    Honestly this is the best thing about brands like Grovemade. They are so expensive (Yes they look good, but it's soooo expensive) that it actually inspires us to make our own variant. I love it.
    Good job and would love to see more.

    You honestly get more respect from me for doing this yourself than throwing money at the problem. Nice work! 👍

    I was going to order one from grove made, but I have all the tools to build one and even built a desk in the past. Did a quick search and ended up here; I got inspired and I’ll build it this weekend. Thanks!

      Did it work out? haha

      I didn’t end up building it after all. I ordered a very small 36” desk and found a small metal base for the monitor that was inexpensive. I had to save space.

      Got it man. I'm really into building but I have zero tool and close to zero skills haha but buying a 300 bucks "little mini desk for a desk" is out of question 😅

    My beagle also lays down under the desk while I’m working from home. They are best!

    For your ‘first proper’ woodworking project (as you took an angle grinder to the plywood 😁), this is brilliant. Great results, well done! 👍

    Very nice and talented work! The process is much harder than I expected so I just ordered a Grovemade's one.

      Exactamente! Por eso los productos valen lo que valen, el que tenga la habilidad y las herramientas idóneas, adelante! El que no, pues $$$$, así de simple

    Looks great! I would just replace using screws with wooden dowels, this way you could have hidden the joint spots.

    8:40 I'm thinking switch to that stack, macbook pro on the bottom and monitor on the top and that is!!! no external trackpad or mouse!, so my question are, why you need the MX mouse if you have the trackpad of the laptop? you neck hurts seeing to the bottom on to the macbook pro screen?

    What size board do you recommend when purchasing at Lowes or Home Depot?

  • @Etienne85
    @Etienne85 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    going to build one too. bought the wood today. may do some minor design changes and choose thinner material for middle panel (like in grovemade's version). btw congrats, yours looks very close to original

  • @seventeendegree
    @seventeendegree 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I'm gonna build my own one, for the very same reason you build yours. Your video is like a blueprint for me. However I'm gonna do a test run first and if that's a success, I'll get some walnut wood and do a proper one. Maybe with some cnc machined aluminium feet, we'll see :)

  • @eyes057

    Great build for your first attempt.
    A small detail - those countersunk screws that are on show on the sides of the unit aren’t pretty. Why didn’t you countersink them like the ones that you filled over on the top?

  • @nextlevelwarrior
    @nextlevelwarrior ปีที่แล้ว

    Yep, for those of us that dont live in the US the shipping, import and duties are out of this world. Though this led me to finding a local work working pro that made an even better product than the grovemade with custom dimensions for less than the pre shipment cost of the GM non solid wood top (but with an actual single solid piece of walnut )
