there for 42 years. I was a kid buying their first album on LP.
You guys are awesome, great genuine reaction(s) Celtic Frost my personal suggestions are Dethrown Emporer or Into crypt of rays. Peace
Did you guys hear that Dickie Allen is joining Necrogoblicon? F Yeah!
I'm ashamed to say that i discovered this song because the band Black Tongue made a cover of this song, still undecided which one i like the most
This is a great, underrated album. The opening track just hits you.
Morning guys! That was different. Weird but kool too. Haha! Trippy. 🤓
Wow, this is not a band I expected to see on here. Or really any channel for that matter lol but I LOVE IT!
They are from Switzerland. Formed in 1984...
Celtic Frost was from Switzerland. Their first release came out in 1984.
The GODFATHERS of Swiss Black Metal !......check out also the other Bands of TOM WARRIOR : HELLHAMMER & TRIPTYKON !
You guys are awesome.
A better love story than Twilight!
One thing needs to be known. The meaning is never easy with this subject. Martin was a philosopher of the occult. And with that said most of the fans that grew up listening to this genre were reading Crowley before and especially after dabbling with such bands. The understanding of 'The Logos', 'Will' and other terms need to be understood through those ideas. Unlike Slayer, and Venom, who just were blatantly clear about such subjects. To take a language like Hebrew for example and learn it through these occult philosophies make ideas like this changes the landscape for lyricist like these guys
DO MORE SONGS FROM SOAD 1ST ALBUM! I've been suggesting "MIND" For AGES, PLZ do "MIND" it's 6 minutes long, btw dont forget the STUDIO VERSION OF SUITE PEE!!! plz!!!! Sorry if I sound a little desperate lol
The video before this one was literally a SOAD reaction from their first album.
@@metalguru85i know, that's why I got excited, coz I've been suggesting MIND for ages, so when I see them reacting to Suggestions I got excited coz their 1st album has a special place in my life
The European Gods And Originators of The Avantgarde Death Metal as it said on one of their albums. Vocalist/Guitarist Tom G. Warrior aka Thomas Gabriel Fischer later recorded with his bands Apollyon Sun and Triptykon.
Drummer Reed St. Mark recorded with Mind Funk. They are such a great band. Check out Sister Blue, Blood Runs Red, 11 Ton Butterfly, Super Chief and The People Who Fell From The Sky. Their singer Pat Dubar are of Native American descent.
great reaction well done epic black metal

Another band that you should check out for your journey into extreme metal is Carcass. They use medical terminology in their songs like Cross My Heart, Heartwork, Unfit For Human Consumption, Corporal Jigsore Quandary, and Mount Of Execution.
Makes Black Sabbath sound like betty boo!!🎸
R.I.P Martin Eric Ain. His performance in this video was marvelous.
The rabbit in the pot is where the term bunny boiler comes from. Big fan of doom, this song is a classic
To me the song is from the perspective of a fallen angel, or even THE fallen angel. Either way, POWERFUL SHIT! Love that band.
Listen to them when they were called Hellhammer. Heaviest shit in the entire 1980s!
If you came this far with Celtic Frost you got to go all the way in Check out the song called the usurper, there from the U.K and they write songs about Barbarian Warriors
Switzerland's finest. Have all their early stuff from the mid-1980s.
All I can say is what the fudge? But I liked it.
I do not want to come off as some know it all or anything, but for what I know, the band them self pronounce Celtic like the American basketball team 😅 it is a common mistake people do, no hard feelings 🤘
Guys, you definitely need to check out Second death by Black Tongue(or any other song from Nadir album) YOU WONT REGRET IT

BUT I don't have a car since last summer & I'm always broke, so
Idk if I'll be able to go anyways ...
You gotta check out the band Tryptikon. The singer/guitarist of CF plays in that band too. I suggest boleskine house or shatter! Also, you should check out Gaerea! Awesome black metal from Portugal!
Wow I forgot about that band. Gonna have to get back into them.
hollywood looking like he let loose a wicked gyro and beer fart

Sweden i believe, one of the originals of dark metal.

Definitely not the Celtic Frost song I would start anyone off with but especially not to people that have never listened to the genre much. New reaction please to Procreation of the Wicked, Morbid Tales, ect. Then work your way into that song. That’s like giving a first grader War and Peace to read for Pete’s sakes! Lol
you saying your typical nonsense as usual, so clueless.
So i don't know if you found alestorm but that's your pirate metal.
I believe they did drink
