- In Petaling street, we had Ikan bakar which is made out of prawn, octopus, shells. The taste was good. I liked it. There we can see a number of Chinese food. The Petaling street was good.

This grilled fish/seafood originates from Melaka, where your fan is from. He should have known well about it. This type of cooking is inspired by Portuguese- Malaysian cuisine. There is large Portuguese-Malaysian community in Melaka because it was a Portuguese colony once. The ingredients in red sauce (Sambal) are:
1) Cili kering = Dried Chilli
2) Udang kering = Dried Shrimp
3) Bawang merah = Red onion
4) Bawang Putih = Garlic
5) Serai = Lemongrass
6) Belacan = Shrimp paste
7) Bunga Kantan = Ginger torch flower
Bro next time get a good guide in Malaysia that is able to converse fluently in both National language and English.
Belacan means dtied shrimp paste. Meaning erral or sinakonni paste seithu and dried. Normally added to give a 'kick, to the sambal. I am a .Malaysian tanilachi🙏

You should come to Kuchai Lama 's Restoran Talipon..it's buffet style steamboat and bbq.. they serve plenty of choices of food from fish 🐟 , 🦑, 🍤, 🐌 ,lala ,oyster,eggchicken ,fishballs,taufu,fruits, ice creams, ice kacang,cendol,the list go on...you should try

Everywhere in the world if wanna eat prawn..have to peel off the skin da thambi. The reason cook whole prawn coz it will shrink when they cook and for the tasty.
