Clay's journey to founding Thunder Laser USA began with his quilt shop, Stitchin Heaven, which he co-owns with his mother. The shop sells various quilting-related items, including fabric, tools, and machines. Initially, their employees and customers were manually cutting appliqué, but Clay realized that this method was not scalable. He sought a faster and more precise solution, leading him to purchase his first laser machine from Universal Laser.
As the business continued to grow, Clay needed to significantly increase production. However, he wasn't willing to invest another $27,000 in a laser machine. This prompted him to search for a more affordable yet high-quality and reliable laser machine, ultimately leading him to discover Thunder Laser.
Over the next few years, Clay purchased several Thunder Laser machines and developed a strong relationship with Thunder Laser China. His positive experiences and vocal support for Thunder Laser caught the attention of the company, particularly when they recognized a need to improve their sales efforts in the U.S. market. Given Clay's enthusiasm and success with their machines, Thunder Laser China saw him as the ideal person to lead their U.S. expansion.
In 2016, Clay founded Thunder Laser USA, and from there, the company has continued to grow and make its mark in the industry.
