@ skintrade: Limahl didn't actually leave. Nick, Steve, Stuart and Jez fired him, but they all agreed that they should have fired their Manager instead. Watch VH-1's "Reuniting The Band: Kajagoogoo", it's a really good insight into the band.
I think he Is scottish so he dresses skirts on stage but not Always scottish ones. He wants to be original,i think. But he's always amazing as he was and maybe more now than before! I love his voice that never changed. And his bassline
What a great find thankyou for posting this. I loved kagagoogoo back in the 80's and they are still sounding great. With Nick Beggs singing and looking as good as he does..why did they ever need Limahl( he sounds awful)',if the band had only been Nick, Steve, Stuart and Jez I'm sure they would have gone on for alot longer than they did.
Although I don't care for Nick Begg's outfit lol, I like his voice! Better than Limahl's in my opinion. To play bass like that and sing is phenomenal! Also, this was recorded from a fan's camera?? It sounds and looks amazing!!
Hi didn't do a runner, the other four band members 'voted' to give him the big heave ho. Bad decision in retrospect, as they admitted years later, and it took a lot of guts on both sides to come together as the original line up and play together once more. Ego is such a dangerous trait sometimes
Limahl has quite a bit more nuance to his voice--he has some of the feel of a black female soul singer in his subtle delivery; it is there but it is not overpowering. There is a reason Nick is not their vocalist. His voice lacks the magic touch that singing demands. Anyway, he is as good a bassist as many top funk players. Bernard Edwards comes to mind. I'm surprised Limahl still sounds this good.
Nick's a fakkin Bass genius! Limahl shouldn't have sang the Big Apple song with Nick, it was AWFUL...as beautiful his voice was, it wasn't for that song! Big Apple is for Nick Beggs and only for him! As also for the Lion's Mouth. That Big Apple song was the first single when they broke up and when I had to accept that Limahl was gone and Kaja had to move on. Limahl's voice was PERFECT for the White Feathers album, but he shouldn't mess around with Islands album. Those songs in Islands were perfectly for Nick's type of voice.
