Besides all the hugs, At 5:27, after she gets her cup of water, she looks at the guy serving and says thank you. I mean, who else does that. Only Claudia.
@@mikeydurden She's at Dartmouth and on the track team. She had a lot of injuries at the end of High school. Not a bad place to get a degree from if that running thing doesn't work out, lol. Beautiful town as well.
I feel like what we saw with Grant Fisher, Michael Slagowski, and Drew Hunter, is happening here with Katelyn Touhy and Claudia Lane. If they could compete against each other, then a lot of girl high school records will fall. They're both Juniors now too!
Sorry ,but no not really Could depend on experience When I ran track ( elementary -- HS ) Fastest mile == 5:02 -- little comp Slowest mile == 5:13 -- no comp + injured Footnote *** prior to HS ,I believe
@@saranmichelsen No ,in actuality not necessarily . All depends on which Championships they both were to,be invited to or which of the Championships they qualify for to be entered ..
I agree with @Clos MasMas it does look like she’s speed walking and her arms aren’t going forward they going from side to side and somehow she gets it done.
IDK what grade this is but in my track meets, there was this really fast 8th grader named Kevin Curry, and he had a late 7 minute time and around 4:50 for his mile. He was always like 200 meters ahead of the 2nd place every race and he got new records for the district. Probably going to the Olympics.
I know seventh graders that get 4:30-4:20 lol. It's gonna take a lot more work to get into olympics, fast times doesn't mean you can get into olympics.
You personally know SEVENTH GRADERS that get THOSE times?!?! Dude that's crazy I know some Mexican guy at my church that did the mile and he got a 4:45 in 8th grade, 4:30 in high school, got a full scholarship because of his running, and got a 4:15 in college. I don't know about 7th graders getting such good times.
Yea I know them personally but what's surprising is that most of them are girls. They probably get those times because they go to a LOAD of clubs for instance SRLA, Volley Ball, Soccer, Football, Basketball, etc. All require you to run until you can't anymore. And then the sport training comes along. And all of the seventh grade runners I know are Mexican too lol. I guess genetics.
Okay I'm sorry but now I'm REALLY doubting you. First of all, the WR for women is 4:12, only 8 seconds faster than that 4:20. Second of all, the mile for 7th grade girls you are talking about is 20 seconds faster than Claudia Lane in this video, and I'm preeettty sure the event Claudia just raced in is national level or at least college level. (X) Doubt
Win while you can Claudia, Katelyn Tuohy will be kicking butt when she arrives in college. Katelyn beat this time by 14 seconds and she's a sophomore in high school ! Katelyn also has much better form, already.
@@david1234lee Decker ran 4:17 when she was 27. Claudia is 16 here and rarely ran such short distances in high school. Decker was running in the 4:40's in high school so not much difference.
@@IRex-wm9pd Mary Decker was the sensation at the time and she had a very long and diversified career. Then she was injured and had to quit. I must say both will be remembered for a long time !
Katlyn tuohy run 4:30, probably the best prospect I seen on TH-cam. Heading into college she’s going to be the biggest competition and college star if she stays healthy
She's fast but I don't like her form. Notice how the other girls nearly caught up to her at the end. As she progresses she will need to become a more efficient runner or she's going to get eaten alive by older and more experienced runners.
Emil Zatopek would never win on style points either. It her leg action that is disturbing. Indicating both a lack of flexibility and strength leading to a low knee lift and a finishing kick. Her future is over longer distances, if she survives female development, aka Mary Kane. You cannot overcome genetics and estrogen will always win. Running is part of life not the only purpose in life. Enjoy it while it last and get that scholarship.
No, you did not run a 4:45 mile as a 10 year old buddy. The world record is 4:55 for the 10 year old group. Either somebody lied to you, you ran the wrong distance, or you are making this up for attention. It’s annoying
even the worst girl got an amazing mile score
The girl in last got 5:08. How are these people this good?
cyoungrun1 yes it is it’s above average no one just goes out and runs a 5:08 in a mile she’s above average that’s good
cyoungrun1 that’s you your a totally different person even still these girls would beat half of the comment section talking shit
@cyoungrun1 are you a guy? 5:08 is a pretty decent time for a girl, but not really for a guy
5:08 is not good for a boy but for a girl it is really good.
Love how she hugs the other girls after the race. 😊
Theo Dragoi
Not at all weird, it’s called sportsmanship and respect. You’ve never experienced it?
That’s XC and track culture. One of my favorite things about the sport.
They all do it. Hugs are the norm throughout college and the Olympics as well. Maybe you all should try it sometime. Looks like y'all need a hug.
Love u claudia, she is such a nice girl that she hugs all the girls after winning
she has a shorter stride then the other racers so her pace is incredible
Claudia is AMAZING!!!! Love to have her autograph
Why are ALL these videos from the past? Don't they have any current ones to show the runners are doing now?
Besides all the hugs, At 5:27, after she gets her cup of water, she looks at the guy serving and says thank you. I mean, who else does that. Only Claudia.
cementdriveway I’m not that familiar with competitions in the US, but is that uncommon to salute your rivals and say thank you?
It can be pretty common. Except the way Claudia does it makes her very unique. Genuinely a super nice person. Win or Lose.
In Australia people get caught out by their peers if they don't do any of that lmao
nearly everyone says thank you if there is someone handing out water, you must be from the north
Im from the MN and we say thank aswell you so what does being from the north have to do with anything hmmmm
4:40 with better pacing easy
Im Champ I agree, don’t go out in 32s for 200 and she’ll have more left
Claudia once again puts on a show. The girl that got second is very tough, she was gaining on the winner, like amazing.
She is really short and has a strange stride. I want to see her vs. Katelyn Tuohy. Katelyn BLEW her away in 2018- Katelyn ran 4:33!
Carl Mape Katelyn has a much better, stronger, smooth, long stride.. Katelyn will destroy her.. easily
@kurtis howard What's her name?
@kurtis howard do u mean 5:18?
Katelyn is a different breed. She looks like the most well=oiled machine I have ever seen at this stage of her career.
This is not Highlander. There can be more than one.
One person is always way ahead
Claudia is AMAZING
Would love to Tuohy, Ping and her run in a race!
Here is ping and Tuohy in a 2 mile (2018). not super helpful, but it's something.
Thay first lap....superb
WTH y so much hate give her a break
She's so amazing
Wtf is up with her form
Mason Barry looks like she swings her arms fast but that might just be that she moves legs faster too. Like punching air infront of her
David Johnson i think hes talking about how much she leans her body bavk and forth
Her cadence has to be like 200+
She'd be running 4:30s with proper form and better pacing. So much wasted movement
travz21 shes got a lot of time to improve...like it said shes only a sophomore
Man I can't even do 1/2 mile under 5 min...
lmao she just finished her mile at 4 min while i barely started on my second oK
.
I can just imagine myself tripping over lmaoo
Look at her cadence, just like Tohoey, and ping she is moving faster than the rest of the field.
This is from 2017.
HandelandJ yep
Geez how does she do that? My mile is 8:50 😂😂
Nusta Rada , 1 no
She really needs work on her stride.
Claudia had no track season in 2018. I hope she can come back for XC in the fall 2018 or her career is over. hoping for 3rd Footlocker title!
Career over? Is highschool the peak these days? So no college?
Mikey Durden She’s not focusing on running in college, as is now apparent from her times.

