- Alec Baldwin's "Rust" case was dismissed on Friday by a judge in New Mexico. Baldwin was on trial for involuntary manslaughter after the 2021 fatal shooting of "Rust" cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

my first thought, and it continues to be the only one that matters here in my opinion.......there should never be anything but a serious, no nonsense person in charge of the weapons, not some instagram child. You can't expect the actors to even be thinking about the possibility of a real shot fired, it just simply isn't their job. If a roof caves in while you are shopping for groceries do you think the bag boy should go to prison?
The armorer was a kid to a well known one. Not that it is good and I hate how people’s kids get tenured into jobs personally but that’s what happened here.

This was a terrible accident, no malicious or criminal intent. So happy for Mr. Baldwin.
I'm happy for Alex. This was a terrible incident but one I truly do not believe he was directly, intentionally, or maliciously responsible for.
I hope he can find some peace.
People are so consumed with the drama that they've missed the lesson: government corruption. Most of us don't have the money to protect ourselves from it.
But you're also missing an important fact: actor's aren't responsible for props. But whoever was responsible for that prop is the one that should've been in that seat next to his attorney. It isn't an actor's responsibility to analyze a prop. The person who was hired to do this work is. To put this on Alec is bull****. This verdict is the absolute correct one. But the family sees dollar signs. If they want to go after anyone, they need to go after the production company. Or whoever hired the armorer. They need to be held liable.

Totally ridiculous that he was charged in the first place! How many thousands of times have actors shot a PROP gun relying on the armorer to provide a gun with blanks. This should have NEVER happened and he should sue those involved with this stupidity.

While I agree with you , I know there is a strict code on set not to ever point the gun at people and such , which I guess Baldwin was doing a lot of . But the fact the armorer had live rounds in a gun is inexcusable .

Yes it was an accident but it is also caused a death. Involuntary manslaughter. Plan and simply. Judge would have discretion in sentencing but the crime remains the same.

This had nothing to do with money. The prosecution dropped the ball on this one. If one’s the family is solely blame them for hiding evidence they supposed to share with the defense.

I’ve been watching this man entertain us for decades. Just saw an old movie the other day with him in it, 90’s movie. He never was a violent person, or ever in real trouble, I’m an 80’s child.
My opinion, he is innocent, honestly it’s just a horrible nightmare that has no end, all around tragedy, wrong place, at the wrong time, and really it will never leave his mind, this situation changes anyone’s life, he seems like a pretty conscience person to me.
Of course mistakes were made, inexplicable choices were made, and some people’s negligence cost him, and everyone’s else’s life to change, especially the human life that was taken, and no one can ever bring her back, and fill that hole she left to her immediate family, and friends!!
Lessons can be learned from tragedies, safety measures that now need to be taken!!!
Because no matter what, her life will never be returned.
His peace of mind will forever trouble him.
My condolences 💐 to her family, and friends. May they treasure her memory 🕊️
