@dutchplanderlinde8883 absolutely. Swallow The Sun is a top 5 band for me. My Dying Bride introduced me to that gothic doomdeath as I call it. It's heavy AND beautifully somber.
@dutchplanderlinde8883 I remember discovering the band EVOKEN and I bought "Antithesis of Light"... I grew up as a metalhead and still am one, but holy crap... I think that's the first time I FELT a heaviness like that... It's a heaviness that weighs on your soul and everything that you are. It was such an emotional experience. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone who has not heard it.
Celtic Frost were from Switzerland in the 80's ... They were a huge influence on extreme metal (thrash, death and black metal) and were 1 of Kurt Cobain's (Nirvana) favorite bands. However, they never achieved commercial success after attempting a misguided 'radio-friendly' 80's album ('Cold Lake') and Celtic Frost broke up by the early 90's... Their music has been covered by major bands like Anthrax, Sepultura, Dimmu Borgir, etc. This track was from their 2006 comeback album 'Monotheist'... it was a return of the dark & morbid Celtic Frost. Unfortunately, the band disbanded again in 2008. Their frontman Tom Warrior (vocals/ guitar) formed a new band Tryptikon and released 2 albums that were a natural continuation of 'Monotheist'... Tragically, Celtic Frost co-founder/bassist Martin Eric Ain passed away in 2017. Thomas Gabriel Fisher (aka Tom Warrior, guitar/vocals) hailed from Switzerland and he formed the band Hellhammer in 1982, which became famous for their raw, dark and abrasive demos... Bassist Martin Eric Ain joined Hellhammer in 1983... A year later in 1984, Fisher and Ain disbanded Hellhammer and formed Celtic Frost and recorded 2 EP's - 'Morbid Tales' and "Emperor's return"... Both were later packaged and released as 1 record 'Morbid tales'... Celtic Frost joined the global thrash metal scene that was emerging from N. America and Europe. Reed St. Mark (drums) joined in 1985 for the next album 'To mega Therion'... which became a classic in the metal underground and used satanic imagery for the cover... Celtic Frost were becoming more popular w/ their 3rd album 'Into the pandemonium' in 1987. The decision to go for a commercial album in 1988 led to bassist Martin Ain leaving Celtic Frost... Tom Warrior recorded and released the 'Cold Lake' album in 1988 stating he was frustrated w/ the scene where fans were becoming increasingly frantic during performances... Unfortunately, that record killed Celtic Frost's career and they never recovered as their fans sought heavier thrash metal bands like Metallica, Slayer, Kreator and others... Celtic Frost returned to a heavier sound in 1990 w/ the album 'Vanity/ Nemesis'... but it was too late to salvage their popularity... Celtic Frost disbanded in 1993. Despite staying active in music, Tom Warrior was not keen on a Celtic Frost reunion... But bassist Martin Ain finally convinced him to working on a new Celtic Frost album that was finally released in 2006 and the band was back on tour w/ Franco Sesa (drums)... However, Tom Warrior seemingly broke up the band by 2008 after alleged conflicts w/ Sesa... He and Ain announced that Celtic Frost was over. Recently, Tom Warrior has been touring and playing Celtic Frost songs as Triumph of Death. Other Celtic Frost classics - 'Dethroned Emperor' ... 'Circle of the tyrants' ... 'Procreation of the wicked' ... 'Ground' 🔥🔥🤘🤘
@rogercoroner3176 Coroner slays. Fun story: I met a kid from Germany in the 90s at a Voivod show, and he kept talking about a band that sounded like 'Corona', due to his accent. Took me about 20 years to figure out that he was saying 'Coroner'.
Martin Eric Ain, October 2005: Lyrically, “A Dying God Coming into Human Flesh” is the most personal piece I have written for this endeavor. Originally conceived as a solemn poem entitled “Virgin Snow”, it eventually metamorphosed into something much more menacing. It deals with the feeling of failed emotional grandiosity that turns one into a completely self-obsessed egotistical entity. The song is obviously also a take on the theme of incarnation, the process of a God becoming human flesh and, on the other hand, of oneself wanting to become God. Even more so, I see it as an oxymoronic metaphor for the failure of humanity in its concept of oneself and God - or, if you prefer to think positive, it is about the individual process of change we call dying and the absurdity that lies therein.
