Superb choice of food to celebrate! Well done my friend, you are up there with the famous travellers in the past having had your share of hard times during the journey. Ibn Bathutha was robbed during his first leg of the long journey. I pray you have a safe journey.

What I love about mombasa is that you have no excuse to skip prayer because the mosque are so many n the call to prayer is heard even when you are asleep
Nice to see you shaking off that stupid detention earlier and enjoying dinner at Tarboush. There are some nice beaches and hotels South Coast Mombasa Diani Area as well as the North Coast. Going South Coast, You'll find the Ferry connecting the Island to mainland Mombasa. Don't miss 'Light House' (ask any tuktuk driver) that's where all Mombasans go to chill looking at the Indian Ocean. Going North Coast, Try Bamburi Beach. Lots of people enjoying the beach there on the weekends. Also in Mombasa, you can check out the Port of Mombasa from the outside at least. It's the gateway for all goods imported to East and Central Africa. You also gotta try 'Haluwa' or Halwa, a sweet for 'special occasion' dessert popular in Mombasa and the region. Enjoy Mombasa!

Sabbatical I would advise you to be very careful in some areas of mombasa. Especially Kisauni and Majengo. Those areas are really unsafe, speaking as a resident myself in mombasa. Even I'm very careful when travelling in those parts especially kisauni. There are gangs made of kids ( young adults and teenagers mostly) that make those areas very unsafe especially if you're displaying expensive gear like phones or cameras. These kids are very bold and will likely stab you if you try to resist. So I would advise against going there. Even the police have trouble getting rid of these gangs so be very careful.
