    Thankyou for this video im new to caravaning and spent hours reading forums and watching other TH-cam videos and, I was still confused what I do and don’t need. This video less than an hour showed me everything I need and what not to waste my money on. It’s easy listening. And simple and explained well for a newbie. 👍

    Talking of kettles the first piece of advice we got on site was, you have to buy the gas, the electricity comes with the pitch. We have always used the electric kettle since.
    Really very good and informative video. Can anyone commentate for so long and stay on topic with hardly an um or an ah. Well done and thank you.

    I believe on of the main reasons for melamine crockery besides the less likelihood of breakages is the weight saving. Max pay load is often overlooked and things like this can help with keeping weight down.

    I've learned something today. I didn't know melamine wasn't microwave-safe, Thank You! Caravans & motorhomes in Australia have a mains water hose connection point. As well as an onboard water tank. Normal practice is to hook up to the tap. Everything then works on mains pressure as in a house. You can turn the tap off when you leave the van unattended. Being an absolute cheapskate I'm from Yorkshire but my local accent is Lancashire. Work that out! I use timber offcuts from garden bed edging to spread the weight under the steadies. Our local Bunnings (B&Q equivalent) has a pallet of free offcuts. I forgot to put a spirit level in the van on one trip & used a bowl 1/2 filled with water it worked a treat.

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      😂 Brilliant cost saving measures! You never lose the true Yorkshireman in you. Some caravans here have a direct feed too and a water tank but not many. The serviced pitch kit will connect directly to the water pump if you’re not using the aquaroll. In the past two years serviced pitches have become much more popular here. Have a nice weekend and I hope lockdown is going okay 😊 Karina

    Interesting video but why didn’t you talk about the green toilet fluid? You can use this in both flush and cassette which means only carrying one bottle. Also some sites prefer you to use this because its organic for this day and age.

      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have been caravaning for 35 years I use homemade wooden ramps and chocks. A good sack trolly and 25 litre canister cheaper for waste water. I have a 100 litre plastic tank for my fresh water with a ballcock fitted so I can fill it with my aquaroll or if I am on a pitch near enough to run a pipe to saves running out when having a shower. A tracker is a must in case locks get cut off by thieves. A good way of checking the nose wieght if you can lift the cupling easy it is too light but if you struggle a bit then it is somewhere near the right nose wieght but always use the gauge as well once you think loaded right. Love my wistling gas kettle. And a big yes to a spare break away cabble.

    Great video Thankyou for taking the time to make it.
    Ive used Theyford and Elsan but found the Thetford left black bits in the flush tank so went with Elsan. I agree on the smell of both is very chemical.
    Bobbly Dazzler is an after wash protection. Fenwich do caravan wash and both products are excellent.
    For polishing i use Autoglym super resin polish on the aluminium panels and 3m light cutting polish on grp/gelcoat panels. Dont use any firm of t cut caravan paint is far too thin.

    Great vlog, going by the sticker prices you can see why folks buy online, but I could spend all day in there. Milenco noseweight guage is the one to buy. I think your piece on mirrors could be misleading to some as not many cars wide enough to see clearly down and out to the side as you have to by Law. Good tip for toilet cassette fluid and only use Purieclean for sterilisation 👍👍

      If you have doubts about the accuracy of a noseweight gauge, simply use it the first time on some accurate bathroom scales, adjust your caravan by the scales and mark the noseweight gauge with a ring of tape.

    Hi there just a quick question about safety and checking the caravan before you set off, do check your motorhome or car wheel nut/stud torque before every journey?

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No Bob, the checking of the caravan is recommended by insurance companies, the clubs and several publications as well as the manufacturers. Many insurance claims come from caravan wheels becoming detached as I presume there is more vibration through a caravan chassis than a car or motorhome. The advice with a car or motorhome is not to check before every journey as wheel detachment is very rare. I dont know the full technicalities but that would be my understanding of it. Im happy to follow the recommendation of Alko and the NCC and check the caravan every time just to be safe. Have a great weekend 😊 Karina

      Thanks Mrs G, I have always used washing machines on site, even when we did 7 weeks in Europe. The link below is the sort I have seen people use but you do need to feed them with water for wash and rinse and they take up a bit of space too. I would just use site facilities if you need to do a wash but everyone’s circumstances are different 😊 Karina

      We had a 110 on our Isonzo so I would recommend that sort of rating as opposed to a lower one. If you have solar on your caravan it will keep it topped up if your not on electric hook up. 😊 Karina

    Corelle ( made of vitrelle a tempered. glass product) crockery sets have served us well.....non breakable....light....microwave proof....initially expensive but lasts an age...... £ spent/meal, it’ll work our very good value.

    Excellent video again. I started in 1984 and pretty much thought you had to go down the "melamine lightweight" route because we had three kids with us. Been just two of us now for a long time and we just use the same sorta stuff as we do at home. I think Cadac or any kind of outdoor cooking is great and an all serviced pitch just makes everything so much easier ;))

    Is there a reason why you can’t use melamine in the microwave/dishwasher? We have had ours for over 4 years and used in both.

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Madge, in a microwave it can cause chemicals to leach in to food from the plastic. It can also cause damage to the plastic, it does say on the packaging not to use it in those. Thats what put me off it as I like to microwave porridge 🥣and beans in the microwave. 😊

    Love the vid but with your security part none will stand up too a cordless angle grinder or gas axe. I’d say buy the cheapest that your insurance company spec. And of these you talk about would take less than 20 seconds to remove

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats true Paul and that is why my main recommendation is the Alko lock. Still removable yes, but on a high value caravan many insurance companies will only accept the diamond rated Alko. If they want it they will take it but as long as you have done your best and fulfilled the insurance requirements. The JSB hublock is the best product you can fit, but I don’t think many caravanners will be taking off their wheels every time. This are good on a seasonal pitch though. Thanks for watching and enjoy your travels once we are back out again next week 😊 Karina

    Excellent video, but you didn't explain that the two dimensional caravan levelling spirit level only comes with 12 months warranty from purchase !! Lol.
    Seriously, as an old truck driver I would introduce everyone to a very important Law which I can still remember my old ex RAF driving instructor explaining to me. It's a Law called Murphy's Law, basically it means that if it can happen,It Will Happen. For years I've carried around spares and tools and aids for emergencies and never had any problems. Then one day I left the bin with it all in at home and ended up having to pay somebody to fix a fault and ended up getting an £86.00 bill for less than a fivers worth of actual parts. The part was half a dozen O seals, the constant vibration from the road had worn the water pipe couplings to the extent that they leaked. And it always happens on a rainy day so don't forget the ☔

    How can the caravan roll backwards from the ramp when the best way is to reverse it up, so your handbrake will keep it from rolling down.?
    And is this payed for by Milenco? ;)

    • @HereWeTow
      @HereWeTow  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it isn’t paid for by Milenco, I am recommending the products we bought with our caravan and have well tested. If a vlog is sponsored then that has to be declared by any vlogger. If you want to reverse up you can..people use the method that works best for them. A chock is a good way to be safe if that is what you are referring to. Thank you for watching 😊 Karina
