Also a tip for trading, look for defenceman with low elite potential (Nurse in edm,Bean on Carolina etc) they grow to 85 + within 2-3 yrs for me at the price of only a second tops. I'm talking a team with Yuri Kapitanov, Pete Walton, Andrew MacFarland, Ernest Ciarelli, Brandon Hope, Lou Morris, Keith Yandle, Hampus Lindholm, any player from 2BC's past GM mode worthy of the Allstar title. I'm probably forgetting a lot of names I shouldn't be, but you get the idea.

Johnny, Talent-wise, I think these Toronto Maple Leafs have what it takes to make the playoffs. Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Rielly are all showing they can get it done. I think you honestly have to help these guys as much as you can on the defensive side of the puck. You must add a young Top 4 D to this core. My suggestion is to add Cam Fowler. The guy is young and fits with what this TML team really needs. He can defend well and is good on the offensive side of the puck. His name has been in the rumor mill this summer so wouldn't be a stretch to see the Ducks make a move. I believe bringing in a guy like Fowler would give the extra help on the back end for Anderson while also adding another PP asset to further help this young core grow. You'd have to give a little bit on this but think it has the potential to be another critical piece of the puzzle on getting the Leafs back to prominence in the NHL. To TOR: To ANA: D Cam Fowler D Frank Corrado RW Nikita Soshnikov 2017 2nd Round Pick 2018 2nd Round Pick Ducks would be getting great cap relief, 2 solid cap-friendly young players and two valuable 2nd round draft picks. Been waiting for it for years now. I'm a nhl vet and don't think I'm going to buy this one because it looks like the same game as 16 with a slightly different feel. Pretty disappointed again the ea nhl games now...really hope they bring back what fans loved

You need to replace Hunwick. You have enough depth in your prospect pool to make a trade for a guy who would fit you team. Jacob Trouba, Cam Fowler, Kevin Shattenkirk are 3 big name guys who are young to fit the age of your team. They've all had trade rumors this summer so It would be realistic for one of these teams to make the trade. At least go look to see if there's anyone who could be a good option.
Anyone notice the CPU not making trades during the season? My settings are correct, but an entire season went by and not a single CPU trade or trade offer to me. Not on trade deadline, draft day, off-season, absolutely none. The did sign FAs in the off-season and one player I saw go through waivers but no trades?!?!

Put the injury occurrence up to 5. Injuries have to happen sometimes and they haven't, really, since you put it down to 1. You were just getting hit by the injury bug hard like every team does at least once a year.
It means that he isnt healed completely. He is 100x more likely to get re injured when the little first aid kit symbol is there. You can scratch him until it says he is fully healed butThe twist is that if you scratch him his morale goes down and his overall goes down.
I would keep Matthews in what line it says his role is. I tried playing him on the 2nd line year one and he grew very little, play him on the 3rd line with other scorers and move him up when his role changes. Spend the money to get players on one year deals that help his growth
Give the guys you want to grow on your AHL team A and C. It gives them a moral boost, and helps them to grow I think. Worked on NHL 16 atleast and doesnt hurt to try

John Dressel because the player with the lower overall is younger and can grow (get a higher overall) the other player was too old to grow anymore. Hope this helps

It’s more about specific stats rather than their overall, you’d wanna put a player who has good passing stats on a line with someone who can shoot the puck, this creates good production that can help you win games
are there any gm modes where the uploader plays a few games here and there? i cant find any a lot of youtubers seem to just sim all the games. which is fine just not my preference
Switch your 2nd line for your 3rd line, your 3rd is doing pretty good so you could give them more play time ! BTW the slow sim for divisional game is awesome, keep up the good work !
Johnny its not your year you could make those trades with polak and michalek for those 2nds or combine them and someone else for a 1st and move matthews and marner to the 2nd line instead of bozak and nylander because bozak only has 7 points in 23 games and it will help marner and matthews grow if u do that and u could draft either a defenseman or matthew strome early in the draft PLEASE PUT THIS IN THE VIDEO *GO CANUCKS*

They dont have to be traded for 1st rounders cause i doubt itd be realistic that lupul would be worth a 1st rounder ( let alone a second lol) but id trade them away because you have young guys that should have grown enough to be at least bottom 6 forwards or bottom 4 dmen next season. Also you never know who will be available in free agency.

Trade Kadri, freddy the goat and 2018 first pick to NYI for Hamonic and Pulock. Use Matthews Bozak and Holland as your core Centers while you strengthen your D core heavily with size and skill for the now and the future. 2nd line centers are easier to get as apposed to sold D men. Both are right shots as well to compliment Reilly and Gardiner.

I've never seen you mess with the strategies? Maybe try changing up the line strategies and PP unit strategy.
