    when i was in high school (i'm 22 now) this music somehow found me and i desperately tried to emulate the fashions. the slim suits mostly confused the other kids but i felt kingly. if only i could've been around in '66!

      Wow! Your comment was 11 years ago. TH-cam was a toddler by then. Now that you're 33, how has life treated you? Still trying to emulate the 60s? Still like The Eyes?

    Sounds like "I Can't Explain" by The Who. 60's music was the best!

  • @RiotCity66
    @RiotCity66 15 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great video montage of "Swinging 60s" London. Yes, the Who's first few records came out first, but they BOTH had a great sound. If you liked this, "When The Night Falls" is also great.

    Fantastic this! I first got it on the LP Blink in the early 80s (Bam Caruso- send for fab poster; I did and it was fab too!) What an opening line too. The grey suede coat sounds gorgeous as well.....

    yeah, i'm aware of that, it was released at the end of 65, late november, but poster referenced elevators, i don't think they're connected but i wouldn't say it was impossible that the eyes had heard of the elevators though.

    I'd say "I Can't Explain" was more likely the inspiration but it does remind me of "You're gonna miss me", but I would doubt either band would have heard either's music at the time, small distribution, and yes Rocky recorded "You're gonna miss me" with The Spades before the 13th Floor Elevator's version...great tracks all.

    The attack on the chords is something typically British. It's not the Kinks or the Who. Electric dynamite, it can always be better.

    @RiotCity66 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @truethought62 - Yes, I actually own that LP. Nice try, and give 'em credit for good taste, but the Eyes original version is considerably better.
    As far as the geneology of the main guitar riff, it's clearly based on the Who's "Can't Explain", which in turn is based on the Kinks "You Really Got Me", which can be traced back to the Kingsmen "Louie Louie"...