Celtic Frost are on a level with Metallica and Slayer for the influence and the pioneering direction they took metal in the early 80's. Unfortunately they stumbled hard at a time when the extreme metal crowd didn't forgive easily and 'sold out' hard when they actually stated on their albums they'd never sell out. TBH I didn't now they ever made a come back until fairly recently which is too bad because they're newer stuff is amazing.
Man the rabbit hole this song opened up for me💀 I‘d recommend the song Ain Elohim by them if you really haven’t done them yet, also look into Triptykon- it was Tom Warriors next project after Celtic Frost came to an end… dude had quite a journey Btw you guys rock🤘
Hell yes!! This song hits so hard. I really want to see you guys do some more extreme metal. My suggestion is cattle decapitation - solastalgia! You want something that will smack you in the mouth.... but still leave you feeling thoughtful and with questions.
Absolute legends. Celtic Frost were a massive part of my youth. Loved old hip hop, like Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim, Whodini, Run DMC as much as Celtic Frost, Voivod and Coroner. This is one of their later tracks, which is still amazing. But you need to delve into their old history, guys. Check out Deththroned Emperor, Circle of the Tyrants, Procreation of the Wicked, Inner Sanctum, Babylon Fell, Morbid Tales, Rex Irae, Return To The Eve. So many top tracks!
great, great band. I fully advocate for them, saw them on the Monotheist tour, i wish more channels would do reactions to them. Part of it is that they are virtually unknown, so a vid of Celtic Frost won't get hits, so a channel has to sprinkle those vids lightly through their content. Truth. So ahead of their time even using NASA samples and what I would say Proto hip hop drumming on into the pandemonium... they are an absolutely unique phenomenon in the history of extreme metal.
Finally Celtic Frost!!!! Not the best song to react to. They've got much better of their earlier stuff. They are a Swiss metal band formed in 84 I believe and they range from metal, thrash, doom and black metal. Dethroned Emperor off their morbid tales album.... earlier stuff 🤘😎🤘

Everyone should pay careful attention to the reflection in both Martin and Tom's eyes, it is a subtle thing but worth checking out with a steel frame or something like that
When this album (Monotheist) came out in 2006, the amount of respect for it in the metal community was off the charts. It's the album of the decade for me. Thomas Gabriel Warrior started the band Triptykon in this Celtic Frost style, but even heavier!!

The musical project of these dudes, first as Hellhammer, then Celtic Frost, and then Triptykon, has always been at the forefront of true darkness and true heaviness, as far as the technology of the time allowed. Most bands from the 80s just try and stick to the style that got them famous and they end up making the same albums but not as iconic as their early stuff, but the fact that Celtic Frost came back with this album and were just as unique and cutting edge in our time as in the 80s shows how great their musical vision is. RIP Martin Eric Ain.
The "Circle of the Tyrants " video from their "To MegaTherion" album is a good representation of them and a full force thrash metal crowd Circa 1986 or so. It is shot on cheap video but damn it's freaking red and that song is amazing. Highly recommended
Aw man, no reactors ever do Celtic Frost. Swiss Gods. Their earlier stuff in the 80s is the best - "Morbid Tales", "To Mega Therion" and yes, even some of "Into the Pandemonium". One thing needs to be known. The meaning is never easy with this subject. Martin was a philosopher of the occult. And with that said most of the fans that grew up listening to this genre were reading Crowley before and especially after dabbling with such bands. The understanding of 'The Logos', 'Will' and other terms need to be understood through those ideas. Unlike Slayer, and Venom, who just were blatantly clear about such subjects. To take a language like Hebrew for example and learn it through these occult philosophies make ideas like this changes the landscape for lyricist like these guys
Celtic Frost FL Death, Thrash Metal genre (* Obituary usually covers this band, song ' Circle of the Tyrants ' & ' Dethroned Emperor ') 🤘🏻😆 " DEUCES! " ✌🏻😸✌🏻