DolphinnIsPresent god speed
Stfu bro
She beat my best by two seconds.
Hush junior
amazing win, but he running style looks tough, wasting energy
Is a 6 min mile ok for a freshman girl in high school???
Emma VanHook yes its pretty good
Sorry ,but no not really

Fastest mile == 5:02 -- little comp
Slowest mile == 5:13 -- no comp + injured
Footnote *** prior to HS ,I believe
she should vs katlyn touhy
How have her and Katelyn Tuohy never raced? I am not an avid fan and don't understand the structure of races in the U.S.
Claudia is from the west coast and Tuohy is from the east, so they would have to travel pretty far to race against each other.

Wow
What's the average HR when they are at that speed?
She looks like power walking, if that's what everyone is on about.
why is she running like she has to go real quickly to the toilette ?

How much meters is the mile is it 1000m ?
dighk gejevje 1600 meters

She doesn’t look like a runner
put her in a race with Katelyn Hart,Kelsey Chmiel and Katelyn Touhy and see what happens.4th is what would happen
Idk Kelsey runs about the same time, tuohy is a beast first of course and the other girl idk
Shes already beaten Hart.
Her running form is a little weird, but if it works, it works
Sigh... her first quarter mile was three seconds slower than my best quarter mile in high school
Good run but not really fast ! I remember Mary Decker did it in 4:17 something.
Hold up she is a child !!!!!!!!!!!
She does not look like a child; Decker started early as well. She does not have the kicking and bouncing. She runs pretty heavy.

How could this be an invitational without Katelyn tuohy?? Try inviting the best..
How come at every girls race they look like they have a hard time striding but then at a guys race most of their strides look effortless?
These girls dont look very naturally athletic though they run hard I can't see any competing with the vest in the world in the future.
