    Them frame rail bolts are special tapered bolts like the front wheel lug bolts. r47953 bolts are longer at 2'' for this purpose. also there are two more back behind the batterys too check also!!

    We had same problem on 4430 blade tractor a few yrs ago, a retired JD parts man gave us the fix, drill out threads with a 21/32'' drill bit, rethread for 4640 bolts, use thread lock, forever fix

    The bolts that wore out the threads can be heli-coiled, that will allow using the original size bolts to replace the broken ones. The other choice is to go to the next size larger and tap the casting accordingly.

    My bad!
    Locktightened fastners, is to heat the fastner which softens the locktite....not crazy cherry red heat....just 500deg or so with small torch....and plenty of time to heat soak all the way down fastner to where locktite is

    Maybe you did this already, but take the batteries out and check the frame to block bolts at the rear of the side rails .??.

  • @lukedesselle2491
    @lukedesselle2491 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    There's a lever on the left side that allows you to put the transmission in tow or neutral, you then hook up your pressure guages to it and it allows you to shift through all 8 gears without the tractor moving, you can then tell what the pressures are doing in each clutchpack, if it was slipping in 7 and 8 before that's probably still gonna be there, when the oil is cold it's thicker and the clutches won't slip as much, but I've seen a 4640 slip in 7 and 8 and ran for years the guys just new to idle it back and then increase throttle, now you may have had something in the shifting value that was sticking also, if a value wasn't opening or closing as it should it would cause that, but I'm gonna bet when you get back to using it the problem will return
    Good luck man hope it works out

      We had 2 4020s with power shift always slipped between 7 and 8 the first one we traded with 2500 hours the second we still have has about 12000 hours still runs like a champ besides that rebuilt motor at about 9000 hours.

    The hydraulic leak that you fixed up front may have also contributed to the transmission working better if it was feeding oil and pressure to the transmission.
