George C I had the same problem till I heard about the corsa sri 1.6t, same engine as the vxr just detuned to 150bhp so a remap takes it over 200bhp from a stage 1. same brakes, suspension and drive train as the vxr but a lot cheaper on insurance :)

Have you gotten one? I got one, it's alright, be prepared for alot of faults. Including Clattering Engine (very loud ticking sound) "Normal don't worry", wheelbearings, everythings makes a rattle, the gearbox, especially if you exceed the 220Bhp goes broke, mine broke relatively late at 150.000 miles, so I am lucky. Air conditioning Hoses break and are expensive. The car uses more fuel than an Audi V8, even when I drive normally. Brakes squeak abnormaly, it's sometimes smells like burned oil and other burned stuff "normal no problems" sometimes smells like petrol "normal, no fix" oh did I mention the Gearbox? FUCK THAT SHITTY GEARBOX IT'S GARBAGE MATE. But it runs, and is really quick, having power from 2000rpm to about 5500rpm. It's a pocket rocket and for all it's fault I still kinda love it. EXCEPT FOR THAT GEARBOX, FUCK THAT SHIT.
Well that's put me right off. LOL I dunno what to get. Sick of driving a shitty 1.2L Fiesta... I've got the money for something interesting but I'm 23 and don't want to pay through the nose for insurance.
Duncan Depends on how much Power you need in your Car. Get something Like a civic type r, it'll run Rings around a normal vxr and is naturally aspirated. My First Car was a Citroen C2 Vts, awesome little Car with 122bhp but I needed more Power :-P
Corsa's take forever to register the fuel when you top up less or around 8 litres (~£10). If you want it to register straight away then you need to top up at least 12 litres (~£15)
Calvin, I love this vid mate. I just got hold of a Corsa VXR and she's off to Rabbid next month for a Stage 2 which I am pretty sure this motor is judging from the BHP you quote in the vid. I fully appreciate your reactions to the motor, not driven it anywhere close to the style you have but she deffo puts a smile on my face whenever I put my foot down. Not going to stick a dump valve on her as this can cause issues apparently. Planning the Intercooler upgrade, injector upgrade (at the Stage 2 Rabbid Tuning remap) and I have a Scorpion Cat Back exhaust waiting in my kitchen to be installed next week. Can't bloody wait. Keep up the good work mate, class video.

Shame though it's off the road at the moment seeing as a uninsured driver smashed into the back of me as he was more bothered about smoking his joint meaning I need a new rear bumper and rear diffuser which are not at all cheap!! the extra aerial is the cb radio just by the gearstick and if you look in the glovebox theres a megaohone amd police siren in there,nice vid though mate always entertaining
I've been on the bench about buying a Corsa Vxr ever since the whole piston ring problem or whatever it is but this is just kicked me in the ass to get one I was smiling since you started I can't stop grinning :)
Stephen Ismay - Johnston nah , its the rods that make problems in the SRI /VXR engine. As long as you stay under 350Nm of Torque your totally fine . I run my SRI with 220bhp and 320 Nm and it runs like hell. if you get one in a mint condition , go for it !

Im looking at going frim my mk2 focus st225 stage 1 280bhp to a 2012 corsa vxr stage 1 with 231bhp , obviously its not gonna be as fast but hoping its just as fun.. But with out the crazy 17mpg... After this review/video im not as apprehensive of not enjoying it.. 👌🏽👌🏽

My Opel Corsa GSi has the same engine without the looks, it sounds just as awesome for half the cost. I don't have a blow off but the turbo sounds exactly the same.

such a good little car, had mine just over a year and a half now, fucking love it. getting gearbox repaired next week though as I have a whine which is a common problem, this and the piston 4 but getting stage 1 with bigger injectors soon so that should prevent that happening. great car but it does come with these 2 major problems.

Service and look after the car and you'll find you'll be fine kids buy these cars , mod them without support and wonder why they blow and get issues that's why there is bad press any car has common faults simple
I'm struggling to decide between a Corsa VXR or Clio 197? From my research I've summed up the cars in my mind but still can't decide. They are around the same price and age and mileage. The Corsa seems to look more flashy and the styling is a lot more bold and 'boy-racer', whilst the Clio seems more reserved and sensible in its looks. I'm undecided which look i prefer! The Corsa seems to be cheaper to run (lower tax and slightly better MPG), however the Clio seems to be a better drivers car and performs better. I guess I'm undecided between a car which is flashy and looks 'boy-racer' and is cheaper to run, or a car which is descrete but secretly the better perfomin car, even though it's more expensive to run. Any recommendations? It'll be used mainly for my own personal use (driving to work and social commutes) but also needs to be practical as I often take 3, 4, 5 adults and some luggage with me. Thanks

stage 3 probably to be running that power, wouldnt be ragging too many of these about like that and turning it off without cooling it first and checking for forged pistons geeze lol

You can tell which side the fuel cap is by looking at the fuel light symbol. It’s on the same side the hose is on the symbol... You’re welcome.

Actually insurance isn't that expensive. Alteast in Germany averaging 350€ and for full coverage about 1000€ a year.
