I love the Basecamp, but the 6 has not proved popular and has been discontinued. I think it was too pricey but some of the deals around now on those still in stock make it much more tempting for me. I’d love one and there aren’t that many family caravans with single beds - perfect for my big teenagers who are getting too big for bunk beds or sharing a double. Thanks for watching.. I think the Basecamps popularity is based on its lightweight and compact design. The 6 was aimed at a market that wasn’t really there.. at least Swift has realised this and their 2024 models are looking great. The Sprite and Elegance Grande looked good at Harrogate. 😊👍
I love it. Swift have made a caravan lightweight but aimed at people who use tents. Im definitely interested in a 6 berth. Love the style, cant fault it. If you want the space etc go for a normal caravan... im up for these.. and will get one

At almost £24.5K I'm not sure who Swift are targeting with this model. The original concept of the BC2 was a low cost outdoor pursuits friendly van aimed at younger couples. The BC4 could street that for a couple with younger kids. But by for a couple of hundred pounds more you can have a Sprite Major 6 which is probably a more practical proposition for a family of 6.
Think it would be great for 4 people. No fighting over the top bunk bed as there are 2. Curtains would be nice and I would probably use a runner to make it more cosy
I think a lot of people are missing the point. In my my mind the Basecamp range is a caravan for campers. Whether you go for the 2, 4 or 6 simply depends on the size of your family. A wrap around design awning is definitely an omission.
I want to love it but It’s just not a Base Camp to me. We have the BC2 which is everything it was designed to be. I get the BC4 and combined with the BC2 Swift have brought a superb concept to the market.
As is often the case, I have to agree with you. The 6 berth model hasn't really been thought out somehow. It just seems to be a longer version with another set of chairs/bunks thrown in. Very good point about the rear door height. I wonder why they didn't think to add drop-down stairs that swung-up and locked to the rear whilst in transit. The Basecamp in my opinion, should have used coil spring suspension (pullman suspension) as in the Opus Off-road Camper in my opinion. Would have allowed it to go just a bit farther and really be a Basecamp. As it is, it is just akin to a sedan pretending to be an off-roader.
I do like the Basecamp vans! Not everyone does but it's convenient for a lot of people. Whether 6 people would be comfortable or not in one or have a more spacious comfortable van, only people who have one would know really! Great vlog both, take care xxx

I’ve always said the basecamp range is almost a under 30’s caravan that do not like a standard white box, the biggest selling point for me is the solar panel and the light weight, that 6 berth is lighter than my 2 berth caravan - So towable with a smaller car which offers more options for a car and not having to drive a big heavy car daily. Although bigger is better 😀x
I like the styling of this 'van , the chunkiness of it with the decals and colours . I think one thing i am not keen on are the net pockets , that remind me that they ( for me ) arent practical, as i know they stretch and get damaged over time .I dont see thepoint of open shelving ? unless the 'van is stationary and the clients are going to be in it for a few weeks , although 6 people inside this would be really claustrophobic .I like the blinds in place of curtains ,but I can see why the curtains would be there as it makes it appear comfortable and softens the hardness of the frames of the windows in place of the awful padded outer panels sometimes seen in caravans . I think its quite bizarre that at no point has a caravan company ever designed a table that can simply push down into the floor or fold away in situ , instead of having to fold one up and carry it to put in a wardrobe ? I like the deep drawers under the cooker, much more convenient so you dont have to search on your hands and knees into the unit for whatever is there . That little drawer inside the slim unit to the right of the oven ,could have held a table of sorts . I like the cutlery drawer , neat . the bunk beds , wow , slim ......the ladder , it shouldve been stored elsewhere , perhaps somehow on the back door ? so the wardrobe has enough space for clothing . I fully agreed with your final review .
Really great review, very extensive :) Is that external mains socket actually covered by the awning though, presumably not so hopefully weather proof with a plug & trailing lead attached... For me this is actually a decent 4 berth (MUCH better for 4 than the 4 berth because the top bunks especially in these are tiny, & all far too narrow and only 1m longer) with emergency eg friend accommodation possibilities… other elephant in the room is of course length on pitch when an awning is attached, especially that Vango one exactly as you say, pretty sure this combo is over 10m all together! And yet still really not enough extra room if you are 6 people. That and the payload…, sounds ok until you start thinking about folding the seats up to get 6 bikes/enough kayaks in… We tend to use packing cubes for clothes rather than the wardrobe so those 6 bags at the back would work really well as long as basically all bedding could be stored in the wardrobe during the day because anything shoved under seats is bound to get mucky with usual detritus trodden around on a family holiday. Great that different but suspect better value/more practical options out there even for larger families… or someone needs to sort a wrap around awning that doesn’t stick out too far on the back but utilises the side properly!

When you give a caravan length is that body length or tow ball to rear? The metal drawer slides and positive locks on the drawers are a great feature. Prices seem to be rising everywhere. Therefore I was surprised to see the £2-3000 discount in the window ad. Pitches at only 8 meters long, maybe that's why you have caravan movers.
Morning Bernie, yes I give the total length which we also call the shipping length. Our pitches here are generally quite small, some sites that are mostly grass pitches will usually be the ones where you are going to get more room. I like the video but not the basecamp 6 as the door is at the rear, for several reasons, access, when pitched up, most my sites have hedging at rear of pitches, and when it in storage its backed into fencing, just to name a few

The fittings look really flimsy to me, for the money I’d be expecting something a bit more substantial. It is lacking home comforts. It would be ok in summer but not sure it would be much fun in winter when you tend to spend more time inside.

It shouts adventure, but that price bracket seems above the price range that adventurous mid size families could afford, especially in present times.
So with that length and awning on the back... how is that going to fit on a standard club site pitch?? Can't imagine stepping out directly into a hedge!! ...No microwave, only a 3 burner hob, small fridge, no headroom in the lounge for a 6ft tall person, 'that' bathroom and for £27k! Sorry, but Swift have totally lost the plot with the bigger Basecamp 6. Rather spend the money on a Swift Challenger and get something for your money.
Oh dont.. do you know what, I usually give the width in feet as per the manufacturer and the length in metres. I do that as most pitch lengths are advertised in metres. I have had so many bad comments about why I do that, that it got to me so much I changed to feet. Now I have upset you 🤷🏼♀️😂 Ok.. I am just going to give the measurements as I always have as feet don’t actually mean much to me when I am doing caravan lengths. Have a lovely weekend 😊 Karina

We wanted a bc4 or 6, ended up with a Bailey Phoenix 650 as it’s better and cheaper.
