    Why is it that every time I see a video of someone else at Good Will the shelves are stocked wall to wall with valuable items? Whenever I go to Good Will there's one DVD player with a missing door and no remote, 5 dirty toasters, a coffee maker with a missing pot, and 25 copies of Gran Turismo 3.

    I purchased a dual-cassette old-school boom box for $20, just to use the radio when working on my cars in the garage. There was eight $100 bills inside the battery compartment, somebody was using it as a stash spot and the Goodwill people didnt find it obviously. A rare situation but incredible nonetheless.

    Looking at current listings is almost as important as looking at sold items. For example if there is 50 items listed and only 1 sold, then not a good item. Always check how many listed vs how many sold.

    It never ceases to amaze me at the amount of electronics and such at these Goodwill stores I see in videos on TH-cam!! I live in the Northeast and there is nothing like this within hundreds of miles of me. At the Goodwill stores near me, all you will see are clothes and maybe some housewares junk. There is usually one little shelf in the left rear of the stores with a few small junky electronics, if any. It's unbelievable to see what are at the stores in this video, as well as so many others.

  • @VegasAlien1
    @VegasAlien1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +47

    People will pay for shipping on things, especially electronics. No need to give away potential profit. Even split it with them and put some extra money in your pocket. They will pay, just pack it well. I do calculated shipping and usually make a few dollars on shipping with my eBay discount. Grab a store VHS tape and DVD to test their electronics. Better to pay for an eaten tape (if they insist) than to bring home a non-working unit.

      You wouldn't get money from me on eBay. I filter out searches, to only show items that have free shipping. The reason I do that, not saying you do, but some sellers will ask say, $5 for the product they are selling. then when you click on it to check details. They want $26 for shipping That would cost only $7 in reality. It was just a bait to get you to click on them. Then I would say to myself. Confoundit, they dooped me again. Then go buy it from another seller.

    I'd take the rain over my 0 degree high temp and -25 degree wind chills right now! One thing about remotes, I do still sometimes pick up name brand remotes if I notice that they go to units that sell for a lot of money, just in case I ever find that particular unit and I can then add the remote to get more money. Only if they are $1-$2 though. I found a Bose remote at the bins once for $1 that I sold by itself for over $60! Love the sourcing videos, I hope you guys do more of them!

I pressed the link, damn, it was click bait to purchase lessons on selling 'high ticket' items aka 'clikbait'. Thank you for not doing that. I will watch the results video and if you don't try to sell me then I will subscribe. I am an older retired guy but have tons of time on my hands, so I could do what you just showed and lots of places to buy stuff where I live. @@jeffonspikes5567 Google says this... The trefoil was the second Adidas logo. The theme of three stripes is still evident in the look, both in the leave that shoot out from the logo, and the three stripes that cross it diagonally. ... This logo is still used on some of their products, particularly their line of classic products.

    Electronics are my favorite category but I know almost nothing about them. I can literally spend 30-45+ minutes standing in the electronics section looking up every model number.
    I’ve become more and more comfortable speninding up to $15 on an item that will flip for $50+ because the roi is so much better. Also I find higher priced items usually sell faster. It’s a win win for me.

    You have to know your area. Where I live, the local thrift stores are always stocked with decent stuff. I swear people around here have the money to wear expensive clothing once, twice, or even never (new with factory tags) then give it to Goodwill etc. A lot of stuff I end up keeping if it's outdoor gear as it would be something I'd want and would pay full price for at some point (so that saves me money not necessarily makes me money). Lawn sales are good too.

    I have learned to specialize in VCRs as resale items. I find them ALL of the time at thrift stores - Goodwill, Salvation Army, Value Village (higher at VV), and others. The DVD/VCR combos sell for $10 - $15.00, usually.. The VCRs can sell anywhere from $3.99 - $5.99 at the Goodwill. I purchased a Symponic flat screen TV (a small one) from Goodwill for a mere $10.00. I have a table set up with with the TV, with the video/stereo cables already plugged in to it (red, yellow, white). I plug in the VCR, load up a VHS tape (usually 80s), and play the entire movie from start to finish. This assures me the VCR doesn't screw up after running for a while. I then take pics with the movie playing on the TV, with the VCR, showing the buyers that it runs fine. I prefer to buy VCRs from Goodwill, because they have a 7 day return policy for in-store credit. Other places don't take them back. If they come with a remote, you can ALWAYS get more for them - especially if it is the original remote. When I find remotes in thrift stores that look like they go with a VHS players (the remotes usually have a button for VHS), I buy them and hold on to them. The remotes usually sell for like $2.00. So, if I ever find a VCR without a remote, I *might* have a remote that goes with it - so I can get more money for it. When I sell the VCRs, I sweeten the deal by including a video/stereo cable, a brand new VHS, and a remote (if it comes with one). This always seems to get me more money for it. If you sell just a VCR with no cables, or any accessories, it won't net you as much. The shipping that the Side Hustle Pros estimated is about right. I usually charge about $15.00 for the shipping, myself. It is VERY important to pack VCRs with care, and lots of packing material inside. I wrap them in bubble wrap, and I then use pieces of cardboard to enclose it. Then I put it inside of a box that has styrofoam walls inside, and then fill the box with packing peanuts. Write "VERY FRAGILE" on every side of the box!!!

I was not able to test them. But I may figure something out. All the other info I can use. You sell a VCR with the red/yellow/white cables along with it? And maybe a remote? I could throw in an old VHS movie. I have picked up remotes at Goodwill in the past and sold them on eBay.

      @@geezermann7865 yes.. that would be the red/yellow/white cables. I always pick them up when I see them at thrifts... usually they cost 99 cents to $1.99. I hord them so I never run out. I just store them in an old box... same thing with remotes I find that have a brand name and a button that says VCR. Means they go with some VCR somewhere... i find VHS blank tapes often at thrifts... the bricks.. come like 6 to 8 in a pack.. if you never see them, you can find people selling them on Ebay.

    Nice video as always! I just want to say that many times I find electronics items all over the Goodwill store that someone has obviously put in their cart to look up and when they found out that it was not a good flip just dumped it in some other part of the store. C'mon guys, this community is better than that and we should respect the sources that allow us to make a living doing reselling. It's just a poor reflection on our community. I realize that these culprits are the exception but I just wanted to direct this at some of the folks that may be new or have not thought about how hard the people at Goodwill work trying to keep the stores shoppable. That is all.
